Before i report this i want to discuss this
Southsea captain the text does not grant plus 1 health and attack.
I damage the one pirate it has one health.
He then plays southsea captain it has one health more but when i kill the southsea captain the pirate does not revert back to 1 health it has now 2 it does however lose its attack.
Nowhere does it say grant your pirates plus 1 plus 1, the stat buff clearly is meant to be temporary.
My point is this if the buff was meant to permanent why does the pirate lose the attack but not the hp ?
If you play Equality with Captain they go to 2 health until Captain dies.
So if for instance you did the old Pyro-Equality, they go to 1 health first, then pop to 2 because of the Captain. Then they all lose one health from Pyro going to 1, but Captain dies (because he doesnât get his own buff) and the others donât die, they all stay at 1 and go to max one health.
Captain absolutely provides an expendable extra health point. But they canât keep it if they donât use it first. So your 1/2 would still go back to a 1/2 if it wasnât damaged.
My point is simple the attack is reduced to normal but the health stays the same - if the stat gain was meant to be permanent both would stay the same not just the hp , are we agreed.
After reading my post i am convices of this bug and will report it there.
You do what you want. But itâs no bug.
You got an additional health. The difference is that thereâs max health and current health. With attack it doesnât get reduced if you are hit by the opponentâs weapon or value trade.
You know this card is a mainstay in BG, and itâs been working the same way there for a year now. Nobody is complaining
Itâs 100% intentional. But yes, it is indeed ridiculous, as the Captain leaving the board should logically result in all Pirates losing 1 health, but for some reason thatâs not how they do things.
Itâs similar with other cards. Say a 1/2 minion gets 1 damage so it becomes 1/1, then it gets buffed with Apotheosis putting it at 2/3. If it then gets Silenced (without ever been healed), it becomes 1/2 instead of 1/1. Completely illogical, but this isnât a very logical game apparantly.
My argument is stil this if the attack goes away why does the health stay this is my question and i dont feel it has been answered yet.
Other than âbecause Blizzard failed math classesâ, there isnât any answer.
Based on the fact that no one sofar here has been able to answer me ,the logical conclusion is this is a bugg i spotted it and i have reported it as an bug.
oh that´s not a bug, it´s a feature.
But i agree while it is a consistent mechanic it is terribly counterintuitive.
i think even in Grandmasters someone messed that interaction up the week earlier if I remember correctly.
for some reason, but very true
Calling it a feature changes nothing it makes no sense i am sorry.
It doesnt change the fact that if the buff was intended to be permanent the attack would stay the same.
In the future i can just say any bug is an feature i mean no disrespect and i actualy like you but what does calling it a feature change - nothing sorry.
Itâs not a bug, itâs the way auras work. Southsea Captains provide an aura that provides +1/+1. Auras are coded so that itâs an active benefit, meaning that it cannot be an active disadvantage. If a minion has 1 health, it cannot be killed by killing the aura that buffed it previously. Thatâs why thereâs a difference between static buffs (âgive âxâ +1/+1â), and active auras. It would be super broken if you could simply kill the aura bot and wipe out a bunch of other minions. Giving affected minions a maximum of 1 hp instead of killing it isnât exactly gamebreaking.

Well then why does the minion lose the attack you all keep saying it isnt bug but no one has explained this ??
I keep getting replies about the hp remaining but no one and i mean no one can explain why the attack goes down but the hp remains please address my actualy quesiton instead of saying it works and not answering my question.
So to make it clear i will make it simple - why does the minion lose the attack but keep the hp buff.

The attack will not go down if it had a debuff on it previously. The game counts what ever loss in stats as if it was taken from the scoundrel. Otherwise it would probably take a lot of coding to track and organize from what the debuffs took stats.
The attack goes down if seen it multiple times i am a logical man and this to me seems wrong.
This has been around forever. Remember encountering this playing patron warrior and using whirlwind effects. Always kill captain first if possible.
It wouldnât be though. If all Pirates have been reduced to 1 health even with the Captainâs buff, it means they wouldâve been dead without the Captain anyway: the Captain dying causing them to die wouldnât be a disadvantage, it still wouldâve been an advantage to you that they stayed on the field for longer than they otherwise wouldâve.
I could be wrong, but I did think the scoundrel reversed 1 debuff in attack.
We are answering the question, you are just refusing to accept the reality of the argument that happens to differ from what you have in your mind as the truth. Thatâs not on us, thatâs on you.
Itâs completely acceptable for minions to go down to a minimum of 0 attack depending on buffs or debuffs. It is not the same with health. Aura coding dictates that a 1/1 minion, getting a +1/+1 aura, will go to 0/1 if it loses that aura, not 0/0. Auras cannot kill minions, only benefit them.
Here is the replay see for yourself looka the pirate i attacked it loses 1 hp then gains 1 attack and 1 hp now see what happens to its attack when the captain leaves and what happens to hp,
That is what we like to call a bug.
