Back in December, I created a new HS account to test the New Player Experience & the Returning Player Experience.
When I returned back in April I got some Catch Up packs and a free deck, before letting the account go dormant again for another 90 days.
When I logged in that dormant account today, I did three quests to get three Catch Up packs, but there was no offer for a free deck, despite recent sources stating that accounts that were inactive for 90 days will get a free deck.
Any ideas as to why I am not being offered a free deck on my returning accounts?

I think you need to be gone longer than 90 days for the free deck. Tbh idk how long I just don’t think 90 days is the number. I guess it is 90 days actually, so idk why you didn’t get it unless you logged in sometime during the 90 days.

My bad,
I was gone long enough to trigger the Catch Up pack quests and the options to choose a free deck, which can be claimed in 7 days, but I just did not get any notifications to alert me that I had access to the free decks as soon as I logged in.
The free deck options can be seen when a player goes to play a constructed match.
Here are the current deck lists for the free decks:

So I am exploring what can be accomplished with creating a quality Standard deck by going inactive for 90 days and returning for the free Catch Up packs and a free deck—and doing this 2 or 3 times in one year.
In April, I did the new player experience on a new account for all three servers, and then I came back in July and played some Arena to get the quests done for three Catch Up packs.
So what kind of resources did I get by doing this? Well, each collection has about:
1). 2000 gold
2). 1600 dust
3). 51 unopened packs (3 Catch Up packs & 20 Standard packs, etc.)
4). The free DK Plaguebringer deck (with Reska, The Primas, Prison of Yogg-Saron, and Helya).
5). I can claim the DK Headless Handbuff deck in 7 days.

I am thinking about trying to use the two free DK decks to make a Rainbow DK deck, since I have enough dust to craft Zilliax, enough gold to buy the Fall of Ulduar mini-set (to get Yogg-Saron, Unleashed), and we get Gorgonzormo for free.
So is Rainbow DK any good in Standard right now? Would crafting the deck be worth the effort?

Also, nice work there with catch-up analysis

Thais why so many Chinese bots stuck in Diamond play that deck… its free with a new account lol.
That’s kinda hilarious.

I swapped to another game in the expansion when the riffs came out, is it worth jumping back in?
How do the last few sets feel because I didn’t really like the last 6 expansions before I quit.
Also still f2p and very casual so I will probably be seeing what I can achieve in wild.
The choice to choose a free deck only after a week or something. Meanwhile, you are free to play with any of those decks.
Don’t know if applicable.
Ya, none of the six current free decks look that good or fun to play.
As far as which deck to claim, the Priest deck (Dragon Time) with Timewinder Zarimi, Aman’thul, and Pip the Potent, might be the best value and the strongest free deck, but I rather not play Priest.
The DK deck (Headless Handbuff) only gives two Legendaries (Headless Horseman & Maw and Paw), but by combining cards with this deck and cards from the previous free Plaguebringer DK deck, along with the addition of Zilliax and Yogg-Saron, Unleashed, I could make a DH hybrid deck, like:

But would such a deck be good enough to have fun with it?

That depends on your taste and definition of fun
It’s definitely playable, but will it continue to be playable when the meta settles in? One can only guess
Ya, will the deck be viable by the time I can claim the free deck and cannabalize it for parts?
In the meantime, since I was one win away from claiming this month’s card back, I decided to test the deck out on my main account, as I only needed to craft a few cards to make it. I won my first two games with it, and busted my way out of Bronze ;).

DK will always be viable in some form or another, if you like the playstyle, take it

Wild is definitely the place to be building your own deck as opposed to just a meta deck.
Just hopped onto one of my other accounts, opened packs there I hadn’t opened and bought Lich King packs until I got a legendary - Rommath. Turns out the account has quite a few mage Epic/Legendary cards so added Rommath and auto-completed the rest. About 10-15 changes later including Deck of Lunacy got a pretty fun deck winning games in Wild Bronze which doesn’t say much but important thing is that it was fun.

When I quit wild previously in favour of other modes there were basically just a lot of overtuned decks that would win on turn 4 with the likes of pirates or otk. Wild was much better when it took a little bit of setup.
That said, without access to the last 4 major sets and whatever minisets I believe that taking to my old decks and crafting up one or 2 legendaries usually gives me the best results when I return. I rarely have enough collection to play standard.
Last time I returned they still had classic and I played that mode for a few months while I slowly read over the new cards at my own pace. I am not really enjoying the later additions to keywords, the sunken one was okay, but it was basically just a scry, only that it is a little bit too easy to get what you want in HS. I am not a fan of titans, hero cards or quests so I am hoping they have moved away from such power play cards and potentially slowed the game down a touch.
rainbow dk not that good right now

Thanks, DK may be subpar right now as compared to other classes in Standard.
I ended up claiming my free DK today and making a hybrid Plague Excavate deck, which I used to get the card back.
I am just going to claim the free deck on nine different collections and then let the accounts go dormant again for 90 days, because Standard does not look very fun to me right now.
I dislike quests and titans as well, but I do like a lot of the heroes.
With that new account that I made in April, I had enough resources to make Deathrattle DK, so I made the deck and I had an easy time getting 10 wins with it.
The deck easily beat Warrior if it did not get a bad draw, so that was fun.
So overall, between completing the Apprentice Track and letting the account go dormant for 90 days to take advantage of the returning player rewards, it allowed me to build an OK deck—to my surprise.
