Seriously? Is everyone just accepting pirate warrior?

Seriously? Is everyone just accepting that pirate warrior gets to deal damage for free? It’s the same problem we had with Garrote rogue and OTK Warlock (in all it’s forms). What is the point of this game? Is it to have a fair chance at winning? Or to just cater to those that spend money on packs that they can then dust and turn around to craft these rediculous one-sided decks?

I could include face Hunter in this post. (Is there any other kind?) But it doesn’t seem to be very popular so the matchups are few and far between. Although, I’m sure that will change soon.

There are decks that feel much worse to play against, which is probably why people don’t complain that much about it. When you face pirate warrior you know exactly what you’re getting and it’s not cheating out a bunch of cards/spells/minions to beat you usually.

Yeah it only cheats random smite and gorehowl from the amazingly designed quest reward. Just because its not the strongest deck in standard that doesnt make it fine. Also it straight up ruins the entire Wild mode together with odd hunter.

Yeah, but how would one go about fixing it when the quest centers on playing a bunch of cheap and often undercosted minions? You can’t nerf all the pirates, and increasing the number required only delays it by a turn or two at the most. Like most quests, there is a certain feeling of inevitability any time you play against someone running it. If the goal was to slow down the game with the quests, Blizzard failed.

Blizzard failed in everything.

  1. They said no more OTK ? There are more OTK than ever
  2. They said more control meta ? The meta is most aggressive than ever
  3. They said more fun decks ? Fun decks are all tier 7, trades and board control no more exist. Now it is pew pew 2 free damage here and there, win conditions playable turn 6 without any penality.
  4. Legendary Quests : unbalanced, too easy to trigger, too present in the meta. A big nerf has been requested for months, because we don’t want to be forced to play quests or in a meta where quests are everywhere. There are tons of other archetypes we can’t play no more.
  5. Legendary Heroes : same problem than legendary quests. It kills deck variety and therefore the game itself. It’s fun yes, but it’s so strong we rarely can play any other way. Stop create 3 strong card per class and 30 useless cards in the pool, what a bad game design. Don’t be surprise everyone play the same decks and the game tends to be boring passed 10 days.
  6. Wild mode is the trash of the game. 3 decks played in all, the others are exceptions. There are thousands cards. No problem ?
  7. Always more legendaries each extension, without anyone noticing. Great commercial strategy, completely respectful of its customers. Please focus on recruiting real game designers

Pirate warrior is some of the worst garbage team 5 has ever printed but as long as they are still making money on they won’t nerf it.

druid DH mage paladin questline players “WHAAAAAT?”

and

who said this and when?

@Boreas

  • For legendary quests, sorry I was not clear. I was talking about cards when they were released. Quests were the only decks present for monthes. Now it is the same phenomen for legendary heroes. Now I hope it is clear
  • OTK : Blizzard had communicated about it several times since quite a while ago. Their promises were never fulfilled

This originally dates from an interview with Peter Whalen and Mike Donais. But they are no longer Hearthstone game designers. They had said they didn’t like non-interactive decks (speaking explicitly about the OTK Miracle Rogue deck with Leeroy Jenkins). They had started to make some nice extensions in this direction. Then OTK decks came back a few years ago and a lot of players still hate this type of game-ruining deck, and continue to say so. Except that now, game designers are hiding their heads in the sand.

It aint doing nothing for me at platinum 10, I am getting owned in the face.

Are you really gonna say quests are not present in the current meta? Specially if you put wild and standard in perspective. More than 70% of the decks I face are quest decks, bruh

I’ve called a zillion times for it to be nerfed, but I think Blizz is moving too many Cap’n. Garrosh units to consider it right now.

What meta had a Leeroy OTK?

I have been playing for 4 years and I don’t remember a Leeroy OTK during that time; or being discussed as a deck of the past.

imo wild pirate warrior can be called “the new golden standard” for mid-range boardcentric agro decks. The deck itself is vulnerable to many decks that are not popular. That may bring them back into the game if it’s too prevalent.

As far as power level goes, it’s just better that those of the same type in terms of tempo (since the others are no longer powerful enough to be popular) and face damage, but gets wrecked by big taunts and things that keep the board in check.

All in all the deck may get nerfed soon, because people just don’t want to play the decks that counter it since they are not very good against the other meta decks.

The same Peter Whalen that promoted the Gallery Priest OTK when Kibler, Frodan, and Firebat first thought that Gallery was a bad card during Boomsday reveal season?

They said no more charge and then they print Mr. Smite.

Friendly note: Activision is in control. Don’t blame Team 5, blame Activision. Do anything to get someone hooked.
