Sick of everyone and their cousins running viper

Wanna play some old fashioned doomhammer ele shaman? Think again, even my grandmother teched in a viper. The most ridiculous thing being that it’s not even an effective counter to poison rogue, and paladins do not exist. Hot take: That thing needs a nerf. Why the hell does it have to come with premium stats on top of being tradeable? If a card is in the vast majority of decks, isn’t that supposed to be an indicator that it is too good?

Viper is in a whopping 27.3% of decks being played in diamond. It’s surely not the best time to try and use weapons. If only there were a counter to the counter to the counter to the counter.

Now check that stat for top 1k legend. I can guarantee you every ape is running at least 1 viper, some are even running 2. Just to get otk’d by rogue spells regardless.

We can’t blame anyone for wanting to win.
We can blame T5 for allowing the game to be in the state it’s in.

Smart players will tech in viper to counter poison rogue, since it’s so predominant and arguably stronger than thief rogue.

I dont have a problem that tech optins are strong i am actually for it,becuz there some matcups that is not even useable so makin tech options tradeable was a great move and i actually hope they continue this why do you feel tech options need to be low in stats just curious?

It might not be a total counter but it slows down weapon rogue slightly to allow you to try and win.

At least the viper for a moment allows you to feel like you had a chance against Poison Rogue. It would also be pretty dumb for someone to just let their opponent smack them in the face with a 4-8 damage weapon multiple times, when there’s a relatively flexible and cost effective answer to it.

That sort of thinking is what has led this game down the rabbit hole of Power creep.

Holy cow. At top legend it’s in 39% of decks.

I tottally disagree. Viper is a good thing for the meta and thanks god they made it as a tradeable card. Tech cards are great and honestly I think that they should do even more of them.

Weapons are mostly “uncounterable” if we didn’t have cards like this, and I don’t believe that any deck should have this privilege.

It does has good stats and for me would be fine if they nerf to 3/3. I never played this card for the stats anyway.

Weapons are and have always been countered by taunts. Now, not every class is running taunt walls, but if every class is running viper, weapon decks become obsolete

Thing is Poison Rogue doesn’t necessarily need to actually lower their opponent’s health via attacking. Poison Rogue can win using its Garrotes and other burn.

Exactly, which is why it seems so ridiculous to me that almost half of all decks in my bracket have at least one viper in them.

It doesnt have premium stats, it is 3/4 for 3, which is fair. It is useless card against almost anything but very few archetypes, which have weapon as wincon.

It is in majority of the decks, because weapons are strong. Few weeks ago you would not see viper in any deck pretty much.

Viper it’s great against poison rogue too, because it slows down the “draw engine”.
The fact that rogue can draw really fast makes viper look not very useful, but it’s still better than doing nothing

And how many turns does a Shaman need to have a Doomhammer equipped for it to have served it’s purpose? I get what your saying, but I think Doomhammer is a really bad card to choose as an example.

If poison rogue is nerfed and played less, most people will get rid of viper, because they will not have use for it regularly. It spikes, when there are broken weapons, if there are not, it dies out. It was in many decks, when warlock played weapon few months/weeks back, dropped to 0 completely and now is back due to poison rogue.

You dont have many ways how to slow rogue down or stop him, viper is one of them.

I dont agree that the decks becomes obsolete. You have to play around the viper, as any other deck should play around counters in general.

If the weapon is the only threat on your deck then maybe this should be your concern

Not surprising, in top legend nearly 50% of decks are Rogue.

It’s really because of Rogue. Even though it’s not a counter…it’s all you really have.

On average, 3 turns. If lucky, 2 turns.
