I was watching the live plays on Hearthstone’s youtube. It is exactly the same as the last 3 solos. Pick treasure every 2nd, and pick a card bucket. The only thing different is the wings are separated into 8 bosses per wing. This doesn’t feel very creative at all on the gameplay aspect… Why are they charging for this and claiming they put more effort into it?
There is a lot more repeatability. Rewards too. And besides, i had lots of fun with Dungeon runs and Monster hunts. Those two were great free content. Lots of people loved it and played for hours after completion. So why wouldn’t they charge for stuff people want to play?
Cant wait to get my hands on Dalaran.
I’ve enjoyed all the SPA stuff over the years. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes.
The Dungeon Run format has potential, Blizzard just simply ruined it with being kicked out of a run when you lose (you should be able to replay the duel as much as you want, just like how with old adventures a loss didn’t mean you had to start from the first duel over), and having decks be TOO random (starter deck should be full of cards you want to keep, and you should be able to choose from ALL buckets rather than just 3).
I’m not impressed at all. 2800 gold for 15 packs and a legendary? WTH is this? I spent money for expansions like Naxxramus where you actually received expansion cards. Hearthstone has got to be on the descent if this is now the norm.
I hate the dungeon run format and thankfully I’m not going to waste any money on the rest of the run. If they wanted to do a solo adventure it should have been in the style they use to have it in, not the same stuff they’ve been doing every expansion even though people keep complaining about how crappy it is.
I think they nailed the content. The normal run is really quite easy to do and if you really want challenge, heroic is also there. The progress of unlocking is really fun. Only criticism might be the price, but I guess that’s debatable.
Played both chapters now, and it’s pretty meh: all the same problems of the other Dungeon Run formats are still present.
Decks can be a little bit more fun (as Mage I built a gamble deck that sometimes summoned 2 Lich Kings (1 of them being 10/10) on the 2nd turn, as Shaman I built a crazy Knife Juggler deck having 7 Knife Jugglers, cheap minions made 1 mana cheaper, 1 mana twice usable Hero Power, Spirit Echo, Bloodlust, and some cards that summon multiple minions), but with all the ever-lasting Dungeon Run problems still there, it’s pretty meh.
An optional game mode for people who enjoy solo content, plus some extra bonuses. If you don’t see any value in the adventure itself, then it’s not meant for you. Go spend that 2800 gold on packs and Arena tickets instead.
Did somebody else notice that “Bob the Bartender” is an allusion or a hint towards the tv show “Cheers” from the 80s?
„Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your deck"
Now this song is going to be stuck in my head all day.
Sadly, Dalaran Heist has all the same problems, and has even found new ways to make it worse.
I find it not that ridiculous we’re being charged another $20 or $2,800g for this… because 15 packs (with cash) is roughly the same price. I find it MORE ridiculous this took over 1 month since the xpac to come out. REALLY!? So after everyone buys cards - NOW you release it when you had over 6-7 months since the last solo adventure and most people have bought cards or crafted the worthwhile ones?
That said, I find dungeon runs fun - and I thought the mechanic of the tavern was pretty cool. I also like you’re getting different stages/themes for each of the chapters. It’s definitely well more thought on than the prior dungeon run which was just completing stuff with different classes. Overall that’s worth some cash.
Would’ve been a solid 9 or 10/10 if this released WITH the expansion, since $20 for 15 packs and a reward (if you complete) is fair. But this took WAY too long to come out. People want to play with cards NOW… not wait over 1 month to get 15 packs and experience some new cards. C’mon Blizz.
You’re basically complaining that you have to play Hearthstone in this adventure.
This mode is NOTHING like f.e. Monster Hunt aside from the fact that you have to play/win 8 fights in a row with an increasingly bigger deck that isn’t yours.
a) You keep unlocking hero powers and starter decks
→ You can then choose what you start with
b) The Bartender lets you customize your deck
c) So far the treasures and additional Bartender effects seem much more fun
d) So far (from what I’ve played) the difficulty curve feels way fairer (and your own decks feel more powerful)
What they’re charging for? Basically a lot of work that went into this mode.
The concept might be the same, but it still feels like they’ve put more love in to this adventure than in the free ones.
- Chapter system
- Opening new starter decks/classes
- It seems that there are more dialogues/monologues
- Bartender encounters
- I find passive effects more exciting - really loved random DK hero powers
I’m not a fan of dungeon runs, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Still not sure it is worth my gold.
Basically, players complained that the game got stale around mid-late expansion. So instead of making something different, the genius Blizzard solution was to take existing content and delay it by a month, then charge us $20 for it.
I still play dungeon run at least once a week, though I think this new content will replace it for me. I am very impressed so far and really enjoying these two chapters. I will definitely get the full package.
I mean, Golden Zayle alone gives you the equivalent value of about 200,000 dust of you consider all the cards in the 5 decks, but sure, this adventure gives less than the packs you could get with the same amount of gold
Not to mention its fun.
I couldn’t disagree more.
I have finished the two available chapters and imo the Heist is BY FAR the best pve mode in Hearthstone to date. The replayability compared to other modes (especially old adventures) is insane (I never touched them again after I cleared them on heroic).
You also kinda missed the point on those adventure cards: One reason they canned them was because they felt like pay-to-play bs (you couldn’t craft them and you needed to buy the adventure which new players couldn’t afford gold-wise).
The Dalaran Heist has it all:
- pack rewards that you can get with gold
- a ton of pve fun (which is WAY less frustrating than any other dungeon run mode)
- a legendary reward that is cool but not needed to play the game
If you don’t want pve, you can basically just skip this one.
