Hey everyone,
As a long-time Priest main, I’ve always found the class super rewarding, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. For me, there’s something really satisfying about the reactive playstyle, slowly outlasting your opponent, or pulling off those insane late-game combos. I love the mind games and the feeling of control (pun intended!), especially when you can steal key cards and turn the game around.
That said, I’ve noticed a lot of players seem to either love or hate Priest. Some find the class slow and frustrating, while others get hooked on its unique mechanics. I get that it’s not as fast-paced as some of the aggro classes, but I think there’s a lot of depth that makes every game feel different.
I’m curious to hear from others—whether you play Priest a lot or just face it occasionally—how fun do you find Priest decks? Any favorite builds or specific cards that keep you coming back to the class? Do you find the playstyle satisfying or do you prefer something more straightforward?
Would love to hear your thoughts and any fun deck ideas you’ve been messing with!
I like playing vs priest more than i like playing priest.
I enjoy grindy value matchups and priest delivers on that front
Are there any good control priest decks around? I can’t remeber the last time I saw one in standard or wild
I haven’t even bothered. Anything Priest can do, everyone else can do it better.
This is the only meta I haven’t even bothered with Control Priest. It’s the worst it’s ever been.

That was my impression as well

In my opinion, it’s because every class is doing things it normally wouldn’t do. Everyone has board clears and mind control stuff and healing and armor.
Priest doesn’t have anything it normally wouldn’t have except for aggro.
So it’s as if all classes just role reversed. Thus, other classes are way better at Control and Priest is really good at aggro.
Rogue can put together a Reno Rogue deck and have more Control than Priest. And Priest is out here doing aggro with dragons and OTK shenanigans with Hedanis.
It’s upside down meta.

I only play them for achievements and quests, but one thing is clear about priests, they like stealing the cards of others.
I mean thats just not true or possible. Priest has multiple ways to copy Tess if you’re counting Tess as removal
I will say that Reno Priest and rogue are pretty even as far as reno decks go. Priest is probably slightly favored because of the location, but its closer than it should be considering rogue doesnt have a reno card
It feels like control classes like priest and warrior have really struggled to keep up with the game becoming faster.
They gave warrior an overtuned Boomboss to try and compensate but it doesnt feel like preist got anything to help it keep up.
If they don’t want fatigue to be a thing, they need to help control priest out by giving it some other kind of win conditions so it can compete
Priest isn’t copying a Tess if they aren’t facing a Rogue. I don’t even know why you brought Tess up.
I wasn’t saying Reno Rogue vs Control Priest.
I was talking about Reno Rogue overall. Reno Rogue has an amazing toolkit to work with and go near infinite.
I haven’t played priest in a long time but I used to play a version where all you did was out value opponents by stealing cards, copying cards or getting big value plays like 2 for 1s with shadow madness. Good times.

I saw a priest in Wild today and they played at least 5 Aman’thuls. I was also playing a priest; a butchered Standard priest to do achievements; but I was also having Aman’thul and I could copy mine.
So basically one was copying the Aman’thul of the other and it was Aman’thul after Aman’thul after Aman’thul all the way down; eventually I lost; they had the most Aman’thul.
Reno rogue doesnt have more control than reno preist though even if it is playing vs a different deck. Preist just has more control tools and they are more reliable than random discovers or kill 2 random minions
The amount of games that you can actually set up the maestra into hero card into tess is really quite small
Most of the time reno rogue either wins or loses by tempo or some kind of burn plan based on what you get from your discovers
I cant stress enough how many times i died because just playing maestra or eudora gave my opponent a chance to stabilize and come back to win xD. Those cards at 5 mana just kill any momentum you have in your favor a lot of the time
A fun tip though. If you have swapped your hero and played shadowstep or break dance if your opponent plays reno you can almost guarantee Tess returning to hand because you only have 1 board spot
Whether its worth playing or not is dependent on the game state
I don’t like the thief mechanic. At all. Discovering cards from other classes, okay.
But stealing my own deck?
I would rather concede, friend request and paste my deck code since you want to play it so bad.
Once my card is stolen, I auto concede. Go bother someone else with that nonsense.
On my old account, I played a Dragon Mind Blast priest that was a lot of fun. Played a ton of rez priest (before Catrina nerf.)
And when I first started the game, I played a C’thun Control Priest in casual.
Before I knew what win rates and metagames were. The pure, innocent, golden days.

do you mean copy when you say steal.
or is there some card that i missed. been a while since i logged in.
Both. There are some cards that do one or the other.
I remember on my old account, I opened Halazzi. A hunter legendary. I qued up and faced a priest.
They got to play my legendary before I did. It felt so bad and took the wind out of my sails.
I just don’t bother with them.
i like em just fine. i usually mess with questline priest, sword of 1k truths priest, or deathrattle priest.
