I’ve been tired of playing Priest decks for years. First it was healing spam, then resurrect spam, followed by board clear spam. Enough is enough and the hearthstone player base is fed up with excuses of why it shouldn’t be changed. I tried to remain silent on the issue but now that we are going through a hearthstone awakening let the people be heard. Priest needs to change, quit producing cards that empower the troll decks in the priest arsenal. The time for change is now!
Priest is currently the 3rd worst class in the game, only behind shaman and warlock … and you’re calling for a nerf? You must play aggro and have a hard time thinking beyond “me go face”.
Galakrond priest at diamond 5 has only a 50% win rate, I know because I play it.
I played big shaman on wild and had no problems with the resurrect priest
Can you elaborate on how board clear is a win condition? Just curious because as a Priest player I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t figured that out like you apparently have. Thanks.
I’ve been Legend with Gala Priest three months in a row. Currently my climb is at 40%. Either I completely forgot how to play the same deck, or a single person’s experiences with an archetype doesn’t reflect the overall performance of the deck.
Edit: For the record, VS has Priest at Tier 3. ATM, it has Pure Paladin as performing slightly better than Gala Priest, with Highlander Priest being at the same level as Questlock. Still T3.
solved it for you: you play against one of the priest haters and they will rage quit when you soul mirror their overextended board of 7 big minions
You are someone who knows something more than the average player. That you were able to easily get legendary during the time that anguish about Demon Hunter led to repeated nerfs is counterintuitive. Your insight would help people understand what they are not seeing. What do you think allowed you to rise during what should have been Priest’s most difficult time, yet not now after truly significant nerfs to DH?
The best part was where he said he tried to remain silent. Very entertaining.
It’s not a secret, it’s stats and matches. Demon Hunter had one counter; Warrior. Priest’s best match is Warrior.
Priest was bad throughout most of the ladder, but once you get into that pocket meta of Warriors at the top, Priest was pretty good. But on the other hand, being in the meta of Demon Hunters is miserable. When Demon Hunter is nerfed, things that aren’t Demon Hunter or Warrior rise in population. So that brings in a bunch of 50/50 at best matches.
And then we get to the recent “nerf” to Twin Slice. Now that didn’t actually bring DH down in power at all, but it did reshuffle it’s matches. The things that lost to the Tempo of the Demon Hunter got a little better, like Hunter.
But in terms of DH vs Gala Priest, it really just took 4 damage and made it 8 damage. The mana cost isn’t that important; DH vs. Priest is a game of relentless aggression. Whittling the Priest down with damage from hand. I mean, sure, sometimes you do just seize the board and the Gala Priest doesn’t have his removal and you win. But in the long game, if the Gala Priest doesn’t stick a medium-size minion and put Apotheosis on it then the game will still usually go to the DH. And that bad match got worse with the potential damage from hand increasing, too.
So you’ve got more things that Priest loses to hanging around, and the most common match in DH also got worse. You can see the hit in the stats, Gala Priest has lost a few percent globally. Now, DH is still the best deck in the game but now it has some 50/50s that used to be favored. Will Warrior come back? Or will people continue to take the 50/50s? Like, Priest was NEVER strong on it’s own this expansion, it was best as a counter-queue class. A silver bullet aimed at Warrior. That’s why it’s harder now; the meta shifted away from that perfect environment for Priest decks.
Now, Highlander Priest is more like a 50/50 vs. DH, but it loses harder to Rogues and Questlocks and Mages so it’s not like it’s the perfect answer to Priest problems, it’s not the answer to a more diverse meta.
you aren’t the playerbase and priest is far from being the best class right now
It may not be the best in terms of wins, but it hands down the worst to play against in terms of enjoyment and that isn’t even up for debate.
The class is miserable to face.
nahh thats been DH and murloc paladin is getting there too
We’ll have to disagree on that. Even if I lose to DH, at least it doesn’t take all day.
You guys don’t like the idea of resurrection, but I don’t think it is the resurrection it is
“OUR HOMES, OUR TOMBS.”
Being heard 10 times during ONE match.
I don’t hate mass resurrection, I hate Kartut Defender.
DH has continued to refine it’s list and that has made the matchup vs Priest tougher over time. First it was Beaming Sidekick that allowed DH to buff it key minions out of range of Breath/Nova. Then came Bonechewer Brawler/Amani Berserker - a 2 drop that was not only resistant to Breath/Nova, but could punish their use. Now you have Guardian Augmerchant which further helps to shield key early minions from Priest’s AoEs and Penance. Finally the Twin Slice adjustment is a buff in the Priest matchup as it was never difficult for the DH to take board control early. Now Twin Slice gives them more reach instead.
I also found Galakrond Warlock and Galakrond Rogue fairly comfortable matchups as Priest. The former was dead after the initial nerfs for AoO and the latter doesn’t seem as popular on ladder currently. Instead there’s more Highlander Hunter and Galakrond Warlock’s been replaced by Quest.
Plenty of experimentation happening in Gala Priest right now and you have NHG running his Grave Rune/Psyche Split package.
its not and that is one of them problem with priest.
What? Fatigue is most definitely a win condition. Removal is a huge part of it. It’s one of the most annoying ones though. I say this as a player who plays control/fatigue style decks.
It is just annoying. But it’s also a valid form of play. If it wasn’t fatigue wouldn’t do damage.
The biggest counter to the playstyle is combo. Which there really isn’t any super strong ones. Warlock and Druid aren’t really as strong as older combos.
Reading all the comments on here was quite hilarious not going to lie. People are super quick to defend their class. XD
You people do not disappoint.
Don’t like to be annoyed and just want to play aggro and hit face hard hard? Solution, why not gamble with mage if you really want to have fun.
