If you make your Quest mage a spell deck. How much mana cheating you are getting on a single deck ?
Not only that but spot the difference gives you 2 steps of progress while pocket dimension is the perfect card to play after you get your Quest reward.
In fact pocket dimension is so good regarding using the Quest reward that Will make king’s relic see no space in the list.
I’m really looking forward to it. Spell Mage is one archetype but the fact that the effect of the quest is not limited to spells but includes all cards with Discover opens alot of interesting possibilities.
Finally the Mage gets more room for experimentation instead of just finding the most effective deck for an archetype.
Id be worried about mage survival… I mean you get that one deal 3 damage to a single minion for discovering but you’re going to have to stuff a bunch of awful mage defensive spells to survive through playing discoverstone.
Just in case someone hasn’t seen it yet. There was some info concerning the quest on Hearthpwn:
"Everything The Origin Stone plays is a copy.
Theotar + The Origin Stone: It will play copies of the other two card. It will not rip them from your opponent’s hand.
Finley + The Origin Stone: It will ignore hero powers, and not consume a charge.
Maruut + The Origin Stone: Maruut will discover A, B, and C. If you choose A, it will be summoned. Then a copy of B and C will be summoned. Then the original B and C will be added to your hand. You end up with A B C in play, and B C in hand.
Vulpera Scoundrel + The Origin Stone: Vulper Scoundrel will discover A, B, and C, and it will also show mystery choice M. Choosing the M is not a discover, and nothing will happen other than receiving the mystery choice. If you choose A, then B and C will be played, and nothing will happen with M."
We are forgetting that during the match you gonna hit many times either spell mage cards or Discover mage spells.
As i said:
The mana cheating for this deck is unreal and it will be rare to even have a single turn without some happening.
The pocket dimension is more of a finisher in the sense that you gonna be able to curate what will be happening while going all in without much opportunity to get hit by viper.
And when you are done there is story of the waygate for a final push with what you got in hand that If you are a good player you gonna pick direct damage away from being casted when possible.
This deck is mana cheating on top of mana cheating on top of mana cheating in the sense that:
You play many cards made for specific decks who are powerfull for the cost.
Your reward casts extra spells.
When you are finished you gonna still have a hand of spells to discount or even already discounted if you are lucky.
That put together with the older versions of spell mage that had only manufactory error as draw and the fact Quest decks always play the Quest turn 1 reducing the average hand space usage.
That deck really looks like something powerfull to be part of the metagame.
