Spell Damage Mechanics

Hi, Just started playing yesterday. Is there somewhere I can read basics? I’ve looked around and the basic description of how spell damage works doesn’t seem to match my experience. If I have a minion with spell damage +1 shouldn’t fireball do 7 and what about Arcane Explosion? Thanks

If you have a minion with Spell Damage +1 Fireball does 7 and AE does 2

Yes. Read text on cards and pop-up windows which appear when you hover mouse over cards. Also listen what teachers in introduction say.

There are quite a few Spell Damage increasing cards you should look into specifically.

Depending on class of course, but for example as a Mage these cards are amazing hand and hand -

Cosmic Anomaly + Sorcerer’s Apprentice is a nice combo.
Celestial Emissary + Fireball is a nice 8 damage Leeroy type finish.
For the budget that is.
If Spell Damage Mage is your kind of thing you may also be inclined to look into Dart frog cyclone variant Spell Damage decks. You just basically need a bunch of low cost spells, Magic Dart Frog and a single of 2, Epic called Mana Cyclone.

You’ll have a lot of threat, and can control the board against most board needing decks like Murloc Shaman, Token Druid and Carpet Warlock. In fact, the deck would be rather cheap and you prey on these very commonly seen playstyles.

Feel free to add me in game bud!

When I started playing, I learned a lot of useful stuff from the guides at “icy veins”.

They have been updated after I read them, but the last update is not very recent. So I cannot vouch for how valid they are now.
