Standard is a mess

I played in Standard for the better part of two hours and I can say without any exaggeration that the Standard meta is as bad as I have ever seen.
What I really want for Christmas is a brand new Team 5.
The old one is broken.

Aside from Evolve Shaman standard isn’t too bad at the moment.

Wild is both chaos and a safe heaven honestly. Just how I like it.

Yeah Evo Shaman is op and, unfortunately, Druids are creeping back, but other than that the meta seems fine to me. There’s variety, and several skill-rewarding decks are pretty strong.

Ya know I started running plague of madness in my rogue deck rather than stickyfinger and I love it, especially when they use the pirate and get that weapon back from it

You know, I could take the OP’s post, and replace the subject (standard/standard meta) with just about anything, and it’d make just as much sense.

This is classic politician talk. Bad things are bad! I’m against bad things and I’m for good things! I wish for Christmas we replace bad thing with good thing! (Up)Vote for me!

You’ve never been able to win any games ever outside of wild secret mage.

So your solution is to fire the entire dev team ? :joy:

Thanks for elaborating, very insightful post

Well, the OP could not possibly care less what anyone else thinks.
We had a meta where every class had a viable deck.
We now have a meta where three or four classes dominate the others.
It’s fundamentally broken and yet another example of the colossal incompetence in charge these days.
Power creep for select classes and dice rolls for others.
Busted mechanics for some, absolutely nothing for others.
The old drunk behind my local package store could do a better job.

Happy Holidays, Mell. You do know, as I’ve stated many times, there is no Team five. There hasn’t been for years.

The staff and culture-infrastructure have shifted considerably within Blizzard over the past few years. It’s not what you remember from maybe 3 years ago, at all. Not even close.

This is better than the OP, but still rather vague.

Namely, what does viable mean?

If viable means a very narrow definition like tier 1 decks only, AFAIK we have never had a meta where we had all 9/10 classes having tier 1 decks. Without diving into each and every vs report, 3-4 tier 1 decks is the norm, with 5 being a not too common occurrence.

If we count tier 1 + tier 2, we still can’t claim we have all classes covered. Some (like the shamans and warlocks of the past, priests are often teetering on this line) are left in tier 3 and below.

So do we include tier 3 and below? But by that point, you ruin any meaning for the second claim that things are worse today, since you can say everybody has a deck too today… if you count tier 3 and 4.

Everything you say is true and then some.
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Un’goro. There was multiple viable and fun decks for all classes.
