Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why can’t I buy a Battle-Ready Deck when the expansion launches?
    • We want to make sure we preserve the exploration phase of each expansion when everyone is trying out new and interesting things. We won’t be offering Battle-Ready Decks right after an expansion launches because the meta always needs time to settle at first, and we need time to analyze the resulting data to determine which decks we should offer.
  • Why can I only buy one? Will more Battle-Ready Decks become available for the next expansion?
    • We’re trying this limited run now to gauge community interest before we decide how expansive this should be.
  • How long will Battle-Ready Decks be available after they start showing up in the shop?
    • A Battle-Ready Deck will be purchasable for two weeks after it’s been listed on the shop.
  • What happens if I buy a Battle-Ready Deck but I already have most of the cards?
    • You’ll get those cards again as duplicates, which you can choose to disenchant if you’d like.
  • There are Core Set cards in these decks, will I get those cards again?
    • If you already have the Core Set cards in a Battle-Ready deck, you will not receive them again. If you don’t, purchasing a deck will automatically level its associated class to 10, unlocking all the Core set cards in the deck list.
  • What happens if cards in my Battle-Ready Deck are nerfed?
    • We always do our best to plan around potential balance changes. As such, we’re not expecting to nerf any of the cards offered in Battle-Ready Decks at this time, but we will extend the usual full dust refund to any eligible impacted cards if it happens.
  • I did not have an open deck slot when I purchased my Battle-Ready Deck, where is it?
    • It’s possible you may not see the Battle-Ready Deck in your deck list if you did not have an open deck slot when you chose your Battle-Ready Deck. If this happens, don’t worry! You will still receive all the cards from that deck. If you would like to delete one of your existing decks, you can then navigate back to this page and use our deck list. From here, you can copy the deck code to automatically assemble the deck in Hearthstone.

I myself have no major interest in it, but a lot of people over the years have been asking for ways to purchase decks like you can in other CCGs, so I guess they get what they want now. Definitely way the hell better value to grab legendaries/epics for these decks than opening a bajillion packs and hoping you get the stuff or the dust to craft them.

Assuming this remains accurate, this means no nerfs for Hand of A’dal, Crabrider, or Tickatus in the near future.

Unsurprising, as Dean has already come out and said that he doesn’t think Crabrider is particularly OP. Can’t agree myself, but it is what it is.

Should be popular with the pay2win crowd. This is pay2win with a capital ‘P’.

So $20 buys you a meta deck…

I have most of the cards, so I don’t need the decks, but, as someone who is always looking for new decks and archetypes to play (and not particularly good at deck building), I was hoping for some fresh takes on the classes. Excited to see deck codes, but…

Oh well…

This was probably the most interesting tidbit from this announcement because there’s a few cards people want nerfed in those decks like Tickatus and the paladin secret package.

Why? Any ftp player can craft a meta deck, and you can only buy one of these?

If those cards aren’t nerfed, there won’t be much people left playing. Wild is already dead, same players over and over. Now they’re trying to kill standard, really smart moves.

Hearthstone has the most confusing business model of any game I ever played. They sell tavern passes, battle passes, arena passes, expansions, card packs, heroes, and now pre-made decks.

It’s like going to a theme park and having to buy a different pass for every attraction.

If all f2p players could craft a meta deck then blizz business model would soon fail.

Damn… Activision must be desperate for money

Some people in this thread apparently unaware of how many people have been asking for premade decks for sale over the years.

The fact that this means very few changes to the meta is…

Maybe, but most “P2W” people already have most or all of the set, meaning this is worthless to them.

This is like, budget P2W or something. Definitely targeted at a different demographic than those who open a bunch of packs.

Not really. I’m very much a paying player and this is completely useless to me because I have everything for this set and all but 3 bad year of the phoenix cards (vashj, magtheridon, and shekzara).

This is a great way for new or returning players to get into the metagame quickly without having to open a bunch of old packs to try and catch up

Adds another string to their bow I suppose.

Building an expensive (which is comparable to what they’re doing) new ride is same to old customers as them not existing, except some envy for those who can afford them.

Interesting take I suppose

Do you even know what that means?

Good for budget players. 20 for a solid deck isn’t an unreasonable ask. Glad they are doing this.
