change it to draw to minions? That way it wouldn’t damage priest, if that’s too weak maybe it should cost 2 mana. Priest likes card draw.
I couldn’t disagree more with OP. Anytime a game is settled on Turn 3-4, that’s a dissatisfying gaming experience. People complained about Mozaki Mage lacking interaction, so they nerfed Incanter’s Flow, but at least that wasn’t a problem until several turns in.
no, it baseline just wins less then 50% of the time time due to the fact that if you draw a minion before the spell (which is a 50% chance) then you lose the game. and in theory this could happen in the mulligan (eg both at the same time), assuming you don’t draw any minions you on average will draw switcheroo in the first 15 cards. Even when played at turn 3 the game isn’t garanteed to be over yet, the tools you have in hand have little effect typically so if your opponent stalls you turns you generally lose.
No Ban no mana cheat for priest
I love this. It is like Tibalt’s Trickery all over again for me! Almost the exact same reddit/forum reaction post for post haha.
Switcheroo falls in the category of “too much free” for me, just like most cards in this expansion. You play the card and it does your work for you.
All these switcheroo threads are giving me this kind of impression:
waah this gimick deck is making my synergy OP deck lose before i can play my solitaire and i don’t want to adapt and tech against it because it would mean taking out some OP cards from my deck
Disclaimer:
- No, i’m not playing switcheroo priest.
- Yes, the gimick deck is a “problem” in wild, but wild has much bigger problems overall.
- All the switcheroo priests i’ve faced in standard flopped embarasigly, so that’s like coin flip wins in my favor? Besides i always play some sort of jank control that is prepared for that kind of nonsence.
Since when is the meta only focused on copy/pasting broken decks online instead of you know…actually creating decks yourself and adapting to other people’s attempts at overwhelming you?
EDIT: I blame streamers/Zeddy.
Zeddy: Game is B R O K E N and frustrating to play!
Also Zeddy: Here’s decklists of broken decks to get E A S Y legend. Have fun and stay salty!
Actually just played my first wild game in about 3 months yesterday. I looked away for one second after playing my Rogue Quest and one si:7 skulker, and looked back and I was overkilled on his coin 3(Illuminate>switcheroo>Boar>vivid). Was mighty unpleasant I will admit that.
So some numbers are in for the Standard version of the deck. 48.55% winrate at top Legend. 52.44% winrate in Diamond 4-1. So Tier 3 at high ranks but Tier 2 at low ranks.
I’m surprised by this. I expected performance to be one tier lower (so Tier 3 in Diamond and Tier 4 in top Legend). It’s pretty unhealthy for this deck to be a viable method for climbing to Legend.
Maybe nerfing Switcheroo to 4 Mana is justified. But what I don’t want to see is any nerf that kills the combo, like a nerf to Twin-Fin Fin Twin. Making the combo one turn slower should be more than enough to drop 3% winrate off the deck, and that’s really all that’s needed.
Turn 5 24/24 stats is still very unfun. Not to mention you can dredge with illuminate for even more speed. The win rate doesn’t matter, every minion with high stats and every charge minion ever printed in this game is bound to break this card. It is unhealthy. It limits design space. It needs to be reworked entirely.
How often is it played in other priest decks though? Genuinely curious.
Every time I see this phrase used to describe a card, it seems to me the person saying it is someone who’s mission is to limit design space.
Silence Priest uses it. And Silence Priest is Tier 4 deck that shouldn’t be nerfed. I’d at least hope they buff some Priest cards if they do take Switcheroo to 4 Mana.
Looks like it’s also in Shellfish Priest.
I’m curious too.
Just my memory from a few games today…
I’ve seen a dragon priest run it. It appears he uses it more for the minion draw than the stat switch. Xyrella and lightmaw netherdrake are decent targets pull for their AoE. If they get more stats, great, if they got less stats, it’s not a big deal since they still did AoE.
Onxyian warder comes next as he also has a battlecry. If they were going for kazakusan that could work too.
I beat that dragon priest to see everything else. The more consistent AoEs/whelps probably works against other decks but not mine at the time.
I lost to another dragon priest that forget about switcharoo and just went for big dragons (switcheroo would be bad for raid boss onyxia for example)
I’ve also seen it used in a silence/shellfish priest. In theory if the stat switch isn’t desirable priest can silence it, but that deck seems to suffer from consistency. But the silence priest archetype seems to struggle from consistency. Sometimes you need to get those shellfish silence combo out. Sometimes you need to clear their board. Sometimes you need to pressure face. Sometimes you want to reach xyrella hero so the deathrattles from shellfish fatigues them. But a priest can’t usually afford to do all of those enough, or be able to reliably draw the right cards to the thing needed at the time.
I beat that priest too. I could see myself losing if they were luckier/me less lucky. But it’s still inconsistent.
I think inconsistent is the one word you can use to describe priest. The pieces they have can form the foundation for something, but it’s a new rotation so the cards aren’t there yet.
Now hang on a second. You’ve always stated something shouldn’t be nerfed unless it’s Tier 1. It’s a low tier 3 deck and you think it should be nerfed? This goes against anything you’ve ever stated in the past.
No, it’s Tier 2 in Diamond.
Um wait actually it’s Tier 1. See, the line between Tier 1 and Tier 2 is arbitrary, just both are over 50% winrate. And 52.44% is way too much for Switcheroo so def Tier 1.
In Diamond.
Look at top 1k Legend. It’s bottom Tier 3.
In legend it’s bottom Tier 2.
As you mention how unfun this deck is to play, it’s even more unfun to play against when Switcheroo works. There’s very little we can do to counter it. You can try and tech for it, however, there’s no guarantee you’ll draw Royal Librarian – which only silences one minion, which leaves another 12/12 on board to contend with.
I believe this card should be rethought. I also believe that the priest class needs some buffs to counteract losing Switcheroo.
I usually don’t buy the feels bad argument. I have to here because this card feels terrible, to me. It is diminishing my Hearthstone experience.
I forgot about that card; thank you.
