Rate the classes on annoyingness

A class is at the top of the heap. They have the best deck or two and make up a great slice of the pie. One in every three games is against that class.

Now, which class would you prefer to be that class? That you’ll face somewhat constantly with a top tier deck?

I think my preference goes something like this:

  1. Shaman
  2. Paladin
  3. Rogue
  4. Warlock
  5. Druid
  6. Hunter
  7. Warrior
  8. Mage
  9. Priest

Looking at that ranking, I suppose that I much prefer aggro to be at the top rather than control.

Priest is always completely miserable when they get too powerful. They are fine as a spice but suck as a main course.

Beyond changes in my prefered flavor of the day, I agree with that list.
Though both Paladin and Shaman are far from control- or aggro-classes, in the current meta.
They appear to be more “honest” in their gameplans when compared to Priest in the past, or Mage right now, however.

It’s kinda difficult to rate overall, without reminding myself of the best decks those classes have had.

If I had to go with overall experience this is least annoying to max annoying top = least bottom = most annoying.

1.) Warrior
2.) Warlock
3.) Hunter
4.) Druid
5.) Shaman
6.) Priest
7.) Paladin
8.) Rogue
9.) Mage

I don’t find any class annoying. I find one deck to be highly annoying and that is Big Priest.

Warlock with Reno Jackson, and Deathwing? It’s what I get for playing Wild. I happily signed up for the format because I was tired of facing the same three or four decks. Even my most cheesey losses are funny once I shake off the salt.

I find one deck to be annoying but I wouldn’t be as blinded to punish a whole class for what one deck does: when all Priest has is Big Priest, what do you expect them to play?

This is clearly a warrior main’s perspective, lmao.

Just sayin’.

From most annoying to least annyoing (of course I’ll be exaggerating a little and every class has its fun decks):

Priest
Just because of resurrection and because they haven’t been doing anything else for 2 years now because why would they? The mechanic is broken and the best they have. And if not resurrection, it’s revival and then Inner Fire. FUN.

Druid
What exactly happend to this class 2 years ago? The whole balance went from “ramp but no top tier” to “good at everything except aoes” to “the most annyong core set ever”. And they seemed to keep on printing totally busted cards to make thing worse and worse. Choose one with 3 choices? Check. Some totally busetd combos with more synergies than one could count? Check. Stalling and more broken cards like Spreading Plague like there’s no tomorrow? You betcha. In the end I was so sick of druid, that I never played the class again to this day.

Hunter
When they are annoying, they are REALLY annoying. I always picture some fat nerd sitting in a cellar smiling to himself while never trading and always going face. Is that fair? Course not … I sometimes like winning fast myself :stuck_out_tongue: But thank god that Rexxar DK rotated out …

The other classes I were never really 110% annoyed of. There were (of course) decks and archetypes that grinded my gear but I never really hated those classes in general.

Every class has been annoying at one point of time.

Can’t group them by their past meta performance. For example I loved Odd and Even Paladin but I hate OTK Murloc Paladin and Secret Paladin. Paladin’s true identity is sometimes still a mystery to me.

Without question I would personally nominate Priest as most annoying class in HS. Even when the class is low-tier it STILL remained as one of the most annoying class. Nothing will change as long at the identity is: OTK, mind-control, card-copy.

If based on their class identity

Chill classes

Shaman, Warlock, Mage, Warrior.

These classes don’t have much to complain about. Pretty straight forward, fun and It doesn’t even matter if they’re Control or Aggro. I just rarely feel bad for losing against them.

Less chill classes

Druid

This class has so much potential, it’s such a shame Blizzard is doing nothing great for the class. Constantly nerfing basic set, but I see nothing awesome in return for YEARS.

What happened with the good old Control Druid / C’Thun Druid era with their iconic beefy taunt minions?

Paladin

Just not a fan of Divine Shield. Buffing and divine shield is an annoying combo. But I greatly enjoy facing Dude/Even Paladin. Would gone up if Paladin had a solid identity and fun divine shield synergy.

Rogue

Another “originally higher” but thanks to card-copy and “snow-ball effect” like Kingsbane or Spectral. Rogue gets little bit less fun to play against.

Hunter

I think this class need some refinement.

Sometimes I wonder why Blizzard dropped its “face_is_the_place” theme of Hunter. It’s still aggressive, but not the same level as it originally was.

I do admit, Spell Hunter is one of my most favorite deck.

Least chill classes or even just nonsense at core

Priest

Like I said, core identity is just very annoying by far, even a long time ago when the class was weak, it was still an annoyance.

Least tilting to Most tilting(Over all of HS history)

  1. Warlock
  2. Warrior
  3. Druid
  4. Paladin
  5. Mage
  6. Priest
  7. Shaman
  8. Hunter
  9. Rogue

Nothing has made me angrier, as a Priest player, than the fact that the rotation rolled through and Priest is literally still just playing the same decks it was before that. I don’t care about how good or bad they are (they’re really bad right now), the fact that there is nothing new that is remotely viable is infuriating.

The Rotation failed us.

I will admit there were some metas that made fighting a priest a bit bad, but never have I ever not enjoyed playing Priest myself.(More than I can say for any of the other classes, including warrior)

I would say an overpowered Priest deck is more fun for the user than most other over powered classes. At least one player is having fun, vs an aggro meta where everyone is suffering.

