I’ve been playing Corrupt the waters for a few days and it’s really, really fun. If I don’t get a lacky generator early, it hurts. Though it’s still survivable. I;ve got a decent win rate, about 75-80%. Here’s the list and a description. Help me out.
The mandatory core
1x Corrupt the Waters
2x Sludge Slurper
2x Evil Cable Rat
2x Evil totem
2x Questing Explorer
2x Bog Slosher
2x Weaponized Wasp
2x Lifedrinker
1x Barista Lynchen
Strong stuff that isn’t 100% needed but still good 2x Sandstorm Elemental: Needed for aggro control.
2x Mogu Fleshshaper: Big draw against aggro, so-so against the rest. He plays well with Withcy Lackey. I see some people saying to use mutate for him, but I don’t like it since it requires drawing the right combo at the right time. Mutate isn’t all that great with most of the rest of the deck, especially if drawn early against control.
1x Swampqueen Hagatha: a huge draw in the late game. I usually find myself dropping her turn 7 so I can double cry the horror turn 8. I’ve never drawn her after that, but I imagine getting her turn 9 is almost a guaranteed win. I only own one and need to put in more thought before I use dust for another one. Maybe in place of a fountain?
Others 2x Novice Engineer: I’m on the fence. I like him for late game and he helps with the quest, but 2 mana for a 1/1 sucks against aggro.
2x Mind Control Tech: Sometimes really strong, sometimes a dead draw.
2x Walking Fountain: i love this guy enough that I’ve put in two. Late game with the control deck has blown their load with board clear he can be a beast. It’s also a good stabilizer against aggro (assuming I survive that long). I’m not sure if 2 is too many since he’s a bad draw early on.
With this win rate you should not change anything. Hsreplay shows around 51% for quest shaman
I’m very low rank right now. Honestly, I’ve never played ranked before other than the 5 wins you need for a chest each season. This deck is the first one that’s fun enough to want to play repeatedly. After a decade of Magic the Gathering tournaments I don’t have the intestinal fortitude required to keep up with an ever changing metagame and craft new cards to compete. Not a fan of paying money, either, so I’ll never make it to the big leagues.
I’ve seen a bunch of interesting variations at the higher ranks, such as Nomi followed by Shudder (Warr counter I guess), putting a bunch of cards to Mutate like Former Champ, Fleshshaper and Giggling Inventor or even a guy playing a very ‘‘rainbow’’ version of the deck which had for goal to play Zephrys pretty much any number of times.
Personally I really like Vulpera Scoundrel. Always giving me that clutch AOE or removal I need.
Not really, the person stated it wasn’t in a competitive environment, and has pretty much no ranking experience. The sample size wasn’t mentioned either, so it’s most likely not 80%wr out of 300 games.
Odds are it found some relative success with a deck played in casual and it wants some insights / ideas . No need to hound lol.
I like Vulpera. I disenchanted every wild card i have to make this deck and I’m down to about 1800 dust so I don’t want to spend the 400. At least not until I’m sure that I shouldn’t get a 1600 dust guy instead.
It’s not even 300 games. Closer to 20 or 25 (18 wins). And several of those the opponent has made some really bad choices. A few times (at least) they’ve opted to swing at me instead of the evil lackey, not understanding how powerful he is until it was too late.
I know for a fact that that as I get higher in the ranks decks are going to be stronger and players smarter.
Is there a way to see how many matches I’ve played so I know for sure how many of those were losses?
If you really enjoy the deck and have had good success with it in casual my only advice would be to go ahead and take it to ranked.
I’m playing ranked now for the first time ever and really liking it. I still play casual, but that’s when I dust off Whizbang and Zayla or toss together a crap deck to get a quick “play X” quest completed.
Hearthstone Deck Tracker, my friend. All your data will be at your disposal. From cards left in your deck, which turn your opponent drew the cards sitting it it’s hand, to each of your deck’s statistics and match-ups.
(Is this advertising? I’m assuming it’s not since it’s a legit answer)
The battle cry deck is pretty solid and fun to play, interestingly enough the strongest deck out right now doesn’t run barista or swamp queen (also I’m assuming you are new to the game, as u cannot use more than 1 legendary card). So this seems to indicate that this deck finds a lot of success with more early mid game tempo. I think shudder wock is a very important card that can be a powerful late game presence and can allow decks not running swampqueen. I think barista is a solid inclusion, but it’s certainly not necessary with how much value the deck can generate. There are 2 decks sitting at 55 and 57% wr’s that I think are the best in class, and happen to be fairly cheap.
Where has he stated it wasn’t in a competitive environment? Also he said over the last few days, at 80% win rate it would take him 30 games to reach Legend from rank 5
Vulpera Scoundrels are major in this deck. With the quest completed, it’s a great card to refill your hand. You can even discover things like Bloodlust and Storm Bringer for buffing a board full of lackeys, or finding direct damage spells as a finisher.
There’s also a big argument for Ironbeak Owl tech. Silence allows you to slip past taunts for lethal or shut down annoying deathrattles/northshires. If nothing else, it’s a battlecry.
I also have a soft spot for Witch’s Apprentice. It’s a cheap way to accelerate quest completion while not thinning out your hand. It’s also extremely valuable in the late game after quest completion. 3 mana for 2 Shammy spells and an annoying taunt on the board is juicy.
I’m trying to figure out deck tracker so I can see stats exactly. It’s quite possible I’m misremembering the losses and overstating the win count in my mind. My icon in the phone’s quest screen is Sorcerer’s Apprentice with 18 wins.
And yes, it’s in competitive. Just not terribly competitive because I’m still very low level. Like I said, some of those wins are because of really bad choices on the opponent’s part.

What would you swap out? Engineers?

The number that comes with the picture represents your Rank, not the amount of wins.
There are some very good guides for that on YouTube!
I personally dislike the Fountains in Quest Shaman, as they hinder my ability to focus on completing the quest and gaining fast value out of it. I often find the Lifedrinkers alongside the deck’s innate ability to burst damage is enough to heal / close out games.
I assumed they were the same, because both are 18.
Yeah, I definitely need to watch a video or two. It shows two Corrupt the Waters decks. The one that has stats is one I’ve never played. It even includes cards are don’t own. The other one is mine and says it doesn’t have enough info.

Looks like I’ll be giving some dust to the card gods. I’ll try the toad in place of engineers and scoundrels for fountains.
What about the risk of randomness with lackey cries? Hitting myself in the face or buffing their minions seems risky. I haven’t tried it, though. And could very well be wrong. I find that I fequently am.
Lackeys that buff will only affect friendly minions. The risk of backfire is irrelevant, as you play Shudder for it’s gigantic reload payoff, and most battlecries won’t have any chance of affecting you negatively.
