Squelching in Battlegrounds

I shouldn’t have to say this, I’m tired of getting the Thumbs Up Emote when someone eliminates me. We can do it in Standard Play, we should be able to do it in Battlegrounds too. Thank you.

You’re one of those people that gets upset when the opponent says “Well Played”, aren’t you?

Emotes are one of the tavern pass ‘perks.’ I don’t know why basic emotes are locked behind a pass, but I do know Blizzard isn’t going to invalidate those emotes.

I see emotes maybe once every 5 or 10 games. If you are getting triggered by the one person doing them, I don’t know what to tell you other than to grow some thicker skin.

Wow, thinnest skin ever.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen problem emotes in battlegrounds. Of course, I will sometimes wave goodbye when I KO someone.

I’m mean if I’m being honest, 90% of the time I’ve seen someone say it, it’s not meant to be sportmanlike but rather “haha I won you lost” as when they mistook something or they spam it during MY turn and I somehow reverse it on them, they immediately take to trying to spam request.

It’s hard not to take emotes in BGs with a grain of salt. Most of the time when I see people use them is always to BM someone. Waving as you eliminate someone is a HUGE BM and that’s what I see the most and generally used by someone who has high-rolled to the win, lol.

Although I wish they would add a few Emotes like . . . I need an emote to say “OH Dam man, I’m sorry my minion deathrattled 2 teir 6 minions to eliminate you . . . that was dirty” LOL.

Maybe the confused panda is supposed to be sorry. I don’t really get that emote. I also heard one emote referred to as a happy cow. I think I know which emote that refers to, but is that really a cow?

panda = you got a disgusting op board buddy…exasperate sigh

happy face = i’am snorting

thumb…only for the final match otherwise that dont feel like used properly

murloc waving = Kirby taunt spam to troll(SSBM reference)…or use to wave bye to a player that died…its such a trolly hi face that murloc XD

frankenstein face = your general raging boy//pretend to rage

sad face…i use it when i get kill(sad puppy noise in my mind)

with this out of the way…'spam waving at thread starter" must provoke hard

I often thumbs up to players who pull off an improbable win or tie.

And sometimes I wave when I KO someone who got me good earlier in the lobby. Things like out scaling patches with a menagerie and showing him the door get a wave.

It’s nervous/sweating out the round.

And I think this is intentional. If they were more serious one might be able to ascribe BM or other motivations. With these silly cartoonish ones, it’s just funny…to me, anyway.

“Well Played” can be mildly irritating at times, like when you’re struggling and you get absolutely decimated by 1st place. Sometimes it feels like the player is saying, “What a ridiculous farce BGs has become and isn’t that great?”

The beady-eyed soul-less murloc is the real deal. Bearing in mind that Blizzard themselves likely mean it to be errant & mischievious. (Their “culture” including no less than 1 employee unironically hate “white” males, after all. Class acts through and through?) 9 out of 10 times I see the emote is when I am eliminated. It smacks of “that” guy who excludes you from his “elite clique” if you’re not instantly down with his abrasive disrespectful “humor” when you first meet, and in a well-adjusted community this immature attitude does not survive elementary grade school, because treating friends and strangers exactly the same is idiotic & needlessly perilous, whether it’s perfectly well-meaning, or the intention is indeed to stir anger and resentment which is shameful.

On the other hand it’s a game, and a low-stakes one at that. BGs makes for a great patience trainer. Use this experience to temper it. Recall a time (D&D?) when rolling 1 in 6 was nothing to cry foul about. It flocking happens. Then you get to see who applauds your self-improvement, and who resents it after all, who hates you when you’re clever, and despises a fool.

I see an emotion in BGs like in one game in 10, and it usually not for me.
Very few have this worthless batllepass and even fewer want to use those garbage emotions, which look like sheet and do not even match game style.
