Purified Shard is a lazy developer card

Hi there, the creation of the purified shard must have taken less than five minutes to brain-storm and develop. If we consider the win-rate of priests with the purified shard and use appropriate boot-strapping tools we can begin to see that clearly this particular card is an i-win button that any one-cell molecule could probably win with. Can anyone recommend any strategies against it?

aggro beats it almost every time (99%)

Win before turn 12 or so.
At all ranks per VS last report, Quests Priests is only favored against other priests, Warrior, and Rogues. Maybe a little Aggro druid.

It works as any other Quests deck. Amass damage untill you can kill them from whatever Hp they have in a single turn.

Additionally, as Quest priest has a very tight game plan, you more or less know which cards they are gonna play from turn 3 onwards, and should plan accordingly. Any deviation from said plan means they win even later.

Nah aggro runs out of steam from the removals then basicly gets boned by the heals.

Honestly many cards counter this you can steal the reward minion with theo and they have to draw the card.

My experance playing the deck, you either get the quest minion stolen or eaten by mutanis or u just get killed b4 you draw the spell 75% of the time.

More often than not i end up wining w/o using the final spell than with.

aggro farms quest priests without any issues

relic DH has a good match up vs quest priest too

Save Theotar or Mutanus and hope you can snipe the minion who puts it in the deck.

I use 2x steam cleaner (in case the dirty priest takes one), Theo and Mutanus to combat against it. Steam cleaner has worked more often than not and has the added bonus of countering the odd Kaz appearance. I’ve even had it thin out random discovered and shuffled spells in mage decks. It’s a little on the expensive side and useless against other decks but it’s helped (me at least) against quest priest.

It’s one of those cards that just feels bad to lose to. I wish it didn’t exist. I wish all quests didn’t exist. I cannot wait for them to be gone. Biggest mistake of modern Hearthstone.

Just eat her with Shaman. Bolner Brann Mutanus and there she goes with her stupid shard.

Or use the 5 mana robot.

If you manage to lose to Shard in this current meta you deserve to stay in bronze.

Used to dislike it but now is one of my favourite decks. At least with quest priest you can be certain you will get to 10 mana, unlike playing vs aggro.

Which aggro deck are you talking about?

Common misconception has always been that Aggro farms Control Priest. It’s simply not true.

Quest Priest beats Face Hunter, Aggro Druid and sits at 50% win rate against Aggro Demon Hunter.

I don’t know where this misconception comes from or why it continues since the stats show that it’s simply not true.

False. See above.

Have you never played other card games? Yugioh for example has Exodia “I win” cards.

It wasn’t so much lazy, as it was a deliberate finger towards the community. The community complained ad nauseum about priest’s win condition being fatigue. This was the developer’s answer. This wasn’t lazy, it was intentional.

finger ?

was a helping hand this quest been really fun to play even if i dont even complete it in most games

it forces " do nothing " decks to try doing something for a change instead of waiting for opponent to run out of cards !

sometimes i even run it on a deck wthout 8 mana cards just for the " discover a card from your deck " rewards

Bottom line is if this deck is an issue for you your deck sucks and you need to either accept that or play something worth a damn. Most CCGs have the occasional alternate win con.

This! It’s like I’m pulling put magic tricks left right and center then Bam you dead.

I agree: it’s lazy and also boring.

Instead of making the “I win card” so plain, they could have gone with Xyrella having a different battlecry, like “after you heal 30 health, win the game”. It would be more interesting even for the priest player.

I like OTK and special combo, but this priest doesn’t appeal me.
The quest is cool, the final reward isn’t.

They could have made the shard a 10 mana card that said “discard both players hands, destroy all players deck, destroy all minions on board and summon mechatun”; literally anything that would have made the reward feel special and unique.
