Questlines Was The Worst Designed Cards Of All Time?

I remember when they are released, all control decks dead, all decks are questlines and many nerfs was needed, even the powerhouse mode Wild could handle the absurd OP some are.

But now they are completely gone, no one play anyone and all are dusting in the collection, so, or they are so insanely unbalanced and unfair or no one can tolerate the boring scripted gameplay.

You guys agree they are the worst cards ever released in this game history or have even worse offenders?

Far from the worst designed, and the Druid quest is still played.

What is in your opinion the card or group of cards are the worst designed ones so far? I don’t remember cards alone who always will be draw completely erradicate archetypes before.

I think the idea was good, but some of them were too op/easy to fulfill and unfun to play against (hunter, pirate and warlock is what comes to mind first).

I don’t have problem with questline priest because feel like a real quest with deserved reward, the other are so ridiculous OP reward for what can be called small little tasks instead quests.

People always say “questlines” when what they mean is Hunter, Warlock, Shaman, Mage, and Warrior questlines.

Druid, Rogue, Demon Hunter (I mean when it was released), Priest, Paladin were all fine.

The questlines had a lot of big enablers from Year of the Phoenix (namely Lightning Bloom, Backdraft and Cram Session) that once they rotated the huge nerfs to questlines weren’t really warranted. But the final rewards were still way too good at ending the game I guess.

I LOVE the concept of questlines. The biggest weakness of quests was always giving up that card from your mulligan and your first turn, questlines fix that. But the final rewards were too strong.

The Questlines of United in Stormwind are without a doubt THE WORST designed and implemented cards of ALL TIME. When United in Stormwind introduced questlines it completely killed all control decks in the game in both Standard and Wild to the point of multiple popular control decks having a win rate of ONLY 14%. Also, in the Esports Grandmasters scene only one player in the entire grandmasters roster had a control deck in his lineup of 3 decks for multiple months (he actually had 2 control decks in his lineup but not a single other player had one control deck).

The meta was statistically 70% aggressive zoo style decks to counter the combo decks and 30% questline combo decks and not a single control deck could be played viably until the nerfs as 30% of matchups (questline decks) were a guaranteed loss. The balancing was so bad that Questline Warlock was banned in wild, multiple cards dated back to ashes of outland had to be nerfed in order to nerf the Stormwind questlines indirectly and Questline Mage, Odd Questline Hunter and Questline Pirate Warrior eliminated all deck archetypes in Wild that had survived years up until that point until the next expansion came out 4 months later. During United in Stormwind player dissatisfaction was at its all time high with the forums being swamped with probably 10x more posts than usual, every content creator making videos criticizing questlines and multiple feuds on Twitter between actual people on the development team and pro players along with casual players of the Hearthstone community.

Even as of 3 months ago, Questline Demon Hunter was dominating the standard meta and the Questline reward was never even played after completing it, they were only playing the Questline as a tool to reduce 9 mana worth of card cost and didn’t care about completing it.

I love Questlines. And so do real Hearthstone players. By the numbers United in Stormwind was the second best expansion of the past two years in terms of seeing a growth in the player base, only behind March of the Lich King. Questlines sell packs, your “well designed” cards do not. Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad.

Maybe bad designed, but gives flexible design space, but they failed it.

I play a lot of Hearthstone. I’ve played it since open beta. United in Stormwind is easily my least favorite expansion. Some of the questlines were are a big part of the reason why I disliked the expansion so much.

Am I not real? Should i see a doctor to check? Will a medical doctor do? I’m not sure if my insurance covers doctors of philosophy.

With the “real” thing I’m just pointing out that there’s a difference between the overall player base and the online community, and that objective measurements are a better way of measuring the opinions of the former than conducting polls or listening to complaint threads.

Maybe “realer” is a better word. Because I don’t mean to imply that your opinions don’t exist, only that they don’t map that well onto the overall whole. My point is that one is more real than the other, not that the lesser is utterly devoid of realness.

It’s okay to disagree with the tastes of the majority. I don’t want anyone to pretend that they like something that they don’t. But I think it’s delusional to view Questlines and/or United in Stormwind as some kind of business or design failure.

Where do you get this statistic from that Hearthstone playerbase experienced growth during this time? Also, your comment about the real player base liking questlines is not accurate. Every single person I make friends with in this game that has been playing it for multiple years all agree that Stormwind is the worst expansion of all time, many youtubers including poeple like Brian Kibler and others that I forget their names but remember watching their videos all greatly disliked Stormwind and made videos talking about the balance and even Solem hated it so much that he quit playing Hearthstone during Stormwind.
The hatred towards the expansion spilled out of these forums and reddit and entered directly into real conversations with some devs on twitter where they mocked the player base and were reprimanded for it. If I’m not mistaken it was only the Chinese player base that increased as a whole which inflated the numbers of the overall player base and they made up most of the percentage of polls that were happy with Stormwind.

You aren’t real enough to be mapped. Think you should rethink the doctor

The quests ruined every expansion in the rotations they were in. By giving a relatively high base power level to each class with easy to achieve win conditions. Any subsequent deck had to be at least as powerful as the quest line deck or you might as well just play that, thus the ridiculous power creep and unfun experience that characterized this rotation.

Basic Googling. If you did any research at all you’d know that Hearthstone has been growing for 2½ years now. But you’d rather live in your salty social media echo chamber bubble.

Ok so the player base has been growing as a whole for 2 1/2 years, yet when I googled it said 4 years so in this entire timeframe Stormwind just happens to fall in as one of the expansions, yet so do 12 other expansions. Also, I looked up specifically how much did the hearthstone player base increase during United in Stormwind and I didn’t see a single statistic about a player base increase in the first 2 pages of google considering you said it was basic googling. In fact I did see one statistic about a player base decrease at the beginning of Stormwind because of the allegations concerning the employee assault scandal.

Quest warrior is still a thing, though. Lol.

It does very well against DK.

I wonder how much of the recent “growth” has to do with the bot apocalypse. Since it’s a free app anyone can install and play once with no obligation I think a better metric for popularity would be pack sales. How does that trend look?

I think the Demon Hunter Questline shows what the main problem with them was, which was that the midpoint rewards were too much. Maybe if they had only 1 midpoint reward then it would have worked better?

genn and baku got moved to wild a year early, so they are still 1st as worst
