Solid Alibi - Mage Spell

Epic Ā· Spell Ā· Murder at Castle Nathria Ā· Until your next turn, your hero can only take 1 damage at a time.

Animated Armor affect until your next turn.
Seems really strong, especially for stalling for OTKs. Mages version of Cloak of Shadows.

I hope there isn’t a way to easily generate this

  1. This is pretty darn good. It’s Ice Block lite, but cannot be teched against. Good trade off.

  2. Excellent and cheap hit off Rune.

  3. I wonder how many future decks between now and rotation will play this as their only Frost card just so Varden recasts it.

  4. More defensive power for my SKELETON FROST MAGE!!!

The Legendary Naga can give you copies if you play it while its in your hand. That and the Naga that teaches a a spell that costs 3 or less.

given the added armor spells for mage, this will make it really annoying to deal with.

this has strong cloak of shadows vibes. (both could be partially bypassed, but effectively granted you a turn).

From the recent reveal, this plus red herring has dulled down my excitement for this expansion by a huge degree.

This is huge for Mage , the frost element is finaly a powerhouse after this expansion.

Beyond solid defense and offense 2 mana spells, the 2 best cards of the set for Mage.

Now to find a way to get an infinite amount of these…

Can’t wait for quest mage to be even less interactive lol.

This does nothing against Sire.

Is this a spell that mage’s needed? I read that it’s one of the best classes right now, already.

the best mage deck is big spell mage

based on the deck name alone i doubt they ll run it

There’s also Mech Mage and Ping Mage. These are still good decks. I can see this card improving those decks. One turn of immunity is huge. I did not play back when Ice Block existed. I’ve heard it’s problematic. Maybe it’s not?

i wouldnt be so sure about that.

in the actual animation of Sire, he doesn’t get to do multiple pings, rather he does all the damage that he’s suppossed to do to each target simultaneously.

So, unlike something like reno machine gun, or missiles, I think the ā€œamongst the targetsā€ actually just splits the damage when casted and deals it in one go.

If that’s the case, it will only do 1 damage to face.

you can see it in 3:28

very boring card and design

inmunity is paladins ā€œtime outā€

dont know why is being compared to ice block(unless you play icebarrier on the same turn youll still take damage )

It’s the closest spell I could think of at the time. I guess that that rogue spell is a better example.

it’s more akin to Cloak of Shadows and Time out rather than Ice block.

Less problematic than iceblock because you can’t ā€œprecastā€ those types of spells. But still problematic in the sense that those type of spells have only been used in decks like OTK paladin and Weapon rogue.

Basically getting free extra turns to chuck your damage/combo without worry of death.

I’m only speculating, but, might we see the resurgence of Quest Mage? Although a widely hated deck, I nevertheless found it fun to play. I’m unsure why that deck was killed, meanwhile we have Quest Hunter doing nothing but clearing the board and damaging your hero. And then comes the machine gun – all from hand.

This is BS and a clear example of bias toward the mage class.

The most important factor for that would be 2 extra extremely strong ice spells that you can use to complete the quest, one of which, yes, is this.

So it is very possible to see Q mage back.

that’s a lie, since Q hunter was nerfed immediately when it became good, and nerfed so hard it dissapeared from the face of the meta. It only came back with Renathal now, and we know that there aren’t going to do balance passes in the period of ā€œfree xpac leggo - actual xpac releaseā€

Closest comparison is probably Evasion.
