I just found out that after you reach level 50+, after every level you need more and more exp for same amount of gold. For level 62 I need 1375 and for 63 now I need 1400 and I will get 50 gold again. This is really stupid.
Seems like they decided to front-load the gold after 50 a bit as well.
Had it been even, it should actually be taking you 1,500xp to hit each level since it was 4,500xp for 150 gold before.
Assuming it follows the same pattern it did before the revamp, it’ll cap at 1500 XP, since under the previous system it capped at 4500 XP.
Wasn’t it a flat 4500 for ever single level post-50 before, though?
Several of us were expecting a flat 1500 again, rather than a curve.
Nope, it also went up. If you look at the original breakdown per level Out of Cards posted, you’ll see it started at 4050 XP and went up by 50 XP per level until capping at 4500 XP by level 59.

You are correct.
But this is good no? They cut the reward from 150g down to 50 and reduced the Exp needed to hit each 50g to below 1500 Exp (on average). It eventually does plateau at 1500 but that’s a net gain by my math.
According to the datamined infor from OoC, it didn’t

I was under the impression that this was correct and after the hump to get into 50, it was 4500 from 51-150 as the chart shows
Max is right, I’m a doofus and failed to notice the xp requirements from 50-59 ramping to 4500.
Yes, that’s good thing. I’m sure there’s a point where it averages out, but if they ramp it every 12 levels based on what the OP (which is only the first ramp so I have no idea when the next one is for certain) it wouldn’t hut 1500 per level until level 110, then average out at 170 and be a loss after that, but that only assumed they don’t still cap it somewhere.
OK now I’m confused. We’re both linking the same table, but saying different things about the XP gain?
Oh nvm, it does ramp between 50-59 then caps out.
Still, that’s a much quicker cap and - depending on when and at what amount they cap it now - shows the current post-50 gold gain to actually be better. At least for the moment.
My point is basically that the ramp is irrelevant. Even if they just ramped it Lvl 51 cost 1000 exp and level 52 cost 1500 exp and stayed there, or had no ramp at all you are still getting the same gold. Because there is even a ramp at all, we are getting more gold for our exp (all else being equal).
Yes, unless it ramps more aggressively to average out the same about of gold being given over X time played.
Obviously with a ramp, the more you cut off of that X the more favorable of a ratio you get, but it can work out to be less for larger amounts of time sunk if it ramps higher than the old 4500/150.
As it is, I’m just gonna call it a net gain until thw system shows otherwise, because that’s what it is at the moment.
That sounds about right… I’m very cautious and skeptical about what Blizzard is “giving” us these days.
i think the first few levels used to be 4000 then 4500 the rest
Fortunately the jump is only incrementally small. 25 experience, while annoying, isn’t as bad as how it is with the Battlepass with it being a couple hundred or more. This means you can at least earn and spend gold on a faster basis than having to wait 3 days to earn a larger chunk.
Still seems a bit off-putting.
Even assuming to gain a level a day (meaning at least a hour worth of play for 400 xp, plus daily quest, plus the XP from weeklies split seven ways), it would still be less than what you would have gotten with a low-roll quest plus win bonuses.
I guess we should assume that the gold gained up to level 50 should balance this (emphasis should), but it still feels a bit of a bummer.
Yep, that’s correct. It ramped from 4000 to 4500 between 50-59, then plateaued from there.
With the ramp from 1375 to 1400 at 62, they’d have to ramp up pretty aggressively, much more quickly than every 12 levels after 62 to balance it back to 1500 per level or worse, especially for anyone playing for only a few hours or less per day.
If you assume 400xp per day and only doing 900xp dailies, that’s still 2,157 per day. At 1400xp per level, that’s nearly eleven levels per week.
I guess I had my math wrong then. Good to know.
So with the rewards track being updated to 4,300 in gold alone, how much do we have to play per day after making it to 50 in order for us to reach around 7,000 gold?
They’re much more than 4,300 now.
It’s 5,050 from 1 to 50, with that now being 20% faster and 50 per level beyond.
I did the math back on another post using the known xp total required to hit 50 multiplied by 0.8, and someone playing for 400xp per day and rerolling to hit four 1000xp quests and three 900xp quests per week would make 8,550 gold per expansion, without accounting for achievement XP.
That number will now actually be higher due to post-50 levels seeming to give gold in a better ratio than the 50g/1500xp I had used in my math.
so, 1h everyday to get 2k golds a month?
