Sword of a Thousand Truths

Is an instant win. Sad.

that takes SO MUCH EFFORT. Turn 11+ win condition in a meta where people kill you by turn 6.

Yeah. Strangely i was hovering around and saw someone in wild tried to make a deathrattle Amara Elwynn board quest. (Of all things).

Sadly of all things, somehow my quest raza priest just killed them turn 7 through the deck just leaving the 2-6 drops on the board. [t2 2/3 draw, t3 1/4 discover, t4 4/5 taunt all types, t5 5/5 heal 5 every turn, t6 6/6 taunt heal 8]

I mean, not a very good deck but well. I think they surprisingly got like 6 boards off. Unfortunately the board would have been lethal already anyways and they didn’t seem to run a clear in theirs. But who knows, maybe someone found a better more successful variant. I don’t think the variant i ran into looked strong enough yet though.

Doesn’t kill fast enough to out tempo t6 quest lethals, didn’t seem to be able to clear fast enough to handle already existing boards either. Dying on curve to a quest priest’s 2-6 drops is a pretty low point imo.

MarkMcz has a video of a version that looks pretty fun and very reliable… If you draw a boar… And don’t die…

Of course its an instant win, did you listen to the Sword theme ?
It’s pretty self explanatory that you are screwed if they get it.

I have money on this guy was playing a netdeck (quest mage/warlock) without knowing how difficult this deck is to pull off without dying and got mad because he didn’t play around not feeding into the boars.

Edit, meant difficult for standard.

So true. I had enough shuffled in my deck but I never get around to drawing them because the matches don’t last that long :frowning:

Just had it busted out on me. Sucked being on the receiving end of it, but it was pretty epic lol.

I’m assuming it’s a priest deck ?

Sounds like the best way to make it work with the 3 mana spell that res 2 friendly deathrattles.

Worst part is it’s not even an instant win. If the opponnt has a board by the time you equip the sword you can still get punched to death. Or maybe it’s a DH and all their cards are costing -3.

yes, this is the ONE scenario where it’s actually fine, cuz it takes too much effort to do.

Yes. Wild with boars as the only minions and all of the various res effects short of Mass.

As a warlock, playing big demons, I survived taking Sword of a Thousand Truths to the face twice, and forced the priest to blow the last durability on a taunt minion.

So, I must disagree strongly. It is certainly not an instant win… Especially when compared to some of the other OP stuff in the current meta.

one more example to point out to people that forumposters will complain about EVERY card that’s ever printed.

I was playing with a fairly experimental deck that wasn’t great and I got sword of a thousand truthed on turn 7 and that seems pretty average, in my opinion it is a solid tier 2 deck. Since you can’t play any cards after it’s placed down, it’s hard to come back from.

I am flat out amazed that people decided to craft this card on day one though when all you have to do is wait like 4-6 weeks and get it completely free.

It basically is an instant win. Priests can get the sword by turn 6 sometimes, and once they have it, it resets your mana, regardless of whether they hit your hero. You can’t play any more cards, so of course they win! They do 30 damage before you have a chance to respond. Priest classes excel at removing your minions, plus they’re just going to resummon the pig and then you really won’t have a chance to respond, so it’s 45+ damage to your face before turn 10. (I’m here because I just fought three of these decks in a row.)

I may not mind so much if the sword couldn’t be used to attack heroes, or a direct hit was required to reset my mana, but as it stands, it’s cool when most classes pull it off, but priests can spam it Very easily, which is lame.

The thing about sword of a thousand truths is nobody is going to let you get it. Someone tried to do it with me and I just left the game when he got close to it.

Too bad then. No one wants to let you get the Ancient one either, but it won’t reset your mana for 3+ turns. (And leave you with 2 mana to counter after the opponent got 3+ turns with 8+ mana with you unable to counter.)
What do you expect to do to counter with 1 mana? You can’t even play at slime minion that destroys weapons for that little mana.

Priests have cards that can dominate the early and late game, which you can’t counter unless you have a spell focused deck, that also counters spells. Not all classes can pull that off.

Wait to see, I’m on the fence about it’s power level, I know in the game I lost to it I had a particularly bad mulligan. You can’t really disrupt it though, mostly because the deck I theorize is the best to play it can summon about 15 of these, about 10 from rez effects, where idk maybe you could try to target their rez pool but that might only delay it by a turn or 2. Best way to counter it is just to play a deck that finishes by turn 6 even after taking a few board wipes so it is a tough ask. It’s definitely not quest warlock level powerful.

i’ve finished the sword on turn 6 multiple times with my version of boar priest

it’s in wild but still… turn 6 is like before most decks can do anything besides quest warlock

it’s under-rated for sure, i don’t think it has as much support in standard though so won’t get nerfed
