I tried to make a meme deck focused around commanding shout frothing beserker into crazy amounts of attacks but when I tried to bladestorm it with commanding shout the effect ended when it hit 1hp, it was the only minion on board. The card clearly states repeat until a minion dies, so what is going on here? Is this intended or is it a bug? Just seems like an inconsistency in the card text.
I think it’s a hard cap on bladestorm’s effect written in specifically so it can’t go infinite
Frothing Berserker wouldn’t gain any more attack even if Bladestorm kept going, because it wouldn’t be taking damage anymore.
You don’t want infinite loops in video games. This is the kind of interaction that would literally break the game if there were no hard cap coded into bladestorm. Your neverending bladestorm would go on until one of you closed the client to exit the game. You’d just sit there watching the animation all day and never be able to attack with the minion. The fact that they prevented this shows proper foresight on their part.
that and, unless they changed it, a 1hp minion under commanding shout effet doesn’t actually take damage from the game’s perspective, as if it was immune.
So what is this theoretical cap? What happens if it hits a minion with say 100 hp, does it just stop after a certain point?
I don’t know the actual cap, or if it’d written I’m with an if clause to stop in the case of Commanding Shout specifically.

Fyi, the hard cap on bladestorm is 30 repeats of the effect.
I just tested this out a few different ways. Basically, it will go until it kills something OR until it stops being able to deal damage.
So for example, with just an Armorsmith on board, at full life, it will ‘storm’ 4 times. First time takes it to 3 life, 2nd to 2 life, 3rd tick to 1 life, and then a 4th tick. The 4th tick doesn’t hurt anything, so it stops.
Example two: Armorsmith, Twin Tyrant with armor lackey buff (so it was at 4/12), and 2/3 Questing Adventurer on board. Casting commanding shout I got 12 ticks. So, it didn’t stop when the first minion hits 1, but rather, when it stops doing damage. Also of note, I got 16 armor from that play, 11 from the Tyrant, 2 from the Questing, and 3 from the Amorsmith. They stop giving armor when they hit 1hp and stop taking damage.
