Shudderwock - Once Per Game
Quest - Your FIRST Battlecry each turn triggers twice
BOOM. Shaman is now the pinnacle of what every class needs to strive to be and can lead by example. The class has an insane range of viable decks while all having their strengths and weaknesses none feel so oppressive that no matter what you do you’ll never win vs it none of them lock you out of ever being able to end the game.
The quest and shudderwock are the only two cards this class has that breaks this mold and the fixes to them are so insanely easy it’s mind blowing it hasn’t been done yet. This isn’t to say the decks are unbeatable anything can happen in this rng infested game but they’re so blatantly unfun and seemingly unfair that they stop Shaman from being the golden child of Hearthstone.
Totem Shaman and Murloc Shaman are both crazy strong/good aggro decks both can compete vs top tier decks and have a chance and both lose vs heavy control decks (As aggro decks typically should)
Big shaman (or whatever the official name is) is a really good highroll deck but struggles vs other shamans, priest, warriors, warlocks that burn out all the minions etc it’s also fairly slow for wild so aggro decks can beat it down.
Reno shaman perfect mix of everything like all reno decks in wild
Asteroid shaman a somewhat otk deck that gets shut down by a simple Geist or Steam Cleaner or by bad RNG on the draws or just the opponent (usually a warrior/DK) having too much hp/armor
All these decks are good and all have their weak points. Most classes can deal with all of these decks in some way until we bring Shudderwock or the quest into the picture.
Both of which feel entirely too oppressive for how easy it is to get them started. You may ask how is this any different than the oppressive decks currently in wild? That’s the point.
Wild isn’t supposed to be the pinnacle of balance I get that, but standard clearly isn’t either and Wild has a FAR better chance at being balanced than Standard does right now …or in the past like 3 years to be honest. 2 simple and easy nerfs that don’t gut the decks and you have a class in the most chaotic mode actually feel fair. That could easily pave the way to better balancing be it in wild or standard
