So; If I understand Regis correctly Druid is getting a Big Spell deck?
Sounds about right.
BSM is abandoned along with WF Mage and Druid gets the support cards.
I never took you for a Standard player, is that where your focus has turned too?
i started playing Standard again when WF Mage became a thing, because I love the playstyle.
Guess Ill be back to Wild.
IDK, if I dont quit altogether.
I really despise the design decisions.
What is WF Mage o.O?
I’m not saying you have to go play Wild or anything, was just curious lol. I can tell you don’t like the design choices. I think it might stem from what “used” to be, an how they have altered there design decisions nowadays. Some of it good, some of it bad.
Quitting HS takes a lot, you will need another good time escape for sure like I did lol. I did see you mention your Birthday is coming up on the 22nd actually an will be swinging by the forums somewhere to wish ya a Happy Birthday man. My advice? Get a motorcycle an become the Archmage Antonidas on wheels .
“Wildfire Mage”. But they are abandoning it, looks like.
Had a Bday party early today 'cause family has to work, but it was really fun, got to see most of the GKids:)
I wouldn’t expect any Wildfire cards in a separate expansion year, or else your class will be severely crippled in the following year when this years hero power cards rotate.
Yeah well; it was really naive of me to expect that mage would receive continuing support for existing decks the way libram Pally or any Hunter did.
Stupid me.
The “existing” decks will lose 90% of their key pieces in standard. Mage meanwhile gets to keep wildfire, arcane snowflurry, modresh fire eye and most pieces of the deck, plus the mage hero.
Well; I think it will be underpowered vs. brand new decks, but maybe?
I think it won’t be like an entire deck, but rather a supplemental package to the new tempo oriented Mech deck, and they will probably add a new mech that fires your hero power at an enemy or something like that.
Sorry to be so blue about the new cards. They just seem terrible to me.
I dont know if I would call what they have given Paladin and Hunter support for existing archetypes.
The Hunter naga doesn’t seem like it goes in Quest Hunter, and Face Hunter is going to get a completely new look as it does every year, but especially this one with Wolpertinger and Rhino rotating.
The paladins cards so far seem to support a deck that, while using buffs, is more focused on holy spells. And with Paladins entire Libram package rotating and a ton of other buffs, the deck will most likely be completely new.
I was talking about how Libram pally got support repeatedly until it was really good.
Face Hunter too, got cards over time, until it was tier 1
I had hoped that WF mage might get some extra support that way too.
But, looks like they are remaking the class completely, again.
Paladins Libram package never actually got any more support after Darkmoon Races gave the Libram weapon. Sure they printed cards that worked well with Librams, but it wasn’t in direct relation to the Libram package.
But you see my point. They gave the deck cards that enhanced what it already had.
I was hoping WF Mage might get the same thing.
Really dumb of me. I should know better.
I think it’s overly presumptuous of Regis to think that a big spell druid archetype would actually work, I think a big hand druid could get some big 10/10 taunts down on turn 5 and refill hand in the process.
Mech mage will play out exactly how a pirate warrior deck traditionally played out, I mean Mecha-shark + cheap mechs seems like the main engine, I’m expecting more cards to specifically draw out the mechs, if not then it’s probably not going to work as well as the other similar decks I’ve seen that have plenty of refill.
Well it sounds like fun for somebody. I wont play it unless forced to.
It’s a strange flavour for mage, yeah it is probably a design flaw, but short of deleting the class when they want to make a minion centric meta, I think this alternating between naga → spell → naga is not going to be very interesting either, we have not seen very many of the cards yet though and well… where are the board wipes? They have to come from somewhere.
I’m sure Team 5 figures mage doesnt need any. They can just use mass poly and hope for the best.
What are you looking for in Big Spell Mage or Wildfire Mage that isn’t from Year of the Gryphon exactly? The deck list is pretty refined and is really only going to be better after rotation. They also literally just added big spell support in the Onyxia’s Lair miniset.
Until we see the core set, we really don’t know what either mage deck is going to look like to be honest.
