Now hear me out before calling me such and such. Or saying you can easily counter these decks with these cards.
Some Stelina (demon hunter) combos due to a unbalanced hero power. I’ve litteraly seen some stelina get 17+ damage in 1 turn due to the stupid second slices, some weapons and spells. This 17+ is very hard to come back from if you are not even at game number 5 in duels
Silver hand recruit paladin. Oh boy oh boy where do i even start with this one. There is a 5(not sure maybe it was 6 or 7 but still) cost character that gives all your silver hand recruits +2/+2 for the rest of the game. Which doesn’t seem so bad untill you think of these 2 facts. Number 1: thid minion can easily be put back in your hand using zyra or any other card that gives a copy or puts it back in your hand.
Number 2: there is a hero power that summons a silver hand recruit and puts another one in your hand. This is way overpowered as in a game i played earlier this person on turn 5 had reordererd their deck from highest to lowest and on turn 6 had 5 3/3 silver hand recruits and some other cards like the lion. To top it off if this person gets the cannibalism passive. Its just not fun to play against
There are some other decks that are really strong but of what i can remember right now these decks are broken en not fun to play against.
All decks that aims to ge high on win count has to be broken.
If your deck isnt broken you would score like 5 wins max.
It isnt mode aimed around well balanced gameplay.

In a way you are right. But the game still needs to be fun to play. When your deck is so broken you know you won before it has started then something is wrong
I think this is the nature of duels. It’s always going to be very highrolly because of how strong the passive treasures and active treasures can be.
If battlegrounds is slot machines, duels is roulette. You can either bet on red/black and get to 3-5 wins, or bet on a specific number (like deathrattle hoping to get 2x deathrattle treasures) and hope to get to 12 wins or bust.

I love this example
Havent thought about it that way.
So basically either you feed into toxic gameplay or you never get anywhere. That is not the kind of behaviour i would promote in games. Seems like it might scare new players off.
And who said duels is geared towards new players?
You know that you have this type of player called OLD PLAYER that likes content geared to him once a blue moon.

Those examples are far from the most busted things i’ve seen so far.
Especially Paladin… While it’s most likely I’m lacking cards to make a strong base deck, and Paladin has never been a main for me, i’ve tried throwing everything I own at the two hero powers and treasures combinations and nothing can get me to even 3 wins. It’s so pathetically slow compared to what other classes bring.
By contrast i’ve seen rogues with infinite poisonous pings, and I’ve played Mage with a double cast spell that does 8 base damage to face + freeze. I went to 8 wins half asleep with that deck.
I don’t like Paladin at all. I picked it twice in a row, first time got taken by the 0-3 police. Added Broom the second run and went better.
I think Turtle Rogue is fantastic. It’s so much fun to be able to bank the turtles, and you can then use board and minion buffs in Rogue, which is normally very hard to pull off.

The silver hand paladin really doesn’t seem to be that good. The best I got was 7 or 8 wins (but more often I got a 3 or even lower wins result, which is really very below average compared to any other decks I played). I really don’t see how it could ever go to 12. For my heroic runs on paladin I’m back to playing big/DS paladin.
P.S. Both big and silver hand paladins are quite miserable if you don’t get rocket backpacks.
Old school players or pay to players. Ive been playing hearthstone for ages. I took breaks due to broken metas here and there. But other then that I’m an old school player as well and i’m not always having fun.
Deathrattle paladin got me to six wins once. If you want your minions to die, why not bring one back for two mana with only one health? It’s hilarious if you have Undertaker out early, and the opponent kills the Undertaker over and over and over.
Yep, just did a 12 - 2 run with outcast DH and one of those 2 losses got crushed by this with double battlecry and minions gain 1 attack whenever 1 dies.

It’s not broken, it’s working as intended
