Rez priest is only fun for one player. EVER

I’m not here to whine or beg for nerfs etc…

Games should be, in general, fun for everyone playing. Win or lose, there should be a feeling of competition and fair play. This hasn’t been the case for the majority of the new decks. Rez priest is on the top of that list from my experiences so far.

Not being able to play anything past turn 5 in a game just isn’t fun. As soon as Convincing Infiltrator drops on the board, it’s over. You can’t destroy it and if you return it to their hand, you’re only delaying the inevitable by one turn. This kind of play is only fun in games where you can choose your opponent and the deck you are playing against it.

Here’s my suggestion to semi-fix what’s happening:

  • Players set up 3 decks before joining the queue. When the match begins players see the 3 decks their opponent has and vice versa. You choose your deck, they choose theirs and the game begins. Neither opponent knows which deck the other chose however at least you had a modicum of a chance to combat unfair deck balance issues without nerfing the snot out of cards a week into release lol.

Let’s make games fun again

What if I only have one viable deck? Doesn’t seem like it would be very much fun then.

That’s a good question. I’m sure it could be overcome easily enough, especially with time. Newer players would run into this more than anyone else I’d imagine.

Blizz did just give out free decks mind you. So they aren’t afraid to give new folks a boost.

You’re handwaving the issue away. This system would make it less fun for people who tend to play one deck, either because they’re F2P or because they are new (or because they just like that one deck). Either way, I thought the whole point was to make the game “fun for everyone playing.” Having your one viable deck auto-countered hardly sounds like fun to me.

I see your point. Again though I only see this as an issue to new players, not having significant enough deck types to play with and agree that wouldn’t be fun for them. Which I’m sure would be something easier to overcome than grossly one sided battles.

Don’t get me wrong here. I want these decks to flourish and be played. I find them fun from time to time myself. I’m just trying to be constructive by providing a suggestion vs complaining for a change. lol

and dont use priest as an eksempel.
rez priest is buttom half tier 2 deck with a 50.72% win rate and worst match up is gala rouge(lots of those)
48,8% and 46.99% is the to next priest list.
so no thx.

I’ll use whatever reference is relevant to my opinion. lol

It’s not about win rates. It’s about various decks being overly oppressive to the game play itself and what, in my opinion, would serve the larger and less elitest player base better.

If you have something better to suggest then please contribute. I’d like to hear your ideas.

Aggro is only fun for one player.

Fundamentally you have different players on ladder who enjoy different decks and hate others. The entire game is about doing crazy things you enjoy that your opponent won’t enjoy. Aggro ending the game in 5-6 turns isn’t fun for the other player.

I also don’t think your suggestion changes much. Most players will just focus on one deck, especially when you have T1 decks right now that enjoy favourable match-ups across the board. What changes if you see Priest among my three decks? Just creates the potential for players to screw themselves by trying to predict the opponent’s choice.

The only way you could actually resolve this is to apply competitive rules to ladder and give every player a single ban. Hate Hunter? Ban it and never queue into them etc. But this risks creating issues with both match making and the meta overall so Devs have ignored it. Understandable.

My head just exploded.

As for the topic, I’d say there’s a lot of decks that are only fun for one person, but I’m guessing just because you lost to a rez priest, that’s why there’s a post.

No, it’s just the one that I come up against that annoys me the most. There are plenty of other OP decks but at gold 5 I’m not running up against much more than Priest, DH and Rogue. Haven’t had too many matches that left as bad a taste in my mouth as the Rez priests though.

Res priest is the answer to a shifting and annoyingly aggro heavy meta. Don’t hate on us res priest players. We only play because mindless aggro is so prevelant right now.

When I’m playing against Rez priest with my Rogue, I get super happy because it’s an easy win.

If I’m the one having fun, doesn’t that mean the Rez priest is not having fun?

I definitely vote for removing priest class from the game.

But how are other decks fun for both sides?

I mean - do people enjoy being killed by DH or Hunter around turn 7?
Or to get dropped to half the health early in the game thanks to some Inner Rage+Rampage followed up with Bloodsworn Mercenary?
Or to see gala rogue out tempo and out value them in every stage of the game by randomly generated cards?

Sure, you can find people enjoying it. I remember I have faced DMH Warrior in mirror match. After draw he sent me friend request asking for rematch and I was happy to oblige - 4 times in a row - 4 times draw

Because hunter and Dh are fun for both players lmao

Convincing Infiltrator on turn 5?

All classes, who use the owl, can throw that down from turn 3 on.
Priest has silence, that multi-silence spell, and time rip.
Mage wonders if the infiltrator is sad if it kills nothing.
Warlock may wonder the same thing.
An aggro deck should be able to kill it and move on.

I completely disagree with your title. Rez priest isn’t fun for anyone, just some people like winning or hate aggro enough to tolerate playing it.

On a more serious note, I’ve always thought Hearthstone would be better if you could define a deck or two that you don’t want to play against. Maybe with some threshold algorithm so if they swap a tech card or two it’s still recognized as the same deck. Maybe you only get rewards if you don’t have any such decks selected. I don’t know, after a long day at work with other responsibilities in the evening and a tiny window to have fun, I don’t want to sit down for a 25 minute game of pass->pass->heal->pass->heal->CI->rez->rez->rez. That and Galakrond rogue (personal opinion, though it absolutely boggles my mind the community is okay with near perfect early game removal + Flikk + toggwaggle 3 free cards + galakrond 4 free cards + infinite secrets now as if that is not idiotic design) really make me cut back on playing this game for other uses of my finite entertainment time.

I always wonder if “here’s the answer” posts like this come from ignorance of the fact that tech cards hurt you in every other matchup and, if they were worth it, would already be part of the meta – or if they have this knowledge and ignore it. FWIW, I have actually been driven to run Terrorguard Escapee in my DH big demon deck solely for this one priest archetype because I hate it so much – and it absolutely makes my deck worse just so Rez priest matchupes aren’t single player wastes of my time. The fact that an unfun deck has answers does not invalidate the complaint that it is not fun to play against.

Everyone has their hated deck. Rez priest is mine. lol. At no point in this have I said to remove or nerf anything.

I’m not going to run a strict anti-priest option as I’m not moving up and down the ladder because of them. I just don’t enjoy the match up at all. Yes, I have the chance of winning. Yes, the stats say that I should be good overall. I just don’t have the luck in the priest match ups and for ME, maybe not YOU, that’s an issue and I’m okay with people not agreeing with it.

As for the other decks people have mentioned. I haven’t really had enough issues to mind them overall. The game play has been tolerable so far.

edit: I’d like to clarify that I am not at all a pro player. I’m just an average player that wants to enjoy the little time I usually have to spend on a game. This one has fit the bill for plenty of years, until now!!! Mwaaahaaaahaaaahaa… or something like that.

I would rephrase that to “Everyone has their hated deck. It’s Rez priest.”

I love how people rage on rez priest then dismiss it’s mediocre win % just because they don’t like rez priest lol. But then they make it about what the “player base” or “community” wants.

I don’t think players would like this. I’d say it’s better to concede and move on if you dislike a match up so much or consider it a waste of time because you will almost certainly lose. This sounds like some kind of special tournament rules.

Nah, I’d much rather face priest than rogue.