Although I rate Priest at 6 on my tilt list, I wouldn’t mind a priest meta. I would also dare to add I think Priest is the most underrated class in HS.

hhhmmm, interesting… I would think a fellow warrior main would like Priest as well. I always seen Priest as another type of warrior, whenever a mechanic I try out doesn’t work with warrior, I always go to priest next.
People have said warriors are sometimes very annoying (Although I don’t agree I could see their point) I wonder what is your take on the annoyance level of warrior vs Priest.
I think it’s core cards are amazing. There are some cards that doesn’t really fit into the design very well, but they are amazingly fun to mess with from time to time. I always thought of Priest as a mix between the control aspect of warrior and the cheating aspect of rogue. You get the feeling of shutting down your opponents at the same time as cheating out value, what could be better?

Annoyingness and Power are 2 separate animals. If I rate for true annoyingness its always. Again Power of the class and decks =/ Annoying. I can deal with powerful decks when you have counters readily available to every class but I can’t deal with annoying mechanics like Resurrect that only has a few counters in only about 1/3 of the classes.

  1. Priest
  2. Priest
  3. Priest
  4. Priest
  5. Priest
  6. Priest
  7. Priest
  8. Priest
  9. Everyone Else.

  1. Hunter. Always hunter, regardless of meta. I don’t think I ever have liked playing against hunters. Also they have Freezing Trap, the most OP secret after Explosive Runes.
  2. Mage. They tend to often come up with anti-fun decks. Freeze mage/Quest Mage, burn mage, and now Conjurer mage. And with Polymorph they can prevent a lot of shenanigans against themself.
  3. Shaman/Warlock. The third spot was hard to choose, so I’ll make it a tie. Shaman for Murlocs and Bloodlust, and they have Hex. Warlock for Zoodecks and superb recovery tools.

Priest is number 1 by far. Entomb, ressurections that are way to cheap.potion of madness, innerfire, mind control (not often used when spitefull was thing),psyshic scream. Whole class is basicly build around being annoyibg to your opponent.

Hunter just due the hero power and huntertaker. I play rogue the most so little heals avaible so if you stabalize you just die to the 2dmg ping quite often.

Shaman due evolve i never was a fan of the mechanic and even less the dk got stuck with it. To rng for my liking as a whole. Like chain gang or doppelgangster for board of 5/6drops or they get crap luck and loose.
Also devolve 2mana gets rid of ress, tribe synergy, buffs, deathratthles on a whole board i hated that spell since came out.

Rest i dont mind at really

Hunter and Shaman. Have people forgotten about Shudderwock?

Everyone saying Priest is probably a Hunter.

Nah ive always since launch of game found priest most annoying/ least fun class to go against

In this meta right now, here are my favorite classes to play against broken into tiers. It kind of depends on which deck I’m playing myself too, and what specific archetype my opponent’s deck is.

  1. Mage, Rogue
  2. Druid, Paladin, Priest, Warlock
  3. Hunter, Shaman
  4. Warrior

For me, most annoying was rogue. Is rogue. Will always be rogue. Miracle…ugh. Mill…double ugh. Kingsbane, the never-ending, nearly free, impossible to destroy weapon that kills any minion (with poisonous) and adds health (with lifesteal)? Quadruple ugh…God, I hate that class.

(Long post incoming)

Yea, Warrior and Priest do have some similarities, I would say most notable is the self-heal from their hero-powers and stalling play-style, but they have also lots of differences, and I think the difference is significant. Especially their core set and class identity.

Priest has no solid core Control tools. It gets them from expansions. Their core is literally OTK, thoughtsteal, silence and mind-control-effects. When you look at that nothing of it resembles Warrior.

Warrior has solid core Control tools. Most likely the best one. Unlike Priest, Warrior completly lacks RNG value-generation, Warrior’s classic OTK potentials are nerfed long time ago. So Warrior is known for just Boardclears, Weapons, Removals and the most random thing about the Warrior is Brawl, and that one is somewhat controllable RNG board-clear.

Warrior’s only complain would be “game last too long, I’ve no time for games”. Just like you I can see and understand somewhat that reason too. But compared to Priest, I rather play a little bit longer match than playing against Priest doing thought-steal roulette. Sometimes copying 2x armorsmit, sometimes Gorehowl and Ragnaros, letting game decide massive-RNG that may copy your “powerful” cards is just awful. No other class does this. It’s not just Warrior… nobody has this type of annoyance core-set.

Thoughtsteal in recent years has become kinda a meme card. But Priest’s other unlikable identity still lives up in new expansions.

Interesting, my take on the classic cards of Priests is that they control through BS as oppose to warrior’s class design of control through brute force. I have always seen priest cards such as the shadow word cards and mind control cards as control cards. I wish Blizzard would give them silence card as a control tool rather then push it as offensive tool. I do also wish that Blizzard could implant a defensive buff card on priest like they have always pushed for.
I think they would benefit if they do have a decent board clear in their classic set, their mass Hysteria is a lot like warrior’s brawl. They have gotten so many good board clears over the years, even more than warriors but they all just rotate out and it’s sad.
Cards like dusk breaker, excavated evil, lighbomb, dragonfire potion I all really enjoy using and I wish one of them would stick.

I do agree that winning through playing an opponent’s class is bs, but I did like the OTK DK priest. It kinda reminded me of control warrior where you survive until you get the right cards and then you just wait until your opponent dies by fatigue, (in priest’s case 2 damage over and over.) I think that would have been the perfect mechanic for priest if it wasn’t too overpowered or underpowered.

It seems you hate priest for the same reasons as I hate rogues. Too RNG based and bs cards. I would say Rogue wins against priest stealing cards wise. Plus they have cards that literary breaks the game (I know every class does, but I think they have the most in their classic set.) They can recall a minion over and over again just to play it over and over again. That’s not fun, it directly breaks the rule of not having more than 2 copies of the same minion in your deck. (I am not saying it’s broken, but it’s just a bit tilting.)
