Signature cards: what is the point?

Not sure what the correct term is for this, but the cards that are “signature” (i.e. completely grey, devoid of colour) seem like a major step down from golden cards in terms of artistic appeal, yet appear to be a tier above them.

Has anyone else noticed this? I mean, I would take golden cards over diamond cards any day of the week.

Is this how much we can rely on blizzard’s judgment to make decisions about what is more enjoyable in this game? If so, it may explain recent metas, including this one.

More card variety amounts to more profit ultimately. My understanding is that the style of signature cards will change to reflect each expansion so they will be different. The current ones are terrible.

It used to be just Gold cards for people who wanted to really go all in. Then came diamond. Now we have gold, diamond and sig cards. It’s all about Blizz making more money through diverse skins.

I like them, they are like undead cards, no life to them

They have said that future signature cards won’t be the grayscale that we have now, which was meant to be thematic to the expansion.

I’m more annoyed that they strictly lower the dust value of packs.

Oops, you would have disenchanted that, but it’s signature, so congrats on your extra ultra rare copy that you can’t get rid of!

To help clarify, from Hearthstone Wiki:

“In card packs, signature cards only replace regular common cards, which means they do not take the place of a potential golden card. This also effectively increases the rate of legendary cards in card packs compared to before their addition.”

Aye, but they are still basically a golden legend that you are stuck with. If it gets nerfed you get nothing. There was no need to make them uncraftable.

They may have been worried about the large amount of dust disenchanting these cards would reward, alas.

They were created to convince people to buy more packs. If they had dust value / were craftable then they wouldn’t make Blizzard as much money.

If they were better animated than a Diamond card i might actually start caring about them. I honestly like Diamond cards because of the full animation they have. No animation at all has to be the stupidest marketing ploy i have ever seen from them for HS.

by 5…each signature card

i have no idea how you guys are getting so many signature cards i never pulled one on 100 packs i opened this expansion

That is because you have blinders to reality on.

They cost dust, regardless of whether it is 5 or 500.

That, mam, is a dust loss.

No one asked for them, yet here we are.

Just like no one asked for heroic brawl and you are too thick, intentionally, to see why the majority of people are against it.\

You are a troll, and a bad one.

If 5 dust is nothing to you, thats fine. Gift me 2 packs. Its only 100 dust on average. Thats not huge.

So put you money where your mouth is and start gifting randoms packs, or close you pie hole and accept the fact its a dust loss, THAT NO ONE ASKED FOR!

This is how blizzard gets away with stuff: by the blizzard defenders enabling them. They take away your dust, and the community will try to gaslight you into thinking you’re the problem for caring about losing dust.

but if you have the normal card in your collection already, you get to reroll that normal card into a new one, netting you a new extra card.

tbh I really dont get this argument, the odds I believe are the same for golden legendaries so that would make it 1/181 packs. So the actual dust lost is 5/181 which is… .03 dust per pack…

So for every 33 packs opened, you lose 1 dust…

Find me and I will give you 5 cent to make up for your lost dust for the next year

To slap your opponent with the ugliest Alexandros Mograine possible.

So you rather have 5 dust than a random legendary you can’t dust ?

Just trying to understand you.

Did got 2 signature on packs and considering that they actually increased the odds of legendary cards i consider this a Win for the community.

In fact any player remotely responsable with their collection is having the easiest time in years right now expanding it.

It’s kinda of a jerk move to not let people dust those cards but a win is a win.
Be it winning a little more or a little less.

They saw that people whaled for goldens so they added a new tier of card to collect for people to whale on. All of those that needed to have full collections of everything now need to collect a whole other tier of card besides just normal and golden. Just wait when the suit need to add more yachts, lambo’s and mansion to their portfolio they will add a 4th tier of card beyond gold and signature to milk more money out.
