So lamplighter gets nerfed. Does mage survive?

Droping it to tier 2 is sincerely enough don’t you think?

We had far more braindead decks going rampant for months and if the question is the burst we still have handbuff paladin up to this day.
With will enter the discussion either people wanting it nerfed or not due to performance.

It depends on what other things get nerfed. If it’s just lamplighter? Eh, probably not.

If they also neuter a bunch of other stuff, maybe?

Tbf, aside from lamplighter, combo druid and zilliax I wouldn’t want them to touch too much this time around. If we go down the slippery slope of nerfing left and right it’s control warrior all the way until pre-patch and I’d rather have this meta ngl.

Can’t really disagree with that.

Would even go as far to give taunt to another module just to be sure that even zilliax decks would not change too much.

Yeah, Odyn warriors with 16 mana are also a very scary prospect if they kill the OTKs and stop the Zilliax mass rez nonsense they currently do.

My prediction…though not really much of one considering Blizzards absolute contempt for the Mage class.
They will nuke lamplighter in some spectacular way to ensure Mage drops back down to the bottom, at the same time they will ignore all the other issues, perhaps making some sort of half hearted minor adjustment to something else.
This has been the recurrent them for mage class since early on. Ignore everything else, claim “working as intended” or “wait for rotation” while simultaneously wielding the nuclear powered nerf hammer on mage the moment they get a “zomg they can do something other than RNG casino a win occasionally!!! This is the worst thing that has ever happened, how dare mages be able to consistently win a game!!!111!!oneonebbq!!!”
Warrior is fine…LULZ…

I find it funny that anytime a board based deck is anywhere close to being viable people bring out the pitchforks. Its no different than handbuff paladin with the inevitability of a 20/6 leeroy and people are always trying to get that class/deck destroyed.

I guess we should all just be stuck playing concierge druid / hydration station borerior

Pirates vs elementals has been one of the bright spots of this expansion.

Yes ,whatever Druid is playing.
Aka the better Mage ,the deck im playing in Druid wouldnt last 1 week in Mage without nerfs.

And yes Lamplighter will eat a nerf that will drop the class to the lower ranks because thats what that rabid masses want.

What if the Lamplighter elemental count is reset after each use? That prevents it’s abuse.

We now have 2 retarded decks that win by spamming Lamplighter. The card is totally uninteractive. If you take the Lamplighter out, the decks are abysmal.

It’s still possible to pull off the combo with the discount. You just shadowstep the 1 mini instead of lamplighter. It’s not more mana.

Name one good deck/class that does not rely on a toxic strategy?

You gonna go the rabbit hole of playing 4 cards instead of 3 just for it?

Go ahead. Some people really only learn how dumb they are when they try the dumb stuff they say. So just go ahead.

I disagree, and I’m interested in seeing where you got the data from?

I barely see any elemental Mages anymore, Rogues a bit, every now and then, but also rarely

You can literally shut down mage by playing one tactical AoE removal when she plays the 4-drop, and also, don’t miss to drop a minion or two to soak up ping damage, gg

Aren’t rogue players used to playing 9+ cards per turn? I personally play my own version of drilling rogue because it is more fun than lamplighter.

Latest VS report and also just personal experience:

Elemental Mage looks like the best elemental deck. It probably has the best win rate/dust ratio in the format. This should spark a surge in its popularity on the climb to legend this month, which we’re already seeing the beginning of. However, much like the other two elemental decks, its performance at higher levels of play is expected to decline and we’re not convinced it will have any relevant presence there.

Saying lamplighter rogue is a worse elemental deck than elemental mage (and possibly even shaman) doesn’t mean the others are good, just that lamplighter rogue actually sucks. It’s a marginally more interesting deck to play tho, so I’m sure top1000 legend players favor playing it over the other elemental decks.

That explains it xD

I think rogue elemental deck can be further refined, and will be, if lamp doesn’t get hit too hard, and I also think that Elemental shaman is stronger than both of those

Elemental decks are in essence the same as handbuff paladin decks, which is why both are tier 1. It has very few differences between them.

What are the similarities?

You play cards to buff your direct damage coming from hand.

Better question:

Why does every god damn deck have to have inevitability as a backup plan after playing aggro all game long?
