Too bad so many innocent cards were nerfed to oblivion because of it
There were no guilty cards let alone innocent ones.
It wasn’t a mistake either - The odd / even mechanic was great and allowed for some creative decks that posed their problems bu also had their strong points.
But they were overly popular - more so than the devs intended - and to allow for new fresh decks to come through it makes sense to move them on.
I love the odd decks (odd mech warrior and odd secret mage) but I also believe its time for something new.
They didn’t though, otherwise they would’ve deleted the cards, not rotate them early.
“But Wild is where they dump all their horrible mistakes” you might argue. If that was the case, they wouldn’t do Wild-focused nerfs (say, like the Aviana/Kun one).
I agree. I really dislike playing against rogue, but cold blood was not an issue at all except when baku was introduced.
Compare it to the 1 mana +3 attack spell for paladin and it really makes absolutely no sense to cost 2 mana AND require it to be combo. Completely unnecessary.
You can’t justify 1 mana equating to 1 more attack that’s hinged on a combo.
There was and still is absolutely nothing wrong with Equality being at two mana
Agreed. Yes, you can still get it to work at 4 mana, but 2 mana there was no issue.
and naga or patches less than a month before it rotated out
I’d also argue FTT was a Wild only nerf for Even Shaman as Even Shaman wasn’t crazy in Standard at all.
No they admit all you people did was whine about and not learn how to play against it. Its like if any decks beat any of you. The first thing I see is people whining how they got beat. I’ve played 7 odd pallys today and beat em all. So why does everyone complain about odd n even decks.
Just play the game!
Raza, not naga (screw 20 chars limit)
I think the Hunters Mark was kind of ridiculous but I’m probably the only one that thinks that…
Nah I think it was too.
It was 0 mana at one point then 1 now 2. I bet they’ll nerf it to 3 mana next lol. Heaven forbid you have a way to take out a giant minion cheap and efficiently. I mean cuz a turn 3 mountain giant is ok though haha.
I think blizz just wants to appease those that complain and say they are quitting HS.
No, not alone. Was only the combo with candleshot that made it good. Used to be zero mana.
Kind of like nerfing Druid ramp even though it was the insane armor and draw that made it OP.
RIP big Druid Archetype.
Ummm…
You do understand that your argument makes no sense because of Hunter’s Mark being nerfed, correct?
Genn/Baku were a mistake and they nerfed perfectly good cards because of Genn/Bakus existence.
The only affected deck I occasionally played was Odd Rogue. The nerf to cold blood didn’t make any sense. Naturalize didn’t make any sense because every class should have a decent single target removal.
Rather than send Genn/Baku to HoF earlier, they decided to nerf perfectly good cards that were vital to the classes.
That being said, this might be because of what is coming next. They might have intentions of bringing us better cards or new classic cards in the future or maybe they are trying to drop the power level a bit for the targeted classes.
There really isn’t any knowing…is that a sensible argument for you?
In regard to Hunter’s Mark, I mostly play Hunter so it is what I am most familiar with - I think they are trying to slow down most classes’ early game. My fear is they are setting the stage for a very control heavy metagame.
In which case, I’d rather have Genn/Baku. It is Year of the Dragon so I wonder what broken dragon synergy Priest is getting this time around…
Rogue - 2 mana 4 damage
Some unlocky guy can spend 2 cards and 4 mana to put Two 2hp minions on the board and get killed by a rogue who spends only 2 mana and no card.
Hunters Mark got nerfed because it was too good at 1 mana with things like Springpaw and Candleshot.
There’s a massive downside to equality, it nukes your own board as well don’t forget that.
Most of the nerfs post baku/genn can be reverted and make HS fine. If Team5 thinks nerfing the classic set every damn year is going to pan out just REMOVE THE EVERGREEN SET. They want to do half of the work instead of just doing it fully and making the game actually balanced. Wild is a format (supported or not) they cant keep nerfing classic set cards. The more they nerf the classic set for classes and or HOFing them they need to make stronger cards in expansions for that class which will still lead to inbalances.
Yes it does, but at 2 mana it works so well even a deck like the 4 mana Call to Arms Witchwood Even Paladin used it. And that deck won by being ahead on board and staying ahead through the early and mid game.
When a board clear is good enough for aggro that’s a sign it might be too good. And the main reason is you just don’t care that much if your 2-3 health minions go down to 1 health when you are bringing down giants, dragons, and taunts down on the other side of the board.
Thats more of a call to arms issue which is why it was nerfed. Equality may have felt bad when getting hit by it but it was a card that had risk vs reward uses and combo potential for a class with very poor draw.
