Puzzlemaster Khadgar and the "Helpful" spells

I don’t understand how this card works guys…sometimes the spells are really helpful and on point and sometimes Khadgar has a stroke, and with an almost full board of the enemy, casts counterspell. So my question is this…does Khadgar casts spells randomly and you have to get lucky or is it bugged and doesn’t work properly around 70% of the games?

it’s simple bud, the spells are random without considering board state.

they just wrote useful instead of random to shamelessly promote it.

It’s another RNG fiesta card forced onto mage so that team 5 can give spell damage, freeze, and burn from hand to other classes.
Team 5 has treated mage like trash for a long time .

that card need to be more powerful, Like cast 1 random secret and 1 helpful spell and get 1 mage spell to your hand that cost reduced by 3.

They will never give mage anything that good or specific, as long as the designers team 5 has now are in charge.

No matter what Blizzard says the hands on evidence makes it crystal clear its all random, no other Mage card has pissed me off this much.

Its not about the power level of the card, i have played far worse cards in Mage over the years but i cant stomach the deception of that reveal trailer…

And no its not bugged its just what the best they can do ,i refuse to belive they have the ability to program the card as implied.

This is my Hearthstone Shujinko moment when he realizes who Damashi really is…

May everyone that made that trailer and all those that perpetuate the LIE step on a lego piece daily for the rest of their long lives.

Why print the card at all, is what I want to know? Mage has been force- fed trash cards long enough.

I am convinced this card isn’t even random it actually wants to trip you over.
5 minions on enemy board and it casts Fireball. 4 from those have a lower health than 6 and guess which it hits, the one with health above 6…

15 year old can program the card to do what they advertized.

3 year old if he is chinese

Besides, you dont have to look for proof further than Zephrys the great

And yet here we are…So what gives ???
You forget that Zephrys is close to 5 years old…
Let me say this again the people right NOW working on the game have 0 clue how to program a card like Khadgar.

Came to the forums to complain and saw this at the top of the forums…wow. I am tired of this bullsh*t. If they can’t give my favorite class some support…this will be the last expansion for me.

I have enough programming knowledge to guarantee you that it’s not their lack of skills which is the problem

I can’t say I know what’s in their mind, though, but I can assume that it’s about RNG as a way to balance classes

The more RNG, the more balanced the outcome of every roll, so I guess they’re just forcing it to be RNG

And we all know how RNG sometimes looks like things are “rigged”, don’t we? At least the forum is full of such experts who know that xD

If i recall correctly the wisdomball gave spells good fpr the occasion in the adventure

A free Zephrys for six turns would be absolutely broken. What’s next? A turn 5 OTK shaman deck with no interaction or 17/12 Leeroy with windfury and divine shield? Insanity.

I’ve used Khadgar and I’ve found him useful every game I put him.

Once I even didn’t have other options but to rely on it casting blizzard, so I just ignored the whole board of minions and hit face with everything else, and it cast blizzard.

Just as advertised!

Other situations it was always useful. The worst option I’ve seen was fireball on a 2/2 minion once, but even that’s better than nothing.

Unfortunately this is the 100% truth.

Actually they kinda said how it works once.

Basically anything that does not actively hurt you is helpful.

So if it cast a fireball on the 1/1 in a board Full of big minions It is “helping” by taking that 1/1 for you.
One less enemy minion for you to remove.

So First it decides all “helpful” outcomes and then choices at random between they.

Other example would be polymorph a 2/2 minion.

1/1 is weaker than a 2/2 right ?

Therefore it helped.

The only part of this card that uses IA is the part that decides what will be in the pool for the current roll.

Polymorph is one of the outcomes?

I’ve had 24 procs of it, not a single poly, lol

I guess I might have been lucky if I didn’t even see all the spells in the pool

there is also flamestrike if you haven’t had it.

I think I did have flamestrike once, yes.

But the highest MVP play was when I had to rely on it casting Blizzard, because there was no way I could have traded all the minions and they had lethal on board, so I just went face, and it cast blizzard.

Exactly as advertised!
