…sitting at a 4.86 placement. I’d never got him before so I tried him today.
I used his hero power every turn including 1 where I got a token and the two heroes I bet on tied every time. For 8 turns. 8 ties in a row, no losses, all ties where no matter who I picked it was just negative 1 gold.
Now I know that’s really bad RNG, but it got me wondering, maybe a simple fix to bring him in line would be to refund your gold IF the two opponents tied.

He’s best in control warrior imo since you have easy options to kill it instantly oh you mean battlegrounds.
He can give a lot of gold if you get lucky, as well as have good general knowledge of all the heroes and what they do on each turn. Paying attention to who leveled up recently can also play a factor.
It does take some luck, and it sucks when they tie. Gold refund on a tie would make sense to me for a buff.

For goodness sake can we please get a BGs subforum?

I just know when they aren’t saying Priest is annoying, Hunter is Op, or Mage is bad that they’re probably referring to BGs.
I mean contextually Lord Barov is a fantastic card, so it can only mean one other thing here.
But yeah it’s annoying to have to sift through two different game format threads in one section.

That’s just bad luck, and you can’t really help that sometimes. Barov is a lobby dependent hero. I’ve had games where I win the bet nearly every single round. I’ve had games where its just suck town because the lobby is not split between strong heros and bad ones.
If you want consistency Barov is not a great choice. If you like a fun hero that could also end in disaster he is a great hero.

Hes bad yes. Ties do happen quiet often in the early game specially.
Unless you get lucky with a very obvious matchup where you can tell the outcome based on what opponent had in first round but even then it can be tricky.
And things like lich vs al akir or vs millhouse or vs even ratking and yog,its very difficult to predict even if you have some info about the first fight. You can gamble later and simply lvl at 2 (which is probably the most solid play overall) but then you are playing without hero power for the first few turns and your first hero power will be at tier 3 and then still anything can happen really while the advantage of the 2 gold that you can gain becomes lower and lower.
Barov is fun but not good. Miss once and your next win only gets you 1 gold gain. He should refund 1g on ties. Would help quite a bit.
I like to sell a token on turn 1 and use power and use power on turn 2 as well. Early rounds are some of the best I think if you hit heroes like lich king or yogg or akir vs whoever. These heroes have a big adv and will win most early fights. IF your game has all scrubs then yah he is terrible.
