Quest Mage Deck needs nerf

Absolutely a piece of cake to complete the quest by turns 6-7, discount with Incanter’s Flow, Infinite 0 cost card draw with Spring Water and Cram Session (4 cards with the +3 spell dmg for 0 mana almost all the time), full deck draw with Gadgetzan Auctioneer and infinite face damage with Ignite +3 permanent spell damage. Plus many freeze spells make any board irrelevant. There is no interaction and mages can just one shot in one turn a full health opponent. If this is not ridiculous then I do not know what is! And you guys took charge minions out of the game because they are not interactive? While infinite face damage from hand and deck in one turn is? Really? Are you serious or is this a farce? Also I think any employee that designed and/or allowed this to go through should be fired ASAP. They are obviously not fit for the job.

It’s not a good deck and is easily beaten and has fallen down to tier 3. With just a little looking around, you will find numerous decks/ways to farm this for easy wins.

  • Check out Killuminati’s post on the mainpage titled “Today’s Legend Meta” if you’d like to see how this deck is performing at higher levels of play. I think there are also some good posts showing how easily the deck is countered.
  • Vicious Syndicate recently had an extensive podcast on the meta which is incredibly helpful and interesting to hear (tl;dr, quest mage is trash). They even eat crow on their own misconceptions: VS Data Reaper Podcast: Episode 53, to be specific.

Can I ask that you clarify the difference between ‘infinite’ card draw and ‘full deck’?

Quest Mage had it’s fun at the start of the expansion, but as decks get refined it’s dropping further and further behind. It was tier 1 top deck on Tuesday and now it’s the 4th best deck and going down more and more.

It’s all mage has going for it at the moment. It would be better if people just gave up on it and started focusing on another mage deck to see if anything else is viable. Quest Mage will never be #1 for any lengthy amount of time. Robes and Watchtower techs will make sure of that.

All that being said, it’s likely to get nerfed because it’s a solitaire style of play, and they have heavily expressed they dislike those decks. Even if it’s Tier 4, it will get nerfed somehow.

If the much talked about robes and watchtower posts are the only cards keeping a lid on this thing then for sure it needs a nerf.

WTF have you guys done to the game? I played 20 games yesterday and 17 were against quest mages lmao. Needless to say that I lost 90% of them because my deck relies on minions on the board and quest mages don’t need any minions? All they do is face and then 1 shot you by round 7 wtf?

thats odd

quest mages lose most of their games to minion focused decks

Questline mage is good vs a lot of minion based decks. Its positive vs taunt Druid, beast hunter, handbuff paladin, libram Paladin. Unless you’re teching your minion decks with Robes of Protection or Crossroads Watchposts, you’re never going to stick a board past turn 4/5ish vs mage.

questmage is BS I am being FORCED to play garrote rogue because of spellmage which isn’t an unenjoyable deck though I would rather be playing something more slower and control but I can’t because quest mage has unlimited value.

if my draw happens to be in the last 10 cards like last game spellmage still wins otherwise it dies, bhahaha

solitaire vs solitaire = solitairestone

Why should I center my whole deck building and gaming experience in playing the exact counter to a broken deck? That is completerly bad design

Then don’t, mage is not that big of a deal, it has good and bad matchups just like whatever deck you are playing. Even if your deck has a 35% winrate against mage doesn’t mean you’re never going to win against it, just that mage would be favored. You don’t have to win every game, just play whatever deck you like and if you lose to quest mage, you probably have other matchups where you’re just as favored as mage is against your deck. Mage is not that strong, and far from “broken”, get over it people please…

You are right. I got over it. I don’t play this game anymore
