So i’m not here to complain about quest priest being strong. It is, stats show that it is, we have to deal with that.
But the flat out ‘win the game’ spell that you are able to tutor, that i was CERTAIN would catch a big nerf very soon. Obviously that’s not happening.
What would you lot say? And before you give your very much respected opinions, please note that i’m very well aware very fast aggro or OTK decks run over this decklist. I’m more interested about what the opinions are if you play a deck that tries to do something long-game itself.
I’m already kinda suspicious that the much needed druid nerfs haven’t really hit yet and you can add this class/deck to the list. Druid and Priest have balancing immunity this expac, it seems like. Warlock is a strong 3rd contender and i’ve mained it for years i have to admit they’re quite OP too.
To me it just feels like it’s an instaloss if i dont bring out heavy disruption and that tilts me a bit. There’s plenty tech cards to bring my heavy decks down already, adding a full decklist that’s literally 100% unwinnable to that equation makes me wonder why bother.(Unless you can combo before 10 best believe their win button is ready) So quest priest and that denath druid are mostly unwinnable for any lategame deck. Aggro can just truck you over on a coinflip. Why would combo or control even bother in the meta? (This is my honest opinion, don’t shoot me, rather give feedback down below)
PS: i play damage-based combo decks, not disruption combo decks. Adding this before someone says ‘combo does fine in this meta’ – it does when it’s disruption based or has a stacked Denathrius, that’s it really.

It’s Tier 3 (50,25% win rate Bronze-Gold) and Tier 2ish in Legend, mostly cause it snacks on Aggro Druid and eats Miracle Rogues, who are strong there, for breakfast, lunch and supper.
So no, it isn’t “strong” but “average”, even if your personal record looks otherwise.

And I’m here to complain that quest priest is indeed strong and there’s a high chance that not nerfing it alongside druid and mage will make it top tier, and nobody wants that. It’s crazy to me that no one is including it in their wishlists.
Renathal made quest priest simply too good. Quest decks don’t suffer too much from the lack of consistency of other 40-cards decks due to them starting in the opening hand, and 40hp + a ton of healing and armor, all recasted by the hero card, can make it nearly impossible for a lot of decks to beat it, specially those with finite damage like burn shaman (that are nearly extinct).
I would like to see the healing toned down a bit, either through Gift of the Naaru to 2-mana or Lightshower Elemental to restore 6 health (or both). Also the 1-mana mass dispel is a card that can single handedly destroy buff decks like paladin or murlocs, so I’d like to see Shard of the Naaru nerfed to 2-mana as well.
Last time I checked, Renathal was still in the game. Since it enabled greedier degenerate strategies, you should be able to sacrifice one of your oh-so-precious card slots to make room for Steamcleaner, which should solve all your problems.
Before you call me names, though, yes, I do play Steamcleaner in the majority of my decks. I can show you which decks I climbed to legend with, as well as which ones I used in top 1000 grind.
Finally, Theotar is still in the game and is incredibly busted. Use it. Unless you are playing mind-numbingly low-curved, hyper aggro decks, you should be able to accommodate to Theotar somewhere in there.
I rate this topic: skill issue/69. Not nice.

If quest priest is too powerful even though there are specific instructions to pass it. I would say change the purified shard to a 9-mana and it say: “Deal 30 damage to the enemy hero”
this way only renethal will keep you alive after you play this.
I don’t really understand why they’d change a thing that’s not a problem.

There’s nothing wrong with quest priest.
40 card makes completion slower and more inconsistent, and Brann Theotar and Mutanus make it so you can’t even guarantee completion. Even after you play quest reward, unless you have Finley, Thrive, or Spirit Guide, typically you have like 15-20 cards left in the deck and you play the waiting/survival game hoping and praying to draw the shard.

Yes we are just gonna leave quest priest like this because it has never been a problem.

If you’re specifically talking about the quest/reward, it doesn’t need a balance. Like all other direct quest rewards, the minions, for each class, they can be countered by the Leggo minion. However, it’s a 10 mana spell, so unless they have the 5 mana taunt minion draw a holy+shadow spell on board, they can’t tutor it out of their deck AND use it the same turn, which means if they do tutor it out without the mana to use it immediately, it’s open to Theotar steal. It’s also a spell, which there are multiple ways to counter. The most important part, however, it has no immediate impact because it goes into the friggin’ deck.
I’d also argue the path to reaching quest completion isn’t incredibly easy in comparison to the majority of the questlines available.
that is the Spirit Guide my friend.
best way to fix this quest problem is to remove the holy school from the purified shard
The purified shard is probably the most perfect example of a holy spell. To remove the tag would seem kinda silly.

ok. what about changing thje text to “Deal 30 damage to the enemy hero.” that way those with renethal will still survive. unless if the one who cast that has enough minions to make up for the 10 missing damage.
If thatr not work why not: reduce the enemy hero’s health by 1/2 for the rest of the game.
I don’t think the quest reward needs a nerf at all. Quest priest is not a T1 deck nor does it feel broken. It’s a proper long game farming deck with plenty of ways to play around it.
The purified shard is used for healing purposes, so how is dealing 30 damage healing something?
it says: destroy the enemy hero. no healing there.
It’s like hitting a vampire with holy water. You are technically hitting them with a restorative potion, but they are being destroyed because their very essence is corrupt.
THE WHOLE POINT of this quest is to kill the opponent with the reward. why would they change it? the quest is very hard and take long to finish then you have to draw said spell and cant play it this turn. they can steal; it with theotar and kill you with your own quest. quest priest is FAR from being a problematic deck

who said holy spells have to be healing? ever heard of things like holy fire?
Quest Priest isn’t and has never been a problem. The only reason it’s relevant now is Renethal, which I personally think is a bad card for the game, but that’s a discussion for a different thread.
this whole post can be summed up here. op is looking for others to commiserate with them that fatigue decks are no longer allowed.
