I’m so sick of these stupid minions that can completely undermine a lot of effort. You build up a 500/500, only to have one of these stupid tavern bought minions make all that work in vain. Whats the point of Demons if there are so many things that can easily take out big guys. To me, these are “catch up” minions for those that could not possible compete without. But, that’s stupid. If someone worked to get a super lineup, then they deserve to win… not be ripped off by these cheesy minions. It’s bad enough the format is a total luck fest. We do not need another aspect of luck with these stupid minions. So sick of having a huge lineup of minions decimated by weenies that can kill.
If they kill you, they aren’t catch up, they are better than you.
You are being punished for playing a one dimensional build. It’s as simple as that.
Interesting that you can assume what I use every game? So, if I have a huge taunt/mech with divine shield and that guys that kills anything that kills it takes it out… thats me using a 1 dimensional build? When I build up some demons to 1000/1000 and they are taken out by one of these… it’s because im using a 1 dimensional build? So, using combos that builds big minions is 1 dimensional? But, say using all murlocs that get venom over and over isn’t? Interesting.
If you build ONE demon to 1K/!k and are not playing Cultists that’s your problem. Putting all your eggs on one big minion is a very bad build because it’s easier to counter. If you are playing a big minion build in a lobby with Murlocs you are just asking to get scammed.
BG’s is more than just “hey look what i just built over 10 turns”. It’s about being flexible and keeping track of what your opponents are doing and adapting your builds to what your opponents are doing.
If you don’t want to play and adapt and pay attention then your rating will reflect that. You either accept your limitations and stay at the rank you are or you get better and your rank goes up.
Cannot stress that enough.
I’m only 4k MMR but I’m already seeing galaxy-brain plays from my opponents. Whole game I never once saw a single divine shield minion get played by anyone of consequence. Comes down to me vs one other guy, his previous matchup vs me showed no DS minions. I think to myself “I’ll just pick the double-my-left-minion’s damage option, I’m good” and what do I see when the fight starts? NOTHING but divine shield minions. With venomous.
I could have popped the shields via the “1 damage to 5 minions” thing and eked out a win. But instead, insta-lose. From a big-brain fakeout. That guy deserved his dubs. GG whoever that was an hour ago.
But fellas, have you considered that number go up mean minion more gooder?
Im just tired of the lobbies where I am making the best available choices given to me and by turn 7 Im eliminated entirely because I cant make a full board of 30/30s…
interesting replies, especially from people with such low mmr. I typically play around 7-8k range, mostly because I concede regularly. Thats probably the biggest problem. I dont play for ratings… I play for fun. Those guys are not fun. They are cheesy ways to win. So many people assuming I’m putting all my eggs into 1 basket. I’m more talking about when almost all of your minions are huge, but these guys are able to make all your work in vain. Recurring murloc venom is the worst. Nonstop weenies with venom that take out 1000/1000 minions. But, the other guys are just lame. It’s stupid to be able to buy a tavern bought minion that can take out a 1000/1000 with divine shield.
I dont play for ratings… I play for fun.
And yet it sounds like you’re using MMR ratings to disregard / downplay the opinions of others:
interesting replies, especially from people with such low mmr.
And then you brag about how you’re not playing to your “true potential” because you just give up a lot:
I typically play around 7-8k range, mostly because I concede regularly.
I’m not trying to prevaricate, I’m just trying to understand the kind of person I’m conversing with. Do you care about MMR, or do you not? Because if you do, then what you say does not correlate with what you mean, and I will have to adjust my future responses accordingly.
Now, with regards your actual complaint:
I’m more talking about when almost all of your minions are huge, but these guys are able to make all your work in vain.
Whether you have “one giant basket” or “seven giant baskets” is irrelevant; you’re still relying on giant basket(s) and are upset when one eenie weenie pops the balloon(s). And you are having this problem, because you assign too much value on stats, and not enough on abilities.
You’re not stuck in “MMR hell” because you concede. You’re stuck there because you ignore 75% of the game in favor of, as Scrotie so eloquently put it:
number go up mean minion more gooder
It’s no different from throws in fighters or spawn-camping in FPS. The game that is, and the game YOU want, are two different games. It’s not the game’s fault other people use the strategies the game gives them, to counter your preferred method of “honorable stat buffing.”
I typically play around 7-8k range, mostly because I concede regularly.
Which server?
You know this is easily verified, right?
You talk about the game like you can’t break 5k.
I’m saying the minions are ridiculous and think the only reason they are in the game is for a “catch up” mechanic. Whether I play for fun or ratings doesn’t matter. They undermine hard work… period. If you like winning with these cheesy minions, I get it. Some people don’t care about anything but winning, even though there is absolutely no reward for.
Of course I’m going to feel that somebody that cannot grow above 4k MMR doesn’t understand. Come on.
I just give my MMR so people know that I’m not some struggling 4k mmr player. I have over 4600 hours playing the format.
You seem to miss my point. So let me ask you this… Do you think the game would work without them? If not? Why not? I think they are cheesy and the game would be much better without them. Tell me why I’m wrong. And if you say that they are needed to take out big guys that could not be taken out otherwise, then you admit they are just cheesy ways to undermine another players hard work. They add and remove minions all the time, so saying I want a completely different game is ridiculous.
They are cheesy ways to win. So many people assuming I’m putting all my eggs into 1 basket. I’m more talking about when almost all of your minions are huge, but these guys are able to make all your work in vain. Recurring murloc venom is the worst.
I still don’t get what’s the game design problem. That’s how murlocs are not bad. They sometimes poison while their stats are not big.
While I hate scam builds as the next person it is technically a necessary aspect of BGs. There is a element of skill that goes into each game and counterplay really makes a difference as to whether you come out on top or not.
Nothing is scammy about them. Sometimes you get some poisonous murlocs; their health is often very low; they get a chance. You often don’t even have the time to develop more than 3 or 4 poisonings in the entire match so I still don’t see what’s the game design problem here.
Of course I’m going to feel that somebody that cannot grow above 4k MMR doesn’t understand.
So, you are dishonest. Duly noted, in which case I’ll make this simple:
Do you think the game would work without them? If not? Why not?
I think that’s an irrelevant question because, as you are dishonest, no matter what I say I cannot trust you at your word.
You are triggered when you lose to anything that isn’t a bigger stat stick. That’s an ish-you, not an ish-anyone-else.
This reminds of some egotists if constructed. “How dare you have the audacity to even respond, do you know I’m top 100 in Legend?”.
kage? more like rage
So if i get some golden Murk-eyes and place them next to some golden Gem Smugglers. Does that mean i didn’t work as hard as you did because i watched my board grow out of control and i didn’t even have to play? I just sat and watched the win roll in?
There HAS TO BE counter play to big minions in BG’s or the mode just becomes a stale race to see who can make the biggest minion/minions the fastest.
