It’s official. The deck is so bad it’s not even worth mentioning anymore. A week passed and it’s back to Rainbow Mage. Maybe next expansion we will get the chance to play a new deck after playing Rainbow Mage for a year as the only viable deck … or not, who knows with these developers.

Wierd take given No Minion Mage sees way more play than the rest.
That site just doesnt list decks with low win rates but in play rates it destroys all other types.
The deck is one of the most beloved decks in the class ever, both Elemental and Rainbow wish they had the same appeal.
As time goes on and people grow tired of playing the below 40% win rate Spell Mage it will stop seeing play. It only saw play bec there was nothing else but now with the refined Rainbow list the way forward is obvious.
A fun but bad deck can only see play for so long.
10 years of Hearthstone history say otherwise, Mage players will endure the most terrible win rate decks over and over again if they are fun.
Its not by chance that Mage is the class with the least top tier decks EVER and still sees massive play rates.
This current no minion Mage is going nowhere , just like last time it will get a full year of support.
For me its easy the only reason to play the class right now, those that are so set on top tier decks should stick with the boring classes they get those decks like candy every expansion.
You are giving the deck too much credit. Playing rainbow mage right now is actually more fun bec the deck has more interesting includes. Spell mage is just yogg box while rainbow uses zilliax and khadgar.
Spell mage isn’t as interesting as you make it seem on a larger scale. And I can tell you that because I have played both decks.
I believe that a deck’s power makes a deck more interesting/fun and spell mage is too weak to not drop off in popularity after some time. Get blasted 5 games in a row bec of yogg box casting wheel and you’ll just close the game.

I just went to the standard tab and filtered by mage since that’s where new lists show up. It’s all rainbow and an elemental list, it doesn’t even show there, lol. I have a list I play I just wondered if there was a more refined version over the passing of days.
No im not No minion Mage jumped to +30% play rate when it became the n2 in power 1 year later in Barrens.
Thats why it got nerfed even though the boring Paladin deck rulling the meta at the time didnt.
In 1 year time with enough support we will be at the same place.
Same thing for Hero Power Mage, disaster launch sub 40% win other better Mage decks to play still got TONS of play.
Bunch of cards got buffed and got a ton of support.
Because it was popular.
The only tab worth going to is Misc > Meta Tier List
well yeah in one year anything is possible, the problem is now. It’s only sensible to buff no minion and nerf sif to create new decks, like how they did with odyn now.
rainbow mage has continuously been the most competitive deck for mage since its release. It’s time for a new deck to take over, that’s my two cents.
Spell mage is horrible, but fun
Its rough seeing rainbow mage being the only viable mage if you want to win, but I enjoy playing spell mage, even if the spell only package was horrendus, so horrendus they didn’t even make a legendary for it.
This; is the far more likely scenario for those who have tried gambling as a living.
Based on your replies elsewhere, I’m just gonna’ conclude that you hate mage, and want every single deck it has to be garbo.
It’s a very ouch moment for the Mages. I don’t even think i could play Mage for fun right now it’s so painful.

Practically every winning deck, no matter the style, that mage has had gets nerfed these days, and has now for years.
But players accuse me of exaggeration, even though stats don’t lie.
Rainbow mage is more fun and a better deck too.
With that said the one card we got is kinda nuts.
Khadgar is nerf material regarding individual powerlevel and there is space to play norgannon in this meta.
He is not. He is just a good card.

People can delude themselves ALL they want.
The thing is that the exact momment mage gets good khadgar is going to the chop block.
It is overpowered and made overpowered on purpose to make a counterpoint to no minion mage and compete with it for popularity between mage players.
But we are talking about a card competing for attention against a entire archtype.
With that said there is a good chance it will never happen not because it not deserves but because it simply will not gain traction enough between even more broken stuff from other classes and the extreme addiction archtypes like no minion mage cause.
