BigPriest and Shudderwock Shaman… if those were problems, hyperaggro decks untouched, cept discolock which was basicly fine in legend with the amount of even warriors the deck faced…good job NOT.
I agree that those nerfs were bad… because they didn’t go far enough or hit wrong cards. Shadow Essence was fine, the problem was Illuminate + Shadow Essence. So yeah, the nerf to Shadow Essence slowed the highroll a turn but left the highroll in. ANd we know what they say about polishing turds.
Same thing with Shudderwock. Yes, Flurgle went up to 4 mana but if played from Scargil it only costs 1. So again they made the highroll slower but left the highroll in.
Both Shudderwock and Big Priest were begging for nerfs because those decks were in Wild forever and they were a really “feelsbad” gameplay experience. And with Tony Druid being axed those decks can resurface. So those nerfs, meek as they are, were trying to adress that.
Hyperaggro decks untouched? What would you call banning Mechwarper? Love letter to Mech Paladin(and rare Mech Rogue and Mage)? I get it, Even Shaman was begging for nerf for a year but after such a long neglect it’s unreasonable to expect that Team 5 would heal all of Wild with just one patch.
Yeah honestly i was kinda a little dumbfounded by the mechwarper ban. It was a major problem in what enabled the t2 crystal core rogue to complete quest 2, prep + play 3-4 sparkbots for 0 mana… And then prep and play the completed quest on turn 3.
But it was also a core card in mech pally as well, which i also owned. Though, i suppose my current deck rotation were soft countered / didn’t enjoy facing mech pally as well. And it also got botted the last few months even if i owned a few lists.
So, it seems a odd nerf. i honestly woulda expected a nerf to the sparkbot generator itself or perhaps upping the price of crystal core’s quest reward 5-> 6, or banning/axing crystal core.
Thankfully, crystal core is such a old and previously chain nerfed cards, even when it was pretty degenerate, it seemed few (if any) people kept onto it, or held onto it, and no one published a list so the deck died without many people trying it when it was at it’s peak, but a t3 lethal with t2 nonsense was about as fiesta as it gets.
You shouldn’t have a 2 mana exodia that uses like 3-4 cards in your hand that just spell out. “If i have these in my hand on turn 2. Good luck with my 20/20 windfury/divine shield / taunt/lifesteals.”
To be honest i didn’t really expect the shadow essence nerf but not really complaining either. Certain decks had better times with it rolling it over without complaints. Other decks got locked into infinite Neptulon/Blood of ghunn walls. It’s another deck i remember getting softlocked into…
My first one had enough burn to bypass and destroy them through it… My 2nd deck got softlocked into hitting 20 ghunns… maybe clearing 2-5… and eventually dying as removal exhausted.
It’s a deck that really just kinda either dies like a fart before it does anything, or traps you in a unescapable wall of endlessly returning taunts that summon more taunts. The most successful decks beat it by not interacting with it. The other ones got punished by any clear bringing it back. Even though wr probably was never oppressive globally, i can definitely see why it would get nerfed as a play outlier. I probably yeah woulda expected the dredge card over shadow essence though.
But eh, last time i petitioned for a deck to be brought back for “fairness”, i got my own deck nerfed 3 times even over the t1 lol. So… Hey…
Pardon me if i just silently try to farm a mech pally/big priest free meta with my other deck that got chainlocked into smashing their head into 20 tauntbubbles lol. XD…
I suppose it is true with these changes, even shaman remains untouched, and old flurgl was unenjoyable and could softlock spelless decks. I think the changes are good for balance.
I’ve been accidentally reaching top 200-500 wild casually playing and testing decks. And honestly there’s some few dominant sleeper decks that i’ve seen spreading like wildfire that didn’t even exist a week ago.
The very curse of wild though is if you reveal the deck, they spread like wildfire. But it was already a top 100-500 legend deck… made with miniset. That saw 0 changes while all it’s counters got nerfed. I don’t want it to see play and i ended up accidentally getting one since i hated the deck but found out i accidentally owned 29/30 cards…
But if you see a deck that plays 24/24 edwins on turn 4, mind controls your minions 1-5 times, and has shadowsteps and bounces… you know the one lol… That thing is like so weird… It’s kinda very unenjoyable to play against, but it can be surprisingly complex to play. It’s like you’re trying to pilot a slot machine.
It’s probably one of the more complex decks to pilot, but your opponent pov is slamming the table as you summon 20/20s, mind control all their minions, summon 20/20 copies with rush on t4, and proceed to steal or make all their minions destroy each other 5 times in a row at wild’s top 100-500 legend.
I’m still not sure what to make of the deck, or what you’d even hit. But hey. you know the drill. Hearthstone is expensive, decks are expensive, and we all get stapled to one. Guess im gonna be stapled to it lol as a #2 option. But man, gonna mess around with deck #1 to see if i can tech it to counter #2…
Cause the base version gets stomped… But wild has like… 1000s of cards to mess with… And i think i rediscovered a card that can counter deck #2 on curve. Just have to see if it ends up working in practice though.
Tl;dr attempt
Ding dong the witch is dead! Halleluah! Though… Other op stuff dodged nerfs… But if you can’t beat em,or afford to play much else f2p, might as well join a deck youown 29/30 cards of, right?
you forgot about the spirt of the frog otk that one got nerfed too
Yeah you right, but mechpala is still able to kill on turn 4, like the rogues coming out the closet with 18/18 van Cleef on turn 2 or having 5 8/8 giants on turn 4…
Edit: so without the highroll (which was not that common for me atleast) you are cannon fodder against anything that kills you by turn 6… just played against kingsbane rogue, 6 turns of nothing and finally when i could play my discounted essence for 6 i was dead.
I dont like this game anymore.
Funny thing because word your post as if you disagreed with mine and yet you say that mech Paladin can kill you turn 4. Glad that we agree.
As regards big Priest, I don’t know why they nerfed Shadow Essence because:
1 the deck was mediocre for months now so it seems random
2 they did not touch Illuminate highroll which was the main complaint people had
But I guess that goes well with their usual practice of nerfs that not adress the issue or nerfing things that are not the issue.
