I’ve seen a lot of complaints about Stomping Stegodon and it scaling quite large in a short period. After playing a few games with it, I believe the bug is that it is sometimes multiplying the values of attack and health instead of giving the beasts +2/+2.
As an example a beast could start with 4/4 then next attack it grow to 8/8, then 16/16, then 32/32, etc. From what I have seen, it just keeps doubling the values instead of adding +2/+2.
The mechanic should be starting at 4/4 then going to 6/6, 8/8, 10/10, 12/12, etc., each time a beast attacks. In my observations I don’t see this happen each time, but only sometimes.
I would be curious to see if others have observed this behavior. It’s the only logical explanation to how the beasts scale so fast with Stomping Stegodon.
- Name of the relevant cards that were on the board and hand.
- Stomping Stegodon and other beasts
- Stomping Stegodon is multiplying by 2 for stats instead of adding +2/+2
- Platform and OS version (PC, Mac, Android Phone/Tablet, iOS)
Isn’t it simply because it’s exponential ?
First beast (stegodon) to attack gives +2/+2
Second gives +2/+2
Third gives +4/+4
Fourth gives +8/+8
fith +16/+16…
I could see how you are seeing that from the game card text. The way I am reading the game card text is that it’s a flat +2/+2, not a stacking +2/+2 to be exponential. I would appreciate clarity from the devs regarding how this is actually supposed to work as a mechanic.
The game text reads “Give your other beasts +2/+2 and this Rally”. There is no mention of stacking that buff or increasing the stats the buff gives. It simply reads give a flat +2/+2, not “Give your other beasts +2/+2, increase the stats, and this Rally”.
My thoughts are that it’s just something that is either not written right on the card text, or not implemented right through game mechanics.
These effects can stack, that’s not a theory, that’s how it works
It was the same in the past with Leapfrogger, among others
In constructed, they nerfed Nexus-Prince Shaffar so it doesn’t stack, and it’s explicited on the card : (unless it already has these effects)
So beast 1, Stegodon, gives +2/+2 and rally to all beasts
Beast 2 gives +2/+2 and rally to all beasts
Beast 3 now has the effect 2 times, so it gives 2 times +2/+2 and rally to all beasts
Beast 4 now has the effect 4 times…
What you may not grasp is that it’s not one rally that grows, it’s just that the minion can be given multiple times the same rally. Exactly how they can be given multiple times the same deathrattle. If there’s nothing preventing deathrattle stacking, there’s no reason to prevent rally stacking if nothing explicitely indicates it doesn’t stack.
It may be deeply stupid and unfun, but that’s how they designed it

The fact that some moronic developer thought having this card in this meta is beyond stupid.
This card is FAR above most cards in scaling and how mentally challenged you can be and still play it and win.
They should remove this piece of trash because it is literally making battlegrounds unplayable, unfortunately blizzard employees have the intelligence of a half eaten slice of cheese and are unable to do anything about it.
How this card is not changed by now is just stupid, easy money 0 work is the motto for those working for blizzard.

This card is just beyond broken. If beasts are in play it’s a race to 4 to find it. Nerfing it to +1/+1 won’t lessen the impact. It’s just mathematically broken.
