Suggestion: Honor system

OK so took this idea str8 from LoL :stuck_out_tongue: but i think it ll fit Hs as well.

Each time you play vs an opponent you can go at your friend list (last played match) and press an honor button, which means you liked the match. For every 10 honors a player gains hes gonna get a small gift (20 dust or 20 gold or something). Also each players will have a ‘‘give honor’’ limit to 10 so that he doesnt honor everyone he plays against but has rather to choose truly enjoyable matches.

Where this is gonna help:

  • Less BMing. If a player fights to gain honor he is less likely to BM you through emotes.
  • More deck diversity (especially in casual). I believe that if playing with a so called ‘‘funny deck’’ gives something usefull back to you, you will be more intrigued to do so. So, playing with a fun deck instead of a boring one might give you more honors in return
  • Blizz s dev team will get a better idea of what the community likes and therefore they ll start working towards these directions, since you can easily check the most honorable decks etc
  • Last but not least, its gonna be another ‘‘small side quest’’ which will push people to play more games.

So, what do you think guys?

Sounds like it an interesting feature to add to the game, but is it more interesting and better than other features? There’s a lot of small changes that could make the game better, so it’s really a matter of priorities.

Also, as far as the things that this would help, I’m not convinced it would actually lead to less BMing or more deck diversity, but maybe? I feel like you need more stats to back up a claim like that.

Furthermore, Blizzard already can see what decks people like to play, because people tend to play decks they like to play. I suppose it may help with seeing what decks people like to play against which is a big plus, and probably the best part of a feature like this imo. However, even then, people could press this “honorable” button for any number of reasons, like for example maybe just because some funny RNG thing happened, so I’m not convinced you could get much good information from it.

Not going to argue that people like getting more rewards in game.

It sounds like a great idea I’m assuming you get 10 honor every week. This could also see fewer people playing until the time limit which is so annoying and makes games last forever and the small reward sounds like a nice reward

Well its true and not true. Some people play decks they like but most people play decks that win, even in casual either cause they wanna get some quests done or either for gold farming.
Giving them one more reason to play an out of the meta inspiring deck might actually work

The down side would be people using alt accounts to play against themselves for the rewards.

You easily fix that by not allowing ‘‘honor’’ in friendly matches

Yes. That would work.

So I’m going to honor everyone who loses against me?

I like the idea in concept as a form to promote a friendlier game environment. There could be many ways the Dev could explore if they intended to.

I feel like very few people will bother with it unless the match was really noteworthy if you have to go through the friend list.

Maybe a prompt during the wait screen (with the wheel ticking down) you really want people to use it.

Maybe if both people honor each other they get the reward.

Seems like a system like this has been put in games before, not sure it really does what you hope it will.

Sure! Why not?

I wish we weren’t so limited to our one update a century though, I’d argue something alike to this should’ve been implemented a year in.

Neat idea. But knowing Blizzard probably won’t happen.

^^This^^, unfortunately.

We’ll likely see tons more 1:1 pack bundle deals and occasional special events long before they give us a way to consistently generate a noticeably greater quantity of gold or dust.

Sweet idea nonetheless.

Great suggestion!

I really like the small rewards idea! The only problem I see with this is the large part to the HS community that enters a match and immediately squelches their opponent to pretend they’re fighting against an AI. Maybe this would bring them back to playing normally though, who knows?

Oh, don’t underestimate the power of BM. Imagine you just got rofflestomped by some guy who spammed “Well played” and “Wow”, and at the end of the match, that little screen popped up “You have been awarded 10 honor!”. That’s giving them a way to kick you when you’re down.

Bad idea. Easily abusable and bottable (not to mention, that 2 gold/dust per game is a lot). No need to bring extra ways to cheat out resources.

If you really want something like this, then overwatch way is the only way to go - you get a fixed amount of reward and there’s a cap to “honor level” and how much you can get (and it’s also really minor).

Having that said, I really don’t see a reason for anything like that in HS. It’s a 1x1 game where you can’t even talk to your opponent. It’s important to get along with teammates (since that actually impacts your own result), but opponents? No, most definitely not. Taunting, tilting and doing anything you think can help you win are all valid tactics. No need to be “punished” for it.

What if I think they played dirty, or got too lucky, or cheated? Can i take honor from them? lol
