Roping is a problem. Stop excusing it

Every time someone says we need a report roping feature, it gets supported by normal players, and attacked by people who are obviously roping.

Firstly, when it happens once in a while, or even most of the time, it very well may be due to poor internet. But if it’s every single time without fail, and using emotes, let’s at least agree to agree that it is not an internet issue and is therefore a purposeful tactic.

So let’s then consider the trope of “well that’s their prerogative. They get to use their turn how they see fit”.

Sure, technically. Technically I can also legally go around insulting people on the street too, but I wouldn’t do that, because it’s a crappy thing to do. Similarly, roping serves no real purpose than to tactically frustrate the other player. It is the only use of that move. And the only reason it is done is because it’s virtual. There are no real consequences or guilt of a real person to face.

In any other board game irl, this would never happen. People wouldn’t sit there and take up their clock after making their play. WHY would it be acceptable here? It shouldn’t be.

So if we can prove it was not due to connection issues, and it happens literally every turn, make a report option. Those stats should be easily available to blizzard. It would greatly increase game flow and shorten times. That in turn increases more play (good for them) and a better experience (better for players).

I’m sure this won’t actually happen, and I’m sure there’s about to be a bunch of people who still make nihilist excuses for an obvious issue, but everything I said is true and I hope it does happen.

Not necessarly: I can say that I don’t like go against an aggro deck that wins by turn 5, but is that player to blame or the game that allows it?

I am against roping intentionally to drag the game on, but I am also against banning anyone that follows the game rules.

If tomorrow I wake up and I see that I am banned from the game for “playing” some games in BG without making any action, I would be shocked.

Roping is bad, but the solution shouldn’t be “ban everyone who abuses it”; it should be “blizzard has to change something so player will stop roping/are forced to not rope”

Nope, instead blizzard encouraged roping by introducing time based xp!

While its true you would get more xp by playing the game plenty if people will just get free xp for starting games and watching tv, roping over and over to farm easy xp without actually playing the game!

The system is currently designed to incentivize roping.

ill say the same thing all the whales say, if you dont like it, you can leave.

Thinking… It gives players time to think. Look at any high-level Hearthstone player and look how much time they take each turn to think out how they play. Good players don’t tend to play at lightning speed.

Have you seen a competitive chess match before?

100% Agree, now more than ever that roping is encourage by the new fantastic xp system. It would definitely improve the game by cleansing these toxic players. There are some classes that justify thinking, but if you are playing priest or face hunter and got 1 card on hand you don’t have much to think about my man, you are just a sad and pathetic player

Please please please blizzard do something about game length. Please offer an option to play with a shorter turn limit. I have played this game since the beta and really enjoyed it but watching the rope all these years has finally eroded my enjoyment to the point that I’m desperate for something. I’m not concerned with the new xp system but I didn’t want to make a new thread for a problem I’m sure a lot of players post about. For good measure I’d like to say PLEASE again.
