The class as a whole feels watered down and awful, especially Spell Mage.
Spell Mage while it has quite a heavy restriction to use spells only, gets no real additional benefit that’s worth it.
Yogg in a Box will most likely kill you than steer you to victory, mainly due to the 5+ Spell pool being full of mass draws and Wheel of Death.
Elemental Inspiration: Also an awful RNG card that feels terrible when you play it and no get a single elemental with Rush or Taunt to help you, this should have an added detail if you are playing a minion-less deck to allow you to discover a particular keyword to use.
Spot the Difference: 3 cost minions are mostly terrible, as well as the battlecries not actually applying when they are summoned through the spell, whats the point of this? either boost the minion cost to 4 or give us the battlecries.
Whoever is working on Mage within Team5, please respectfully move them onto another class or project, they clearly are out of their depth and have been for sometime.
Yep, Mage is destroyed.
50% win rate with Elemental Mage in d0nkey, a deck mage players don’t want to play.
46% Rainbow Mage.
45% Spell Mage.
and it only goes more downhill from there with another version of Spell Mage 43%, one 42% and 21% with the Whizbang deck. xD
Basically, there isn’t even 1 good Mage deck. Perhaps at most Elemental Mage can be considered Tier 4, and it has a 50% win rate because people are still experimenting. It’s the same situation as the start of the expansion. People are trying Elemental Mage until they realize it isn’t an actual archetype.
And of course, Rainbow is dead. Because Blizzard decided to nerf a Tier 4 deck.
Let the days pass and there won’t be a single Mage deck. Imagine the fact that people are playing Highlander Mage with no reward for it except Neutral Reno. xD
That’s how bad the class is.
They have finally proven what I have said for a long time.
They despise mage class, and have gone so far as to give every single playstyle it has ever had to other classes with even better versions.
They probably won’t give mage anything.
They have nothing but contempt for the class and it’s players, and anyone who cannot see that refuses to see.
Mallenroh before the nerf: rainbow mage bad because discover rng, I agree that it should be nerfed
Also Mall before the nerf: otk mage bad, nerf that too
Mall after: there they go nerfing mage again, proof blizzard hates mages even though the mage deck I claim to play is uneffected
I don’t believe Mall at all anymore when he acts like he cares about Mage. I think all Mall cares about is maintaining a victimhood narrative. I think he likes it when Mage gets nerfed because he gets to complain about it.
Not every card. But I can see why you might believe that.
I think Rewind is excellent, for instance.
I loved Wildfire, though it was never given any proper support.
I love Volume up.
I could go on and on.
I know you only absorb the negative things i say so it’s easy to assume that’s all there is.
I said I personally don’t like Discover RNG… I never called for nerfs to rainbow, and have no problem with those who enjoy the deck.
Please stop making things up.
Blizzard’s idea for mage is to win games either via RNG or hope to chip away and finish off the enemy with Sif. Unfortunately, if you want to kill your opponent with spells, you’re probably better off with shaman and their mana-cheating shenanigans. As for the roll the dice mage…does it really feel good to win a game when you know it was pure luck that won it for you? Seems to be rather lacking in satisfaction imo.
Wow. This is exactly what I have complained about now for years, and others have claimed that I was just being unreasonable and expecting too much.
Well played.
Well, gee. That is a really far cry from claiming that I wanted Rainbow mage (of all things, lol) nerfed.
I have said repeatedly that I don’t like RNG as a win condition, but that should not indicate that I care whether others play it or not.
I get really tired of defending myself to you, particularly when almost all of my complaints have been borne out with Team5 's actions.
It doesn’t help when you and others misstate and misrepresent the things I have said prior.
It honestly feels like you hate me, and just look for opportunities to attack me.
Do you know the main trait that separates me from you and others here? I mean you no harm.
Well, when you say something that sounds a lot like wanting cards removed once, and then say twice that you don’t, I believe what you said twice. But I definitely think you could have communicated better the first time. I’m absolutely not lying about you, sir; if I’m wrong it’s because I misunderstood you, and I do blame you for that. I’ve got someone liking that post, clearly I’m not the only person confused here. Not that it’s a huge deal or anything, miscommunication happens.
Well, then know that were RNG removed as a win condition that no one would cheer harder than me, as I see it merely as a device to avoid giving mage anything that might prove too popular, rather than accepting that mage is the most popular class when given anything reasonable, and designing for it accordingly.
Players have their own reasons for likes.
Possibly even that they dislike me, rather than strongly agree with what you claim.
I wouldn’t accept that as validation were I you.
So really, which is it? Are you glad that they nerfed Rainbow Mage, or is this proof that Blizzard hates Mage in a way that you don’t? Choose only one.
What is so revealing about that? I was referring to Quest mage, which I have always disliked. That is hardly revelatory.
As a prosecutor, you aren’t very effective.
And why are you derailing the thread to come after me?
You shouldn’t assume that anyone you’re talking to cares the slightest about Wild. Of course I assumed Standard and I will always assume Standard. If you’re talking about Open the Waygate, specify next time.
Well, you were wrong. Take a moment to absorb the feeling.
And this thread is about mage nerfs in general.
So my answer was not only on topic, it was also relevant to the post I responded to.
Now get on topic and give up your side gig as Lawyer.
You’re bad at the job.
Well, good to know that you feel that way.
Team 5 clearly felt differently, not once, but twice, where mage is concerned, as this is the second time they have nerfed a Wild deck for mage.
