(standard) When will priest get help outside of IF meme?

According to hsreplay, Priest is still bottom third and has been for well over a year. Isn’t it about time the class got a little love?

Need some helping arms?

What is that supposed to mean?

It’s a reference to the recently-nerfed Extra Arms, I’m guessing. As for Priest needing help: I can’t not trust the numbers, but it’s very much not my experience. Quest Priest seems like a pretty decent midrange/control deck, particularly if you keep a Seance handy to steal a CW’s Elysiana.

It’s really no surprise that every Priest deck HAS to run DS/IF to be successful, when the class loses so hard in terms of value generation. It is not a class that has an entire late-game in one card, so it can’t be built to compete with the classes that do. The value just isn’t there, the tempo swings just aren’t there. The class just can’t go the distance.

While I dislike the combo, DS/IF Combo Priest is still showing as a strong deck, #8 r5-L, over the past 3 days.

As Sage mentions it is really tough to field a non-DS/IF deck right now as Resurrect isn’t a win condition in and of its of against other Control decks so you tend to need large burst. I had, I thought, a good MR Priest without DS/IF but the nerf to Extra Arms killed the deck as it now lacks redundancy on tier 2 if Injured Tol’Vir is not in opening hand.

I was sick and tired of playing DS/IF decks literally years ago and here we still are. Priests still stuck using this trash because they have no other way to close out games.

Pathetic job by the devs which is what I’ve come to expect from them with this class.

To be fair, the Year of the Raven was pretty good for non-DS/IF Priests, IMO. Of course, then you had the entire community whining about Gallery Priest, so… :man_shrugging:

I thought about this as lot. You only get 2 different types of priest decks: DS/IF or Resurrect control.

DS/IF is just a combo I dislike and I wish it would be moved out.

I think what priest is missing is a strong early game minion board presence that has some sort of removal or control built in. The 3 mana minion pool would be perfect.

I would suggest something like a 3 mana 2/5 minion battlecry destroy a minion with attack 3 or less and this minion takes damage equal to that minions health. It’s a good board presence that goes well with healing and helps establish a board presence at turn 3 while everyone else is pumping out minions on a turn priest is struggling to control. Cleric is the only real board presence priest has and after that the minion pool of decent minions dies until around turn 5.

Just my suggestion.

Well, the issue with giving good early minions to Priest is that they can use those minions to snowball the board with buffs into an easy DS/IF combo. Priest has been an all-or-nothing class for a long time.

Priest really need cards like shadow vision right now.
I don’t enjoy playing priest in constructed but im having a blast playing priest in arena.

That’s why ds and if need to go because they limit minions priest gets. All of the early priest minions are extremely weak stat wise.

he means when will spirit inner fire rotate so priest can get some real cards
