Steamcleaner vs King Togwaggle

The “Steam Cleaner” card does not work properly when an opponent uses the “King Togwaggle” card.
If the opponent swaps his deck with mine and I use “Steam Cleaner” the cards from both decks must be destroyed since they did not initially start in our respective decks, I mean, my deck did not start in the opponent’s and vice versa.

This is not a bug.

“Steamcleaner” only checks for cards which did not start out in the deck. It does not matter which side the deck is on.

Steamcleaner destroys cards that did not start in EITHER deck.

It does not distinguish between cards that started in your deck vs your opponent’s deck.

Which is an explanation of the behavior
But explaining a behavior doesn’t necessarily means it’s the expected one

Destroy ALL cards in both players’ decks that didn’t start there

“There” is ambiguous. Not a single card from my opponent started in my deck.
If a card from my opponent is in my deck, it is in a place where it didn’t start.
That card literaly didn’t start there

Since the word is ambiguous, both readings are arguable, and they could change the behavior in the “gameplay” section of a patch, not even as a “fix”
Checking at translations, in french it’s on OP’s side.

The card translates back to
“Destroy ALL cards in both player’s deck that did not come from their base deck”.
Deck is singular each time, which indicates that it should not take the other player’s deck into consideration. Obviously not saying that french should be the correct version, but it shows how this ambiguity has been carried through translation

It is because if you use “Tony King of Piracy” and then someone uses “Steamcleaner” then your deck is destroyed, which is exactly what should be happening in the bug I mentioned.

No, those are 2 different situations.

“King Togwaggle” just switches the position of the decks. The position of the decks doesn’t matter if “Steamcleaner” is played. You can read it here on the Wiki:

https://hearthstone.wiki.gg/wiki/Steamcleaner#Notes

“Tony King of Piracy” does not switch the decks but he replaces you deck with a copy of the deck of your opponent.

Legendary · Minion · Festival of Legends · Battlecry: Replace your deck with a copy of your opponent

Now your deck contains cards which did not start there from the beginning of the game. If “Steamcleaner” is played now then your deck will be destroyed.

I understand what you mean but the description of Steamcleaner is still ambiguous.

And even in the link you have sent it’s wrong since it says:

“Deck-swapping effects, such as those of King Togwaggle and Tony, King of Piracy, don’t count as having cards in decks that didn’t start there. As such, simply swapping decks and playing Steamcleaner does nothing. It only destroys cards from decks that were there from outside sources.”

The notes are not up to date. Look at the Wiki page for Tony and the patch changes.

https://hearthstone.wiki.gg/wiki/Tony,_King_of_Piracy#Patch_changes

Tony used to swap the decks but this effect was changed.
