Wild is still fun, but standard is terrible. I understand the original idea of standard is to make it so someone that does not have every card in wild or just starting out can play and this probably still is true.
However, most of the fun cards are now gone like Death cards and most of the heroes are gone.
Instead they allow one over powered hero for Warrior to remain and make only that deck all powerful so that nothing else can win against it.
What they should instead have done going forward is to just get rid of broken cards that everyone complains about but keep fun cards so that more than one deck can still work.
I have not spent any money on this expansion and plan to stay in wild for the most part.

You can prefer Wild but the following statement is just false:
We now have a few aggressive decks that can beat it, 1-2 Midrange decks that are favored, and a Control deck that is favored. Bomb Warrior/Control Warrior is a top-5 deck for certain but nowhere close to unbeatable in the overall meta.

Lol the power level of bomb warrior in Standard is no where near as oppressive as half the top tier decks in Wild, what are you smoking?

OP I’m glad to hear u prefer Wild…however…
May I ask, are you experienced-recently with Wild?
I just R5’d today.
It was absolutely the worst HS experience I’ve gone through.
3 decks on repeat to R5…so better be able to deal with 2 of the 3 if you want a positive winrate.
WBP every other, every 3rd match.
Bloom lock every 2-3 matches.
Odd Paladin about 1 in 5 matches.
Other-aggro could do just-fine.
Basically if your deck cannot beat BOTH (there’s 2 now) of the big-midgame mana cheating solitaire decks…you aren’t ranking up.
This boxes out many, many of the homemade combos and synergies you think about. Let’s look at decently strong deck normally…Jade Druid.
What happens when Jade Druid faces Wild Big Priest and Bloomlock?
Well…unless they tech poison seeds x2 they’re pretty much runover by turn-5-6-7 done game.
See the problem?
As much as it seems Barnes isn’t reliable on T4…I absolutely swear every single WBP in my last like 10-15 I faced all of them coined Barnes or 4’d Barnes…so straight-up with 100 percent mulligan Barnes is consistent…whatever the numbers may say idk.

Is Poison Seed really even a tech card for Jade Druid at this point in time? I feel like it has been in the build so long now that it is just a given as it is really Druids only decent AoE ability against a threatening board.

Nonsense. I play the Bomb Warrior, I lose with it. I play Murloc Shaman, I lose with it. I play a couple of Rez priests, I lose with them also. I play a token Druid, and lose with it. I play a Mech Hunter right now that I love, I’ve lost with that also. I like to switch between heroes. It keeps the game fun.

That’s why you play arena!
I agree that Wild is much more fun right now in ROS than standard strictly because of the amount of the same decks I see in ranked. I have the statistics pulled up on my deck tracker right now and in my past 46 games this week, 38% of those games have been Tempo Rogue and Murloc Shaman… THIRTY-EIGHT PERCENT. Over a third of my games have been strictly against those 2 decks. I understand why they have standard, but in my opinion they need to have more cards in the opening expansion when rotating cards out because there is no diversity whatsoever in ranked play compared to wild.
Standard is in a better spot than it’s been in the last 2 years.
The games evolving again and new decks and strategies are being used and discovered daily.
Genn and Baku would of restricted that in a huge way.
Deathknights would still be running the meta, still dictating what each class can do successfully.
Cubes would still be a thing
UI would still be a thing
Scream and Shadow Visions would still be a thing.
Like this is the most pure Hearthstone fun you can have besides playing in the early days.
The only issue that will only get bigger and bigger is the fact that 2 classes have the ability to generate additional resources with their Hero cards. Essentially making them unbeatable in control matchups.
That will HAVE to be addressed in some way.

New decks and strategies…
Would that be the Tempo Rogue Van Cleef trick that never goes away?
Some kind of OTK Malygos Trick?
The Top decking Hunter super jack Scavenging Hyena?
Thee Double health inner fire Priest trick? Thats new?
Yes hearthstone is ever changing - just slip in a new few cards to the always Aggro, Midrange, Control decks and call it meta.
Zilliax! He is new. He was underplayed before last year so good thing he is in nearly very deck now.
The only thing different in this set is the discover / theft RNG cards are on steroids.

Tempo Rogue relies on Raiding Party, VanCleef like always is a high roll strategy. It’s not how you should play the deck if you want to play it properly it can win you games sometimes yes but is a highroll strategy. Raiding party and the new Weapon is the reason Rogue is so powerful right now. Both new cards
Hunter lost Diremole and Razormaw. It didn’t find replacements in this set so the whole opening and strategy is different to before. Ontop of that hyena hasn’t always been a thing, only in the last 3 months had Hyena being properly used in Hunter decks. Even though it’s a classic card and can be used forever. If it’s such a good card why hasn’t it? It also hasn’t got Rexxar, huge game changing deal.
Priest as a class has to play completely different to before. No Scream, Visions or DK to fall back on so how you play out each game is drastically different.
Druid doesn’t just ramp into stuff anymore because of no UI it has other strategies being supported. As well as not falling back on the DK
What are you really expecting?
Like you mentioned theirs only a few archetypes, (Aggro,Control,Combo,Midrange)
How would you evolve those archetypes into something completely different? Nearly impossible right… that’s why getting rid of Baku Genn, DKs etc makes such an impactful difference to the game.
Wild is really fun but standard just sucks. It shouldn’t come as a surprise at this moment though. There hasn’t ever been that many decks in ladder, let alone ranks 5-1. And when my struggling starts usually rank 3, I switch wild and arena because I honestly don’t have patience to climb (in other words bang my head on a wall and hope that wall breaks quicker than my head) legend since I’ve been there couple of times.
I don’t know how pros do it for living. Hearthstone is one of the most unforgiving games I know, and a big reason is that you don’t even have to do anything wrong in game. I’m not saying it’s complete rng bs etc, it’s just how HS works.

The biggest problem in standard atm is that it’s straight out boring. Whenever i make a deck, looking at my colection for every class my options of gameplans are too obvious for every single of them, and boringly simplistic if you ask me.
I mean I know that’s to be expected after a rotation but still.
Wild on the other hand, despite the anoyng cheese decks we all know, you have many options to play to have fun AND climb.
Sure, after certain ranks you can play only a small number of decks that can do well against the 3-4 decks you meet over and over, but you still can do much more than you can do in standard.
People complaining about net decking atm, can just look at their standard colection carefully, and they’ll realise that you don’t even need to net deck to make these decks. It’s the obvious use of the very limited cards we have available.

Standard is fine… they just need to STOP with these Infinite Value cards.

I only have 11,000 gold. Arena is expensive!
I know what your saying. I’ve decided to dabble a little in it.
I like the current meta and I think the expansion has been great.

I have decided to just keep 1 standard deck. My Warlock control deck is still fun.
I returned to Hearthstone after a 2 year break and the new gameplay’s style disgust’s me. New mechanics -> awful and Hearthstone -> soulless. It’s just a money beggar game now, made by a desperate company.
(I am a hardcore blizzard fan talking.)
How is wild “fun” when it’s basically res priest, quest mage, renolock or whatever other “unlimited ways to irritate” you decks?
