[Standard] Nerf Predictions

What you guys predict will be nerfed? What you guys think should be nerfed? (And shouldn’t be nerfed)

I’ll start.

What will probably be nerfed:
Murloc Paladin
Loh Druid
Menagerie Jug
Balhog (maybe)
Resuscitate (maybe)

What I wish should be nerfed:
Menagerie Jug
Tyrannogil (I think this is the only problematic card in Murloc Paladin)
Resuscitate
Colossus (I know it will not be nerfed, but this card is so incredibly toxic for the health of the game)
Ravenous Felhunter

What I think shouldn’t be nerfed:

Controversial, but Loh. The deck is literally a highroll deck that ignores the opponents board for the most part.

Hot Spring Glider. Compared to mana cheat minions of the past, this card is slower than those for an slight “upside”. This card is only troublesome because Tyrannogil exist, if Tyrannogil gets nerfed, this card becomes fair.

Balhog. The card itself isn’t the problem, the problem is Ravenous Felhunter.

Jug probably won’t be nerfed because of the “3 minions of different types”

They won’t touch priest cards until the next balance patch at the earliest. The first balance window 2 weeks after a launch only includes “high confidence” nerfs, so they’ll hit Loh 100% and there’s a pretty good chance they target murloc paladin, but very little else is likely to be changed.

The following balance patch will happen 1 month from now roughly, and then there will be another balance window before the mini set launch happens. My suspicion is that priest will be hit in the latter of those patches. The patch a month from now is likely to be a buff attempt, probably to improve performance of the failed quests from this set by reducing the amount of effort to get the reward (death knight to 12 corpses spent, shaman to 5 tribes, priest to 4 of each spell type, etc… stuff like that). I do think that wilted shadow priest will get struck down before the expansion is over, but not for a while because it’s one of the only new decks to emerge and it’s currently not overrunning the meta. I think they wait until just before the mini set launches to drop wilted shadow’s performance and make way for whatever cards they release then.

So for this first balance patch just loh and maybe some murloc stuff. Little else

They’ll either nerf only the power/sentiment outliers like hog, jug, resuscitate, murloc quest (I’m guessing the infestor treatment) and Loh (giants/ceaseless interaction) and buff the quests or nerf a lot of stuff (like colossus mage, imbue paladin and druid, starships/ancient of yore) and buff only what’s unplayable, which is what I’d hope since I don’t want to go back to the previous meta and lately the buffs have been backfiring a lot.

How this card keeps dodging nerfs is a huge mystery.

Card has one of the highest win rates in standard.

Probably because it starts “weak”

You are also missing about 4-5 DH nerfs. A deck that can aggro you down with straight to face in 4-5 turns 75% of the time is a REAL problem in the game.

I haven’t encountered aggro DH in my standard legend climb yet (atm rank 4 diamond). So, I can’t really comment on it until I face it multiple times. I’m usually just a Wild player, but I already got legend this season there (like at the 2nd day of the expansion).

I think I should be able to hit legend in standard in the next few days depending on my patience, and I’ll probably face the deck at the diamond 5 to legend grind, because the top decks (menagerie dk, priest and the aggro dh) seem to be concentrated at higher ranks while Murloc Paladin is just present at all ranks.

I hope they’ll do smth with OTK Priest

Also, how long will Rogue be able to have two 8/8 on the turn 4 and cause a lot of damage with asteroids at the same time?

Loh to 8
Murloc quest to 6 murlocs
Jug to +2/+2

That’s it I think

All the nerfs you want is going to do is for Murlock Paladin players like me to go back to Imbue and still win against your c-tier deck and there will be no decks from this expansion that will be good. We need buffs not nerfs and for you all to stop being salty and wanting literally the worst option.

The people on this board simply cannot stand to see a Paladin deck being above tier 3. The mere thought of ever losing to Paladin as a Mage or Rogue makes them froth with rage.
It’s sad, pathetic and cringe, but it’s the truth.

Erm, Imbue paladin and Drunken Paladin have been tier 2/1 at various points in the past few months.

Imbue paladin is still really strong, same with Drunken (which some top players consider to still be the best paladin deck).

Murloc Paladin is just all the rage atm, because the quest is new, and its probably one of the easiest decks to pilot ever.

However, it is true that quest paladin is the weakest of the current best decks. People aren’t complaining about the actual best decks, because they are rare across all ranks.

Yeah if you needed more than 1-2 legendaries to make Murloc Paladin it would be far rarer.
