I’ve easily climbed to legend the last two months with it and i’ve never come across another mage running this deck. It wins early super easily with Contract Conjurer. It wins late slightly less easily with Mordresh/Astalor. You can outright check-mate people at full HP and counter basically every OTK deck if you play right.
It is an infrequently played deck with a positive winrate. I imagine it surprises people playing more popular meta decks and that the winrate would be lower if more people would play it because more people would learn the match-up. just had a game with it against big spell mage and it was pretty fun to Objection! the parrot
You face that many otk? I face maybe 10% of all games a warlock or a rogue going rogue… How do you even kill a druid with 80 armor?
Frost DK eats this deck for breakfeast, stomps like nothing and are dominating the ladder right now.
Outside the broken abomination DK the mage deck is pretty decent.
I’m definitely trying this. I haven’t had the pleasure of playing Secret Mage in years.
For any interested, below is the best Secret Mage deck I could find:

That’s the list I tried. It’s nowhere near the wild secret mage power level, but it’s fun and novel in standard where a lot of players seem unused to so many secrets. It’s also more like a secret/ping mage hybrid, and I enjoy both of those archetypes on their own.
After a few matches, it seems that this deck simply cannot handle early pressure, which unfortunately is everywhere right now. Wide boards are also problematic having no AoE. That 3 damage AoE spell that’s tradable may be a wise addition.
Oh, also @Skizzy, sorry I missed your message this morning; I was offline. Hope you’re doing well.
I run this but minus both suspicious alchemists, 1 Shivering sorceress, 1 multicaster and Arcane Intellect and add in 2x Vast Wisdom(legit a game saver sometimes), Astalor, Okani and one more Chatty bartender. If you get your 1/2 mana early minions you can hold off alot of aggro decks until turn 4 when you can board clear
I’m thinking that Fire Sale might be a really good inclusion. I notice this deck cannot handle wide boards, and in dealing with swarms from the likes of Unholy and Frost DKs, this card can completely turn around matches.
At best, it clears the opposing board. At worst, it helps you cycle through your deck. I removed and replaced the Suspicious Alchemists. I find that they benefit the opponent far too often, and encourage you to discover bad cards so your opponent doesn’t guess correctly and receive a good card.
So, here’s what the list looks like now:
Secret Mage
not a huge fan of it. You want to keep your board going too and this will basically wipe yours. Try Vast wisdom! You can pull clutch board clears for low mana with it
That may be the better idea, or to include both cards. I’m going to run this with Fire Sale for a little bit to see if it makes any difference (positive or negative).
I’m gonna try your list AlexFree. I do feel like vast visdom is better than the alchemist for discover because I’d prefer to not give my opponent more good cards for one thing.
Edited to update. I’ve settled on a final list, and believe this is definitely viable. I am performing well with it, grant it, I am only platinum, but am climbing.
My list is below. To be clear this is with replacing Alchemists and Sorceresses with Fire Sales and Vast Wisdoms. I’ve also replaced Arcane Intellect for Okani. Have fun!

Thats bascially what im running. Viable against lots of meta decks and can get lucky and win on turn 5 against some bad matchups
Even after trial and error. Even after improving this deck the best I can. I can’t get this to work consistently. It’s just too much early pressure when all you’ve got are 3 mana secrets.
