I recently tried installing Hearthstone and for the last few days I have been stuck at the tavern doors. After re-installing the game a thousand times, reading everything in the forums, reddit, etc. I called tech support and we tried 10 different troubleshooting methods which included trying most of the same things multiple times with no success. Finally I found an extremely simple fix and hopefully it can help others stuck in the same position. Here are the instructions: If you are on Mac, go to your app store and install a VPN… Yes, thats it. As soon as I did that, it launched immediately. It may seem silly and simple but I’m telling you, I tried everything and this was the only thing that worked, and luckily it was really simple.

Thank you for the pointer! I was having the same problem on my iPad 3. VPN worked for me as well.
That prompted me to do a little more digging on my home network and I found that my PiHole was blocking the “googletagmanager[dot]com” domain.
Once I white listed that domain, I was able to log in without using the VPN.
