It’s actually disgusting and embarassing how this card got through onto live servers.
3 mana(!!!), destroy any minion, summon voidfiends equal to targets health.
I’ve acknowledged Hearthstone being mostly a RNG-based game, but this card is straight up ridiculous even though it doesnt have any RNG involvements.
If you want to talk about RNG, better look at Paladin’s treasures… 4 Mana make your hero power summon a 3/3 and add a 1 mana 3/3 to your hand or, the even cooler RNG one, 3 Mana make all your minions 3 mana 3/3. It’s always fun seeing them use Onyxia turn 4 for a board full of 3/3 drags that refresh if you don’t kill Onyxia. Or, even cooler when they get old Alexstrasza to make you 15 Health. Heck, once I got OTK-ed by one Pala using old Alex and 2 new Alex. I’m not even gonna mention the stupid weapon and how many times the legendaries lose your game or auto-win.
Paladin gets their treasure early in hand? Good luck surviving the onslaught. Playing Paladin and not having treasure early? Well, good luck surviving until you get that treasure, you either have rlly high cost cards in hand or a bunch of summon 1/1s.
Other classes have their annoying RNG treasures too, but Pala feels like the worst offender to me. The Void card at most demands you one immediate board clear vs 0/2s or 0/3s and then the cards is basically gone. And that happens only if you played a big threat and have no board, rush minions or damaging hero powers.
Serious question Duels players, is it worth giving this format a try? I’ve never played it , but just found out i have a bunch of Arena tickets.
What are the pros and cons vs Arena?
I’m pretty crappy at Arena 3-5 wins is normal, am I likely to achieve that as a new Duels player?
Doesn’t seem to be much info on Duels, so ima bit hesitant just to jump in.
I’ll be 100% honest here, I doubt you would want to spend the tickets on duels rn. Some classes seem rlly op to me from the start, some demand rlly good rng rolls from buckets, treasure etc and some are rlly match-up dependent. Plus the first 15 cards are essential, so you should only pick classes with strong personal collection over random hero with no cards to support your play style.
Because of the amount of flexibility in decks and treasures, duels will seem a lot more random and unpredictable than arena and demand quite a lot more games to get a general grasp of what every deck can do and what turnarounds can exist at every moment. So even if they are theoretically balanced, they still are demanding lots of game experience.
If you want to maximise your winnings from your tickets in a consistent way, arena is your best budy. If you don’t care about the possible extreme RNG and have a bit more time to play duels for fun, I would recommend dueling for free a few times then go for the tickets if you feel comfortable and enjoy it.
i havent played duels since rotation so im not aware of the current meta.
But i can comment on it as a format. Had you played the cobolds and catacombs adventure? Imagie this way of playing in multiplayer. Just like cobold and catacombs you add cards in your deck after each game. You also get unique effects(double battlecries or spells etc) and treusures just like that adventure.
The one big advantage this format has over arena, imo, is flavor. Like, duels realy nail the flavor for all classes. Like, mage has impresive spell synergies, shaman can utilize overload effects etc.
The biggest disadvantage compared to arena is that because the powerlevel of the decks is extreme, many games become completely uninteractive, because the power plays some decks can pull make it imposible to fight back. Sometimes it feels unsustifing even from the winers perspective.
Arena is still my favorite format in the game, but i also enjoy duels a lot.
we can’t really tell you however how well YOU are gonna perform, it’s up to you. It will definitely take you a few runs to get the grasp of it however. When i started i had dificulty pulling a single win in a run, but after a few runs i got ten plus wins over and over again.
Only heroic version requires payment. You can play the normal version of duels for free, so I’d suggest you just hop in for a few games.
If you like deviating from normal gameplay, you’ll probably like duels more.
When you want to be an achievement hunter, you’re “forced” to play every mode and complete every expansion set. That’s something which comes with the territory of that playstyle. Not just for hearthstone, but every game.
To be fair duels achievements will be the last ones I complete when I have nothing else to do.
Mainly going to complete 12 wins on every class and maybe try to go for one 12-0, won’t bother going for 12-0 on each class that’s just insanity.
