Seriously, why does Hunter get a Legendary in Mini Set?

Hunter, at the top of the meta, gets an orange in the mini set.
Others get two blues, one white.

My dear Warrior, sitting at the bottom of meta, gets 2 white, 1 useless blue…

Because its hunter which the current Dev teams loves. It has to have the best cards to be the best board based deck in order to compete with late game decks while also being strong against aggro and midrange. I mean you can just look at all the good class legendaries it has that go in its best big beast hunter deck.(Aralon, Rat King, Kodobane, Krush, Hydralodon, Huntsman, Wing commander). VS even calls it the “broken beast hunter deck”

The miniset was probably produced over a year ago. I’m not sure how far ahead the team does evaluations, but I’m not sure they’d be able to determine what a future meta will be like.

Interesting…
Two or three of these cards “would never see play” according to the experts. Haha look how wrong they were.

I prefer to call it wallet hunter due to the cost of all the cards, but it is a broken thing in this meta.

The mini set was in production long before wallet hunter took over the meta.

so they can do nothing now? just let Hunter rule?

The devs are notoriously and hilariously bad at predicting the meta.

It’s not like they are suddenly going to become good at it.

They also seemingly need at least a week after they decide on changes to implement them to translate patch notes.

Also it appears they work on several sets at once and don’t decide which to release until closer to launch.

Hunter wasn’t doing anything particularly special until after the last balance patch and it took players a long time to adopt it.

I’m personally more annoyed that they seem to think these recruit cards are good

They design these sets far before anyone is playing them, which is why they often don’t really take current meta strength into account much.

if this stuff was made a year ago which I am not sure about this stuff shouldn’t be set in stone, they should be able to change the game in a heartbeat ! its a digital card game they don’t need to stick to designs because of ordering print or whatever

You guys should watch this video if you really think they make these expansions a year in advance.

None of these devs know what they’re doing - Community Discussion - Hearthstone Forums (blizzard.com)

It’s because every other class got their legendary in a mini set excluding dh and hunter so it was their turn to get one.

Hunter legendary is not even that super wtrong so why all.the crying

The devs love hunter so much this is the first time hunter gets a legendary from a miniset.

Legendaries are not the be all end all. A good common or rare could be better especially since you can put 2 of them into a deck instead of one.

Also other than Paladin which has 12 total Legendaries and Mage with 14 all the other classes have 13 Legendaries in Standard. Hunter was in line getting a Legendary to even the totals up. If anything Mage is favored by the Devs for having an extra Legendary over everyone and Paladins are being crapped on.

Technically, three classes hadn’t received a Legendary in a mini-set prior to this one: DH, Hunter and Paladin.

So, your comment is mostly correct.

However, if you consider which class the OP of this thread seems most attached to (i.e. Paladin) based on their post history, then you can probably see why they chose to complain, even if this wasn’t really a great target for that complaint.

DH, Hunter and Paladin had not had a turn at a mini-set legendary before this mini-set.

Two of them got their turn this time around.

But the OP is a fan of the third option among those classes.

The Hunter Legendary is not that good.

have you ever tried “getting gewd”

you didnt even bother explaining why do you think the new legendary is good or why hunter needst o run it at all

Somewhere on the forum (probably youtube) is a video of a twitter AMA the dev team did where they flat out admitted that things like you described happen all time the example asked about was do they plan what goes into the core set based off the new sets that will enter standard while the core set is active. the answer was no… so the core set that is supposed to support standard is a guess at best. My guess would be they dont evaluate anything very well

Which leads to the conclusion that Paladin will get his overdue Legendary in the next Miniset, to be released Febr. 2023.

Good news, Mallenroh!

Possibly.

Based on what has happened so far, I can definitely see the designers trying to go for a Paladin mini-set legendary sometime soon to even everything out.

However, based on the unevenness of the class distribution so far, I wouldn’t be certain that Paladin will get its long–delayed Legendary in the next set simply because it is the obvious choice (based on the principle of keeping all 10 classes relatively even).

We’ll have to wait to see what happens.
