I play ranked standard exclusively. I haven’t seen anybody talking about this build, so I thought I’d ask if anybody else has run into this. Have you figured out the counter to this? I just got milled completely by turn 8. He uses a combination of Disguised Operator and Rat Burgler. I can’t remember the exact combo, but he basically stole a third of my deck by forcing me to draw, like, 8 cards and then played Rat Burgler. I don’t think there is any counter-play to this. Am I wrong? Best I can think of is Warlock with Godfrey the Betrayer. I don’t think any other deck can counter Rogue Mill, but I could be wrong. Anybody out there have any other ideas?

I think the mill rogue with rat burglar is so slow deck. So they basically lose to any fast deck, because they must hold all the rush minions and mimicry to at least turn 6 to work with rat burglar (or they use for tempo, then rat burglar become useless).
I play a version of mill rogue without rat burglar, and you may not believe it, but its best matchup is godfrey warlock (since the warlock draw by himself a lot of cards, so there ‘s so few cards left in their deck at turn 7–8). Sometime i even beat rafaam lock too, even when they have 40 card deck.
P/S: about countering mill rogue, just pressure them as hard as you can. If you ‘re too slow and greedy, then they will have room to prepare for their big thief turn.

Lol no, just because it has card burn protection doesn’t make it a counter, you can still die to fatigue

Simple , Azalina , 37 cards and u mill him also with his cards , u still can lose if u lose the board somehow , but is the best way to counter it , that or smash his face before he plays umbra

I build a ton of lifesteal, healing, and RAFAAAAM, so I don’t really die to fatigue easily at all. Oh and board clear. All the board clear.
Nah she is right , i thought on It , for get in fatigue as the rogue wants he have to burn ur cards , warlock hand is always full so the cards back to ur deck with discount (do that to a warlock and u getting highrolled easily) , the only thing rogue can do is wait till u get in fatigue for play umbra , and that not happening against lock without get highrolled with all the discounts , also rogue cant clean sheet , only saps , warlock is definitely near to imposible to win as a mill Rogue

Unless they’re Imp-lock. Still can’t get that tp work well at all.
Deck is not good i would not recommend playing it, the non rat burglar version is probably better but still not good, but you will get a win with it wvery once in a while so play it if ya want but dont expect to win a lot, to much aggro on ladder
How are you beating godfrey with mill rogue? You’re helping them discount their cards and drawing so they can just play regular minions/spells.
They do not go back to your deck, they’re set aside until your hand has room

Yeah and hand is always full so doesnt matter lol , basically warlock gonna have the full deck with discount (without burn any card) and easily highroll the poor rogue who only have 4 saps
What mill rogue wants to do is stall the game and let the opponent draw until dead to fatigue. The most thing you care when you pull the combo is how many cards left in their deck and how many draw you can give them into fatigue.
Godfrey lock is basically perfect target: they don’t have early pressure and they draw a lot by themselves.
The strongest combo of mill rogue actually is 2x 4/2 rush, 3x mimicry (thank to legendary spell copy) and prep into slide and dice, which draw their opponent 20 cards in a turn. And they can do it at turn 8 (7 with coin, you can generate it with 3 mana spell destroy a minion) with a perfect hand.
I just tried adding the new imp cards to my Godfrey/Rafaam deck. It’s surprisingly powerful. Someone many minions on the field. I had to take out some lifesteal and healing spells, bit the lifesteal from the imps seems to make up for it so far.
Did this earlier, first 3 matches i managed to win with timethief rafaam, that should tell you how greedy players are getting

Greedy? I’m not sure I get your meaning.
I doubt that you actually played mill rogue.
Godfrey herald lock and quest priest (the slow version running mediv) are best matchup for mill rogue. I actually have over 70% wr against these as mill rogue. Worst matchup for mill rogue are pirate warrior, attack druid, zee shaman and unholy dk.
So in the current meta, mill rogue is more likely a meme deck than meta deck, because most decks on the ladder are bad matchup for mill rogue.

I don’t use herald with Warlock. My Godfrey deck uses Rafaam, Godfrey, and the new imps. Kind of fun to play honestly.
Rafaam lock does much better against mill (rat burglar) rogue than herald lock. You have 40 cards deck, and strong board build up from turn 5-8.
I think you literally don’t care if they steal a single rafaam from your deck, because they can’t deal with the rest. Paying 4 mana for a 2/6 body to steal some (most of the time) unplayable cards is so bad.
