Starting the move MARIN to wild thread!

played a lot of standard today, and it was basically renostone for half my games today.
playing in the 4.5 to 7k range today

Reno warrior
reno druid
reno shaman
a couple reno rogues
even one or two reno mages

game is being dominated by once again reno, Almost every one of these decks is running Marin. and the Marin turns are getting ridiculous. Marin allows for to much mana it truly is getting just dumb for me to keep playing standard unless I go full on aggro to try to get under any reno deck. like have an unanswerable board by turn 4 or 5, painlock, pirate shaman or demon hunter, weapon rogue type of decks.

Marin into eonar into reno, marin into the chalice that draws 6 renos, marin into free yoggs, or just marin into zero mana reno that gets saved for a later turn.

anyways, all this to say is that Marin is probably the main culprit right now though I still say that Reno kills creativity

I have to wonder what took people so long to identify marin as a problem card.

Marin is fine. The wand is the problem. Draw 3 and reduce them to 0 is beyond broken.

No one is playing Marin for the 7 mana 6/6 body…

You know what a nice nerf would be? Remove the 0-cost-spells spell entirely; replace it with something else; e.g. draw cards until your hand is full.

I say this because certain classes don’t even need that spell; e.g. a typical stealing priest; it’s not starved of mana-stealing but of stealing minions.

It doesn’t itself make your hero explode, and there’s randomness to it, so it was kind of “sneakily” overpowered. However, the fact you get literally 4 different chances to do something game warping basically means the card is almost always going to win the game for you.

You have to be extra cursed for wand, crown, goblet AND statue to fail to win you the game.

Actually, the problem is not Marin, and i say that because Marin is just another iteration of Baron Toggwaggle, the one that needed 1 lackey to pick a treasure.
The actual problem is a bunch of cards that if drawn with 0 mana cost create OP situations.
And we’re back to the current powercreep cards rants.

I mean, toggwaggle was rogue only, which struggled to run anything expensive to use with toggwaggle, needed lackey generators to have consistency, had access to way less good hits off of wand draws, and didn’t generate all 4 treasures to be used because you played it once.

Marin is so much stronger than toggwaggle was simply due to not being limited to rogue… Add in the zero deck building restrictions, and generating 4 treasures for 1 card…

Yeah, Marin is the problem

It’s also more polarizing if you can ramp and play it several turns before your opponent or if you can multiply the battlecry. It could give you one treasure and it would still be played.

Marin is a fun card. Why you want to get rid of fun cards?

Getting rid of 1 card in marin will make way for multiple even more fun cards!

Yes it is because marin is in every reno deck and marin is keading to the free reno’s or copies of reno or tirns where they have reno bit got a zero cost eonar off of marin so they put up a massive board and reno your board the same turn

Smeet is right. Rogue-only is a huge difference; rogue decks often don’t even need that mana cheating in the first place; a big minions deck drawing 3 9-mana cards to 0 can just win a game without even trying.

Deled neutral cards from the game make it happen we can do it.

Just gonna keep quoting that

I propose a third solution. Make Pandaren Monk a class in the game and make him the “one true neutral” class.

Who actually likes Marin?

And no, the shill you quoted doesn’t count.

No, you don’t count.

Why would I?
I didn’t express either my liking or disliking.

Give it zero class cards, but it can include neutrals from wild sets. Hero power to meditate and discount the hand by 1.

What could go wrong?
