Well…
Most of the games doing well in mobile nowadays not even have a crafting system or if they have those have some dumb rules like only legendaries dust counting towards crafting legendaries.
This is how far from reality the average hearthstone players is when he says that there isn’t enough free stuff.
Now that their game is filled with bots they don’t really care about F2P players. The queues stay filled and their Daily Active Users stay afloat.
The only customer they care about are the people that for some reason still pay for this game… and now they’re going to start nickel and diming them
Well, get less pay more might be a winning formula with younger audiences. I don’t believe the players who make up HS core will ever go for it, as HS was designed differently from jump.
Never said for HS to dive 100% on it.
Just that reality is that hearthstone is really cheap to the point it could for example have a new card rarity costing 3200 dust and get away with it still being one of the cheapest.

I agree that HS players do seem to take a great deal for granted.
But I feel like there are better ways to entice the player base to spend beyond just decreeing that they are going to charge more .
Like I said: I would love to see them give something small but significant in concert with the pay board roll-out.
If they can create the impression that they give more than they take, they can win real loyalty that I don’t believe they currently have.
I know players in POE that spend hundreds every month because they want the game to continue. I never see that attitude from HS players.
It will. You underestimate the amount of money whales pump into games. Diablo Immortal made many many thousands of dollars off of singular players.
With that said.
New hero Powers would be a decent start to arficially inflate deck prices a little.
I feel devs lean a little too much towards conservativism with a playerbase that Will acusse they of powercreep as if they were Konami with yu-gi-oh.
We aren’t TFT to have cosmectics really worth 250 Bucks.
new hero powers would absolutely powercreep the meta, we’ve already used practically every simple effect that is worth 0 mana, so new hero powers would either have to be stronger for the cost, or far more complex than normal hero powers

Probably but would also give a different spin on the game and give New stuff to waste resources or money on.
I am willing to be overruled on this.
I still question whether players who have received these features for free for so long will willingly go along with the idea, and I also question whether or not this will attract new customers.
HS was conceived as F2P. Should that no longer be the case, per other suggestions here that new HP’s be added for pay, then I can imagine a great many will quit.
Why is that funny? It’s accurate.
Pocket change given it had all the monetization options in the world present in game and on top of having a brand name like Diablo.
You need look no further than Genshin or Honkai Star Rail to see who makes the real big bucks(monthly not over years).
Than again those games that are also predatory as hell have a real solid foundation under it(unlike Diablo cash grab Immortal).

I agree. I am familiar with games like League of Angels that are purely Pay to win, that probably make as much money as immortal does, if not more.
I don’t think HS can successfully copy that model at this late date.
Oh they tried their best but got huge backlash for it.
Promises and years of good will are in place ,this game is ancient by gacha standards and the dark tides in monetization came after the release of Hearthstone.
We have only fragments of whats present on other current popular games, even with the addition of Runestones its still only 1 extra currency.

People that are against the company that provides a free to play game making any income off the things in that game, dont understand how basic economics of running a free to play game work.
I think I understand it pretty well. I just don’t believe they can pull this off without a bit of psychology.
They need to give the appearance of doing this: “for the players”.
That their entire reason is to continue the game for their loyal fans, and not just a shameless money grab.
They can foster that belief by giving something small as a token that they are in earnest.
The power of goodwill is something MS/Blizzard needs to reconnect with.

Do pure and simple price/demmand.
Assimetrical class cards rarity distribution, new playable stuff to collect as New hero Powers for example.
And if the old playerbase wants to kneejerk about it. Let they do.
I think you underestimate the collective power of the base.
This is a bullet they have to eat sooner or later.
And the later It pass the worse it will be. They should have done already years ago.
